Lin thought about it, to be honest she felt bad for passing Miyuki off onto Earendil all the time, but checking the window told her the butterflies would still be out yet. Perhaps in the evening.

"If you don't mind," Lin replied sheepishly.

Earendil chuckled and scooped up Miyuki into his arms. "Not at all," he said warmly, tossing her up and catching her again. "You know I don't mind."

He grinned at Lin, holding Miyuki firmly. "Ready to go?"

"Ready," Lin nodded as she grabbed Miyuki's bag and headed back out.

She paused to wait for Eaerendil and of course the little one.

"We might even be able to meet Ulrich and Ulani."

"That would be nice," Earendil grinned. "I mean, we didn't really get to visit with them yesterday, they were a bit preoccupied with Rhea's return, I think."

He followed after Lin, heading outside. "And if I can be honest," he chuckled, "it's kind of nice to be able to walk to travel, rather than fly. Nothing against flying, but I do prefer the ground."

Most of the time at least.

"Well.. I guess that's understandable," Lin replied, "It's quick but you miss a lot on the way."

Though she didn't mind flying as long as it was under her own power that is. She would prefer that the best. Lin thought about this as she spotted her mother, father and sisters up ahead.

"There you two are," Donovan grinned, "Let's go before your mother bursts with excitement."

He dodged a whamp as he said this because he knew it was coming.

Earendil laughed. "You certainly have changed since the last time I saw you, Donovan," he grinned. "But that was a long time ago, wasn't it? Not since Aunt Elnara's wedding. And before that, not since I was little."

Donovan didn't come often to the castle - very rarely in fact.

"You're going to come with us to see Cindy?" he asked them, though the answer was pretty obvious.

Had he really lightened up that much since then? Not that Donovan would know, it had been a really long time after all.

"Yea, or specifically Cindy and Vergil, we haven't met the little guy yet, even though we've known about him for a while," Donovan explained as he motioned the trio to follow them.

"So it's about time we visited."

"How long has he been here?" Earendil asked, following after Donovan. After all, it was his first time there, he didn't know the way. Into the forest - and he supposed follow the path. Still. "You make it sound as if he's not been here long at all."

"No idea, we heard about him about a month ago or? Maybe a bit more, but you know how these time differences work out," Donovan murmured, "It gets so bloody complicated."

Seriously there were days he wondered how anyone (like Lin) kept their head straight.

"He's probably been here for years now."

Earendil nodded. "Sounds about right," he agreed. "When Lin used to visit us every day for her lessons, we could always tell when she missed a day, or if she was late. For her it could have been a few minutes or a few hours, but for us it was a matter of days, sometimes weeks. It was always noticeable."

Of course, he had always looked forward to her visits, even when he had been a child - well, after he had first met her, of course.

"But now it's hard to tell," Lin murmured, "Or remember that massive time jump from when I visited the Eastland to when I visited the Southland. It was maybe a week or two, but by then Amora already had her first child."

Which made her wonder really but it couldn't be helped.

"Time difference, what a pain," Donovan murmured, "Remembered when we first came here. This was before a standard portal was set, we ended up here at different times and in different places."

"Wasn't that when I was just ... I don't know, one year old or something?" Earendil asked curiously. "I mean, I don't remember it, but I was told about it once."

He looked down at Lin. "That was before you were even born, right?" he asked her, not entirely sure.

Lin nodded at this, "Yea, I was born after that whole thing happened."

So she only heard it second hand from other people, including what Earendil was like as a child.

"You were one," Donovan confirmed, "I remember, not that I saw a lot of you. You spent most of your time with your brother and Nina."

Nina that little Kirian was still as kooky as ever.

"So how long after each other did you enter the portal," Earendil asked Donovan and Kara, "and where did you each end up?"

It was strange to him, because as far as he could remember, the portal had worked the same, brought people where they expected to end up. No detours, no sidepaths.

Donovan thought about it, "Well Triton and Elnara were first the only ones who were supposed to go, I was told they ended up somewhere along the Westland border. Then we discovered Nina was missing... that was probably a good half an hour or so, so Kara went in after her."

"Not together?" Lin blinked looking at the two.

Her mother giggled at that as she padded Donovan's arm, "We weren't married yet, in fact we only had a working relationship at the time. Nothing happened until after we arrived here. Anyhow I ended up probably a day or two journey outside of the valley here. Donovan arrived the day I arrived here inside the valley, in fact he arrived right in front of Ulani and Ulrich's home."

Donovan rolled his eyes, "This was back when Jin was a baby, I had to make sure I had everything for him before heading through the portal. Apparently the twins, as in Yue adn Yukito had an accident while tinkering with the portal and ended up at the palace."
