She blinked a few times staring at Earendil for a moment before it clicked in she wasn't outside the city anymore. She was on a bed, in which she was probably in the city now.

"I feel a bit fuzzy minded but I'm awake," she finally replied.

It was then she realized she was on her stomach, why was she on her stomach. Something was twitching though, there was a part of her that was twitching but she couldn't figure out what it was. It wasn't her leg, or her arm, it felt like it was her shoulders but that wasn't right neither.

"Where are we?"

"In the house of healing," Earendil replied softly. "You passed out just before we arrived at the city ... and ... uhm ..."

"Grew wings," Kaito grinned in the way that only Kaito could. "Welcome to the world of the living, Lin. How do you feel?"

Earendil rolled his eyes at Kaito. "There are better ways of telling people things, you know."

Kaito shrugged. "Takes too long."

It took a moment for the whole blunt explanation to sink into Lin's brain. If she wasn't awake before she was certainly awake now.

"Wait what?!" Lin tried to get up off the bed.

Tried was the main word, though it wasn't raw as it was, it was sore, and it was extra weight against her she wasn't use to. So she almost slipped back down onto the bed. She the her head and considering their size it wasn't hard to see the edges of her new fluffy white wings.

"What?!"

She knew she looked an awful lot like her mother but this was ridiculous!

Kaito laughed at Lin. "They're almost as big as mine, I think," he winked at her. "But look at the bright side - now you don't have to come up with excuses why you're immortal! Now you don't even have to say that you're human! You could just say you're an angel, like Obaa-san!"

Suddenly he tilted his head and looked at her curiously, his ears flicking back and forth. "I wonder if you are still human," he murmured.

Lin groaned and wanted to shove her face into the bed, this was not what she was expecting. This was just complicating her normally not so complicated view of the world.

"I doubt it as humans don't have wings or sprout them," she murmured, "But Seconds don't sprout wings either.... and I came from a human vase."

"Didn't that... what's her name... Miyu come from a human vase?" Senka pointed out.

"Miyu is also half human," Lin blinked at that thought.

No... no that would be the biggest joke ever, there was absolutely no way someone secretly took the essence of both her parents and shoved them into a vase. Was that even possible?

Kaito shrugged. "Then maybe you are too," he concluded. "Everyone has always said how much you look like both Obaa-san and Ojii-san, even though you're not their blood daughter, maybe it's just ... slow in revealing itself." He shrugged. "The only vase I was around for was Jair's, and let's face it - he hasn't grown since he was born, and he's Naida's age! She grew a long time ago, and you can't tell me that he doesn't get into any less trouble than her."

He stopped, realizing that he was getting off topic.

"Anyways, point being, I don't know anything about Seconds," he concluded. "You should ask someone else when we get back. Maybe Shiro would even know, I think he's getting close to figuring out exactly how Ura is connected to him, too."

That and get a full examination from Yukito she thought since he tended to all the Seconds at home and knew a great deal about them. Still the idea was too weird to wrap her head around. She didn't even point out that two particular siblings were born with wings... but then again they actually were well... convenced in the normal way.

"Maybe...." Lin agreed, "Argh... this is just too confusing, and it itches."

To be fair though her back was healing so it was probably going to itch for a while.

The healer was amazed at Lin's recovery - but then, he had never seen anything like it before, so he really had no idea what to expect from it. Frankly, he was amazed at all of it.

"You are all right?" he asked anxiously. "Forgive me for asking ... but ... what is your race called? Kaito here was trying to explain it to me, but I do not understand the word ..."

Not that he had understood what 'neko' meant either, the word simply didn't exist in the High Elven vocabulary.

It made Lin wondered how complicated Kaito decided to make it. She thought about the answer for a moment and decided after much debate to just stick with the simple answer. All the possible hybrid stuff could be saved for another time when she could get herself checked out by someone back home.

"It's just sore and itches,"
Lin replied.

She realized now that the twitching was coming from her wings. It was weird to have a body part that wasn't there before.

"And... to keep it simple I'm half angelic... or the race word angel."

Whatever she added mentally, she might as well have the story she was a half angel so at least if anyone had met her father or asked about her father it would be completely normal. Unless there was such a thing as a Human Angel.

Except the coming out of a vase part.

"Lin," Tinuviel murmured, "you have to realize ... the concept doesn't exist in our world. And especially in our language."

She turned to the healer. "Angels are a race of winged human-like beings," she explained to him. "They are not from our world, Arda ... but from another world, called Gaia. They are visiting us through magic."

The healer nodded slowly. That at least made a bit of sense - even if he found it very difficult to believe.

"Perhaps if you're better, we should find the inn, rather than stay here," Earendil suggested to Lin. "Besides, Aranel and Regan are waiting for us. They will want to know that you're all right."

Lin nodded at this as she pushed herself off the bed, though she had to grip onto the mattress to keep herself from falling over again. Now that she was sitting up she couldn't help but stare at the size of them, they were bigger than normal Second wings.

Her heart sank, she was going to have to relearn all her katas to adapt to the new limbs.

Slowly she stood on her own two feet and tried not to stumble.

"Deadweights," she muttered under her breath.

She wondered if she could pull them into her back like her mother, though she heard her mother found it very uncomfortable.

Earendil held his arm out to Lin. "Take my arm," he murmured, "we'll get you to the inn and then you can rest. We'll worry about the rest afterwards. If we need to stay here a little longer, that's all right. We'll send a letter ahead to let everyone know so that they won't be worried about us."

"Knowing Shiro, he would be late back anyways," Kaito piped up.

Lin had to laugh at that, it was true Shiro would find something so interesting or want to look at something do in depth that he'll be late as well.

"Alright then," Lin murmured, "Let's go then. It'll probably take me a few days to adjust to just having extra weight."

Tinuviel thanked the healer for his efforts in helping them, though of course he hadn't really done anything except wipe up her back, and then the four of them and Senka left.

Aranel was waiting anxiously outside, keeping an eye on the horses while he watched over Regan, who was playing in the grass. When the others came outside, he rose quickly to his feet.

"Lin's all right?" he asked, looking at Regan and Kaito, who were the first to walk outside.

Lin followed shortly after, she had taken Earendil's offered arm and was using him to keep balance. Otherwise she was sure she was going to fall, and she had already accidentally stepped on the tips once. It had only been a short walk to the door but already Lin was seriously considering if seeing if she could pull the wings back.

She knew there was a way to find out, but her mind was still fuzzy as to how to find out.

"I'm fine, just a bit unbalanced at the moment...."

And she was sure she was going to have to take a bath... or... how did one go about washing these damn things?
