Annexus released the hilt of Flameberg.
Spikes began piercing the ground around Hiro, all pointing towards him, as if the ground itself was trying to impale him.

Hiro was shocked when spikes pierced the ground around him. Hiro jumped into the air and out of the circle of spikes. "Wh-What the hell?" Hiro said. He quickly put a dart into his crossbow.

Annexus smiled as he pulled Flameberg from the ground, all of the spikes retracting with it. He he held it across in front of him, as it started to glow with a fiery red tinge.

His sword... Hiro thought. He saw his sword start to glow. What? What now? Hiro prepared to dodge. I don't stand a chance against him...But...I will not despair. I won't give up until I breathe no longer. No man is invincible. I need to find his weak spot.

Spikes suddenly extended from the blade, all twisting and turning through the air, moving as if they were alive, all of the stretching toward Hiro.

Hiro dodged all but one of them. The one he didn't dodge had cut his side, though it was only a small cut, barely bleeding. I can't keep dodging forever. I have to try to hit him, he thought. In mid-dodge, Hiro shot a dart at Annexus.
((O.O It's 1:40? I gotta go to bed! I'll be on tomorrow.))

Annexus smiled as the dart cut through part of his cloak, the kid was a darn good shot, if he was any close, it would have struck him between the eyes.
Annexus fingered the vial again, it was time. All of the barbs redirected, those barbs each doubling, tripling. It was time to end it . . . just a little scratch.

Missed... Hiro thought. How could I miss? I'll need to get closer, but... I'm sure he has something in mind if I get too close. I'd rather not take my chances. He saw has the barbs redirected then tripled. There's no way I can dodge all of those!

((Well, basically, Hiro followed Annexus to the stadium after everyone else finally agreed to let him fight Annexus alone. Leah showed Mina her powers of illusion. And Hiro asked Mimi to not tell Mina if he were ever in trouble. "The last thing I need is her trying to interfere and getting killed," were his exact words.))
