Sage Leander

PostPosted: Tue Dec 23, 2008 7:52 pm

Leander looked up as Melethia entered and he immediately stood, grabbing his staff and walking toward her. The staff itself held no spell, like Mend and Torch staffs do-- his magic was so arcane and powerful that he could perform the function of virtually any staff without actually holding that staff in his hands. He simply channeled his magic through a blank one, because he found it easiest and he had to carry the damn scepter around anyway. It's a royalty thing.

"Just a moment, there," he murmured, closing his eyes and raising the staff a bit. The head of the staff glowed for a moment, and healing energy rushed into Melethia's body, sealing up her wounds instantly and seamlessly. Her wing even snapped back into place and felt better than it had before the ugly dog had bitten her. "There we go," he said with a smile. "Should be all fixed up now."

"Thank you." Melethia then noticed the staff. "That staff. It looks a bit like mine. Are you of royallty?" She didn't hear his story so she didn't know.

Rhys snapped out of his reverie of mentally kicking himself. The self-hate he was feeling right now could wait, if someone was injured.

He walked over and examined Melethia's hands, but then saw there was no need--Leander had healed them in nearly an eyeblink. This just made him even more depressed... and angry. Yeah, sure! Let's all take Rhys' job! It's not bad enough that we have a five-hundred-year-old Bishop, a Legendary Druid, AND another decent Druid at our sides! Now we need a freaking Ice King to Heal, too! Am I the only non-promoted fool left in this entire kingdom? Gods, why do I even bother!?

Disgustedly, Rhys forced a smile on his face, "thanking" Leander for putting forth almost no effort whatsoever in healing Melethia. He went back to where he'd been laying and flopped back down.

Amelia frowned as Rhys flopped bonelessly onto the rug. The smile looked fake, the kind you wore for a photo. She didn't comment on it; not yet. Not when the room was packed and trying to do any personal conversation would be useless. Maybe he's just tired... I'll ask him if something's wrong later. Yeah. Amelia flopped to a laying position and propped her elbows up and rested her chin on her hands, keeping the Knight's Crest between her biceps.

Tibarn frowned, thinking back to his own arrival here. "I... I remember returning to Phoenicis, after the Goddess' War, and taking over Kilvas and Serenes... I was in Gallia, actually, flying along the beach, and..." He sighed. "I was just trying to get away from the stress, trying to run three countries. I spotted a little shack down by the water. I really don't know what made me want to do it. Curiosity, I guess. I flew down, knocked at the door, then opened it and stepped inside... And..." He ran his fingers through his hair thoughtfully. "And nearly toppled off the wall of Castle Town over there." He scratched his head, deep in thought. It certainly sounded like doors opened up for people searching for an escape... Were they all linked by some hidden shame?

Tibarn looked up, locking eyes with Amelia, and with Rhys, and Alihi-- and then he looked away quickly.

Valter remained leaning, unmoving, eyes closed, trapped in his memories. Of him being the greatest general in all of Grado. Of him stealing the cursed lance. Of his fall from grace, and of his ascension back into power. Of his defeat at the hands of that little girl. Of all of those hard years after.
Snap out of it! he told himself. I need to listen...

Amelia looked over at Tibarn, then away. She thought silently of what she had left behind. Her friends from Magvel: Ross, the loud-spoken, brash Fighter, Ewan, the curious, quick-thinking Mage; Franz, the kind, gentle Cavalier that had been her best friend... even Duessel, the man that was going to reunite her with her mother...

Mother... what happened...? Did you even see me? I didn't see you... is there a second me back on Magvel, reuniting with you, catching up on all the years we missed? Or are you still alone? I'm so sorry... I never got to see you again... Amelia closed her eyes for a minute, trying to remember. All she could imagine was a fuzzy face, made indefinite by the passage of time, and a faint voice, one she wasn't even sure belonged to her. "Amelia, dear, come here..."

I'm sorry, Amelia thought, keeping her eyes closed. Please be okay... please be happy...

Rhys felt a little strange after hearing Tibarn's story. In a way, it was a relief... not relieved that he wasn't the only one, but relieved in that he could see that other people had pains of their own, too.

I'm clearly not the only one who gave up a lot when I didn't even realize what I currently had.
...It doesn't help that my parents were living off of my income, though. What's going on back home?
...Everybody probably thinks I'm dead. I no longer exist.

"Hey," Rhys said, suddenly realizing something. "If... we all came here via magic doors... maybe there's a way back to our former worlds? You can enter and exit a room using a door, right? Surely, it's the same way! There must be a way for us to return!"

He paused, uncertain of himself.

"...There IS a way, isn't there?"

Alihi frowned, looking at Tibarn. There definitely WAS some connection with all of the stories, one way or another. Somehow... it didn't make her feel so bad about herself.

"But still... that doesn't change the facts. Oh man... I'm such a terrible mother... Amara..." If she could, she would have laughed. She settled to hiding her face in the folds of her cloak, trying to muffle her tears. The tactician somehow still cared enough about her image to not openly cry.
"... I won't hurt anyone I care for here... I will not repeat my mistakes..."

She looked up suddenly, gaining some hope with Rhys' comments. "..."

Amelia looked over at Rhys curiously. If a magic door took them there... "Then a magic door can take you back," she responded quietly. She thought about that, then looked around. "It sounds logical... but would we even be able to get back? Or would things screw up too much by returning?" She ran a hand through her hair. "Knowing things about worlds we shouldn't know exist..."

Ed stared solemnly at the people around her. So many of them seemed to have such tragic accidents to be swept away here! How could she (ignoring her being a wolf) tell them that she was a native to this land? How could she possibly tell them she didn't suffer the same fate?

Ed kept to herself, pretending it was only because she couldn't speak...ears folded and lips sealed.

Hearing the people talk about going home made Melethia sad. She left for a reason. She caused the downfall of her kingdom. She left because she couldn't stand the pressure of being a queen.

Sue had just rode inside, with Brammimond and Victoria following her mount closeby. She had heard the bits of other worlds, and started to remember her own past... that with her father, Shin, Dayan, and all the others in the Kutolah clan of Elibe.

And then, their end of peace, the beginning of the war with Mad King Zephiel. She remembered training her hardest, protecting General Roy from Bern's Wyverns, while also being watched over by her bodyguard... and even lover... Shin. She remembered his face... it was just like her fathers... "You never smiled, did you?"

"If I returned to Elibe... would my family... still be alive?" Sue wondered aloud. "Maybe, that's where Father went. He found his way back to Elibe!"

Victoria was far too out of it to respond to any of these facts. She was from Elibe too, but... "Everything I had there... is gone. I don't care how I got here... I want to stay in this world, if it is another than my home. I don't have... a home anymore."

Secretly, Valter hoped that there was no way back. He knew that he wouldn't go back if he had the choice. And he didn't want to lose everything all over again: his friends, his new life... He didn't think he could bear to lose any more than he already had. It had only been less than half of a year, but these people were his only family. He had learned to keep his insanity inside for the sake of these people. No, he couldn't lose them. So all Valter could do was pray that there was no way back.

Leander nodded to Mel-- yes, he was indeed royalty. He frowned, though, sitting back down and listening to Rhys. "Nino said she couldn't get back without a key. She said there was a door in this house... I'll take a look at it. Perhaps I can help you all get home, but... if she says she needs a key to get home, it's probably true for all of you." He shook his head. "I'll check out the door in the morning, after I get a good night's rest... is there anything else you all need me to do?"
