The agents pressed them hard, and a few more Mercs were incapacitated.
Gabriel could see that there were more agents coming.
The Ninja Agent smacked Cado's hand out of the way and kicked out, rather quickly.

((Oh, did he?))
Cado grabbed for the agent's leg and attempted to throw him to the ground.

Cado caught the leg, then couldn't release it fast enough for the agent to kick off the other foot and bring it across his face. Dang this guy was good. How many of them were there?
Cado had known there were lots of agents, but this appeared to be only this city's group, and there were way, way more than had ever been in Bullfrog's arsenal. And this place was small.
Bullfrog was weak.

"Pull back! Pull back!" Shae called to his remaining men. He would take care of the downed men later, whatever that might entail. There was another explosive charge on the next stairwell, although this one was luckily a tad larger. Shae was the last up the stairs as he fired down at the Agents, throwing back one final nade before sliding around a corner. Cover was set up here as well. The Five Star mercs were pretty good.

The opposing Agents seemed to be having some difficulty with this one. They weren't talking, but they stopped moving for a while. And then they started shuffling out again, rather quickly.
It became completely quiet after a few moments.

((Wait, is that my building?))
Shae glanced down to see it was clear. "Someone, check for explosives." One of his men slid down the rubble of the stairs and produced one of those explosive-detecting devices.
((They do have those, right?))

((The Scanner works for that, yes, you'd have a Scanner.))
It was still quiet.

"Spread out. Eyes open," Shae said to his men. They fanned out on the floor below, and began to check their fallen comrades for life, or, failing that, munitions.
((So, does that mean the scanner didn't go off?))

((Yes, that means nothing showed up on your CAPITAL Scanner.
>_> I'm a stickler sometimes. biggrin
Not with agents, though. Agents as a title always varies from agents to Agents. I can't decide.))
There were no agents anywhere to be found. It was very quiet, when suddenly there came a whistling.
BOOM
A whole portion of the wall ripped off. No one was injured, but it became immediately apparent what was happening when the roof partially disappeared, much to Gabriel's chagrin.
Artillery strike.

Gabriel stumbled and fought for balance after the sudden explosion.
"Oh ********!" he said as he scrambled for the stairs. It was apparent that this floor was no longer safe.
Soon enough, Gabriel was a floor below and scanning the landscape for the artilery.

The artillery apparently didn't have a line of sight, because he could now focus hard enough to hear the roar of the fire, the whistling, and then the explosion, but nowhere was there any muzzle flash nor birds flying away.
They really needed to get out of the building, like fast.

"s**t!" Shae shouted. "Men, let's get out!" He clicked his mic and said, "Gabe, I don't know if you noticed, but we gotta get the <********> outta here!" He allowed half his men to go ahead, then went before the other half. They proceeded cautiously, ready in case the Agents outside were trying to ambush them.

No ambush yet. The agents had moved further away, and there was a reason for that - the shells were shifting with the mercenaries. They'd have to run, and unpredictably, or else the artillery would zero in on them.
Gabriel realized that someone had to be spotting to follow the mercs this accurately, so perhaps a spotter would be something to search for. But... he couldn't while moving, that would be a challenge...
