Bethany attached a little basket to the back of her moped and drove to the small grocery store, picking up things for the next week. After getting the food she thought they might need, she drove home, stopping off at a few places along the way to pay her bills. "He's probably going to beat me back to the house at this rate..." bethany said with a sigh as she got back on the moped after her last stop, strapping her helmet on before driving back to the house.

Existence had all but abandoned me as I milled about the Manor for the past several days. It took me days to realize I was still alive. Well, in a sense. Ever since Erik left with Sean, I felt more than empty. I felt more than hollow. I felt nonexistent, as if I wasn't in my own body anymore. I don't know what made me realize it. But I did, at one point, in the process of cleaning spilled blood off the kitchen floor. Blood? Where had blood come from?

Beth pulled up in the driveway, and put the kickstand down as she turned the motor off on the moped. She hung two plastic bags, full of food, on each arm, leaving the last two in the basket attached to the back of the moped. She grunted as she walked up the sidewalk to the house, stopping whens he got to the door to lean against the outer wall to try and fish out her keys from her jean pocket while trying to not drop any of the bags.

I was inside her house when I heard her pull in the drive way. "She shouldn't have to see another one of my kind so soon after what happened." I said as I went to my room and undressed. Pulling an old pair of stretchable shorts out of my drawer I put them on. Sighing I walked out into her backyard and could still smell the stench of blood. That's when it happened, I began to change and as usual the pain it brought made my human side almost fade; but as usual I somehow managed to hang on and ride the pain allowing it to turn me instead of fight it. After I turned I looked at the moon and let out a howl that no man nor natural wolf could ever try to compete. Now I was child of the moon, but I still had control enough to force myself to run toward the forest to where Bethany had told me of a decent hunting ground. There I will feast upon the raw bloody venison of my prey.

Bethany let out a scared little squeak as she heard the howl, and her heart leapt to her chest. "Please let that just be Josh, and not some zombiefied dead werewolf...." she whispered to herself. Her hands had started shaking again, but she managed to fish her keys out of her pocket and opened the front door. She got the bags on her arms inside, and then the last two bags, and put the groceries away before making herself a solitary sandwich to eat by herself. After she ate, she locked the doors and changed into a nightgown, before laying on her bed to stare out the window at the full moon. She felt so alone, and so scared, and just wish that someone, preferably Joshua Shield, was there to hold her and tell her that everything was alright, as she slowly drifted off to sleep.

Freedom. This is what I long for! Waiting inside the human shell to burst free and hunt! Though I promised not to hunt the mortals he cares so much about. That no longer matters anymore.....the hunt matters. My prey is up ahead. I can smell the fear radiating from it. I let out a howl and my prey stops as if I already hold it within my maw; but no it's held in the maw of fear! Fear my friend and ally. I jump through the bush and immediatly feel the cool light of the mistress; the crimson juice from the spurting neck gushing into my mouth. The taste of the raw venison sweet upon my tongue. Yes this is how it should be, if only my human shell realized this; but alas he does not, prefering to travel in the clothes that he forces even me to wear. Yearning to travel among the mortals that which he use to be.

Bethany tossed and turned in her sleep, the events from the day replaying in her mind like a slow, sick, twisted, nightmare. She woke up screaming, sweat pouring down her face. Knowing that she would get no more sleep tonight, she pulled on a pair of shorts and a shirt before slipping into her shoes. She walked out into the night, lockign the door behind her, wandering the small town aimlessly until she walked onto a trail in the forest, trying so hard to forget the previous day that she was unaware of the danger she has put herself into.

Feasting upon my venison I smelled a familiar scent yet odd to me. Leaving the dead deer I decided to investigate the interesting scent. I ran through forest scaring animals and creating new trails. Finally I stopped just behind an oak tree and watched silently as a human female walked the trail. I realized that it was my human shell that knew her. I growled telling her she was being watched. "Please look after her." the human shell said inside my head.

Bethany froze in mid-stride, fear and panic starting to rise in her throat as she heard a growl nearby. "J-josh?" she squeaked out, not daring to move, as she learned in college that running away would only add to the impulse lycans have during a full moon to hunt and chase a person down. "Oh... please let that be Josh..." she whimpered.

I wondered through the manor, completely void of anything to do. Being a wraith...there's nothing to do...when do I get more of my human self back? I thought as I let out a moan, though it sounded more like a hiss. I went to the kitchen and came across Danielle cleaning what looked like blood off of the floor.

I didn't hear the wraith's approach. He was silent as... well, a wraith. So when I stood after I had gotten the somewhat-fresh blood off the floor and turned around, I let out a little yelp as I saw Haimon hovering there. "Hi," I said softly. "I'm sorry that Erik had to... leave. I just hope he comes back so he can get more of yourself back to the way it was..." I let the thought trail off and turned to put my cleaning items in their respective places and wash my hands profusely. The scent of blood stil clung to me. Dear God and Goddess, what had I done?

I could hear her pulse quicken mostly out of fear after I growled. I growled again as she spoke. My human shell seemed to care for her, so in turn I would protect her. I stepped out from behind the tree and stood in the moon light hoping not to scare the human female. I had seen through the eyes of my human shell and saw the pup that had died. Such a small werewolf no wonder he was violent probably ashamed of his size. To let her know I was behind her I let out a small growl.

Bethany swallowed hard as she heard another growl behind her, and ever so slowly turned around. As she saw the large wolf, she had to fight her own impulse to run again. Remembering what she had learned in college about werewolves, she slowly sat down on the ground and lowered her head in a submissive pose to let him know that she was no threat, and prayed that what they taught her in college was the right thing to do. She couldn't help but wonder what it would be like though, to run her fingers in his fur... it looked so soft and sleek.

Does she want me to eat her? "No, I think she thinks she's showing peace." the human shell spoke in my mind. Humans are pretty stupid to think showing that your food is a peaceful pose. I growled again and walked closer to her sniffing her scent. It was pleasent and I could see why my human shell had a soft spot for her. I looked at the moon again and compared the two. As always my mistress won. I grabbed the woman's head and lifted it to look me in the eyes to show we are equals. "Y...y..you.....a...are.....Bet....Bethan....Bethany." I said trying to pronounce the difficult human language.

She looked intoo the lycan's eyes and relaxed as she heard the voice. "Josh..." she whispered as she wrapped her arms around him. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to interrrupt your hunt... if you want, I will go home and wait for you to return." She inhaled deeply, as if just being near him made her feel better, burying her face deep in his fur.
