(Dragons have more advanced smell then humans, but not as good at a wolfs, or dogs...they can only pick up a scent on someone if they know they are there and Damien reconized his scent)

Damien let a puff of smoke out of his mouth and his tail twitched as if saying no. Damien let another jet of flames towards Cipiranus but stopped it when he heard a loud crashing noise in the distacne...coming from the forest. For some reason Damien wnated to see what it was. He was weakened severly but he could still fly. Damien ignored Cipiranus and flew into the forest towards the crashing sound.

Ciprianus watched him go with irritation. Oh well, he thought. He's going in the correct direction. It makes my job that much easier. Besides, Ciprianus had thought he heard someone tell him that Schuyler was worried. He had probably imagined it, but the voice had seem so vivid and real. Once again, he darted back into the trees, hoping she young charge was okay.

----------------------------

At lest it's not full grown. That was the only positive that Shuyler could come up with. Negatives? It was a dragon, it was strong, and it was pissed off. Apparently, it hadn't planned on a crash landing, and someone was going to pay for it. Schuyler just happened to be the nearest innocent bystander.

It had righted itself and swooped out of the hole, and was now eyeing her with a mix of curiosity and delight. Perhaps it had some sort of grudge against humans. It released a bout of flames making Schuyler jump back. It made a grunting noise, comparable to chuckling, amused by her reaction.

"Look, I haven't hurt you, and you haven't hurt me... yet. Let's just call it quits now while we're both ahead. What do ya say?" She tried to smile pleasantly.

Another, fiercer jet of fire spat in her direction. She barely managed to jump out of the way in time. "Okay," she growled, picking herself up off of the ground, "that was a cheap shot."

Schuyler closed her eyes in concentration briefly, centering energy into her blade. It was a little trick that Ciprianus had taught her. To strengthen your blade, put energy in it. She wasn't sure if even all of her energy would be enough to keep the blade together against a dragon. She put about half her being into the knife, then opened her eyes, ignorng the stars dancing in front of them. It was the weirdest feeling, having energy sapped out of you.

Just as the dragon was getting ready to release another stream of flame, Schuyler darted left, then right. She did it with such amazing speed that the dragon was still trying to catch up to her movements when she was right next to him.

"Hello. Lovely day, eh?" she said cheerily, thrusting her blade into the dragon's neck area. Or at least trying to. The tip of the blade bent sideways, and she watched it with horror. Now, she had a useless weapon and an extremely pissed of dragon to deal with. Schuyler tried to roll out of his reach, but he snapped his tail at her, knocking the wind out and sending her sprawling into a tree.

Somewhere in the tumble, she had dropped her knife. Like it had done her any good in the first place, but standing drunkenly, unarmed, she looked pathetic. Come on, she chided herself. Are you just going to die? You deserve to die. This fight is just sad.

Spotting her knife, she sprung from the cover of the trees, feeling the ache of broken ribs. The dragon spotted her desperate attempt to regain her only defense, and let out a roar, looking pleased that it was about to end. The dragon made his way toward's Schuyler, deliberately slow.

She had gotten her knife back, but found it cracked in two. Somewhere in the back of her mind, Schuyler mourned the blade that had belonged to her dad was ruined. But now was not the time to be sad about destroyed keepsakes. The dragon swung his tail around again, and Schuyler jumped, almost avoiding it. It clipped her back heel though, and tripped her. She fell backwards, hearing more crackling noise coming from her ribcage.

The scream couldn't be contained any longer. The bones grated together, sending a flame almost as hot as the dragon's ripping down her abdomen. Each breath was fire: how was she supposed to fight? The dragon paused to watch her agony, watching her try and fail to stand. After a few seconds of watching the show, the dragon began moving in for the finishing blow. It seemed much more calm now, as if the fight had been stress-relief.

I don't want to die, Schuyler pleaded with her body, a few tears beginning to roll down her cheek. She tried get it to cooperate. Let me move. Let me fight. It did not. She remained on the ground, defeated.

Damien saw a another dragon going in to kill something, Damien couldn't see what it was but it was something. Damien carged at the draogn as his hands turned into dragon's claws. Damien grabbed the dragon and continued flying. he rushed into a tree with full force and stopped at the right second so he wouldn't hit the tree. Damien jumped back as his wings folded agienst his back. Damien waited to see what the dragon's next move was. Damien knew it took more then that to keep a full dragon down.

In astonishment, Schuyler watcehd Damien swoop from out of nowhere and plow the dragon into a tree. Instantly, she had hope again. Rising shakily, with support from a tree, she watched the fight.

-------------------

That scream. It had been Schuyler's. A sudden fear struck Ciprianus and he moved faster than he had ever moved in his entire life. He smelled her scent, and zeroed in on it, not paying attention to anything but her. He almost fell into a crater, but didn't have time to wonder what a hole was doing in the middle of nowhere. He saw her leaning against a tree heavily, pale and weak. He saw her blade snapped in two. He saw his target and another dragon fighting each other fiercely.

Ciprianus shook his head and stopped beside Schuyler, putting a hand lightly on her shoulder. Where are you hurt? he demanded.

I'm fine, she replied through thought, in too much pain to actually speak. I'm not going to kick the bucket any time soon. Go help him. He'll need it.

Ciprianus reluctantly left Schuyler's side. But she was right. Dragon-boy was going to need help. And besides, in a way, he had saved Schuyler. He owed him. A green-blue aura of pure energy formed around him as he padded slowly over to the fight, trying to focus on the task at hand.

Damien, not waiting for the draogn to get back up, rushing at the dragon agien this time to dig his claws into the dragon...knives my not be able to cut through dragon scales but dragon claws can. but before Damien could get his hands on the dragon it exhaled and flames shot towards Damien. Damien didn't have to time change his skin into his flame proof scales and was engulfed in flames. damien fell ot the ground and tried to put out the fire...it didn't hurt him at first but then he let out a painful cry. The flames went out when Damien managed to get his scales out. His scales were jet black insted of aqua blue like they were supposed to be though. Damien panted staring at the draogn and then fell to the ground...still awake but barley, he didn't have enough energy to begin with.

Ciprianus put a hand on Damien's shoulder. Take it easy kid, he thought.

Then he charged at the dragon. It could sense that he was not what he appeared to be, and grew apprehensive. As Ciprianus leapt onto its back, the dragon rolled, trying to crush him.

Ciprianus released his hold, and waited for the dragon to stop rolling. Then he vanished, reappearing behind it. The aura on his right hand formed a blade in his hand, and he grasped it with both, bringing it down hard on the dragon's tail. There was a metal on metal grating noise, and then a roar of pain fromt he dragon. Part of its tail lay lifeless on the ground.

The dragon thundered around, crashing into trees and rocks, trying to make sense of what had just happened. Blood splattered everywhere, and the dragon realized that if it stayed, it would most likely die. With a shudder, the dragon started to flap his wings, trying to gain momentum. Ciprianus watched him escape, smirking. Bleeding to death was a much slower death than he would have recieved if he'd stayed and fought.

The greenish-blue aura around Ciprianus died down, and he casually walked over to Damien, still smirking. He offered him a hand.

back in the tent, edward had awoken from all the noise. he pulled himself up, with the assistance of one of the tent's supports, and was looking out from the tent's door. he noticed a low hanging branch that would make a good staff for him to use until he fully recovered, so he bit it off at about 5 and a half feet in length. he began walking toward all the noise, calling out "hey, whats going on?"

"Dammit Edward!" Schuyler coughed. "Go lie back down, and don't get up again until you're well! Got it?" The fire of each breath gave her more anger to fuel her words.

Ciprianus watched Schuyler shouting with an amused look. You're not one to be giving orders, he said coyly. He helped Damien to his feet, making sure that there was nothing seriously wrong with the kid. All of his precious squishables seemed in tact, despite the fragile meat sack interior. Well, at least it was fragile when he wasn't in dragon form.

Can you tell Damien that it's not in his best interest to run away in his condition? He is overly exhausted and I think he's hurting himself.

Right, Schuyler replied, trying to hold her breath for as long as she could, trying to avoid unecessary rib movement. I'll just use my best singing voice. Shouldn't be a problem.

Ciprianus scoffed at her, but came over to heal her. Are they really that bad? he asked, tentatively lifting her shirt to inspect the wound.

Pretty bad, she thought, gritting her teeth together as he ran an experimental hand over them. Worst I've ever had.

He sighed and put a hand over the dark bruise, green light coming from his hand. There were several ugly popping noises, and Schuyler let out an involuntary scream. When it was finished, she only felt worse.

That didn't help at all, she snarled, clinging to the tree for dear life. He picked her up without much resistance.

I realligned the ribs and sped up the bone regrowth process. You still need to be immobile for a few days, despite the extremely rapid speed of healing. Too complicated for you to understand. He chortled, enjoying her angry face. Realligning bones hurts, Schuyler. You should know that by now.

He brushed past Edward, giving him a slightly dirty look. Then he set Schuyler down in the tent beside the mat. Don't take dragons on again alone, okay?

Ugh. Ciprianus could be a life saver one moment, and then a real a** the next.
