Rogue sat still focussing on the heartbeats she could hear closest to the door outside. The knock at the door did not move her eyes from the floor.
I...can't...control...
Rogue put her head down, her hands holding her head as she was in growing pain. Two sides of her warred for control in this moment.
A growl escaped her again, the very essence of what she was was taking over.

The scent of synthetic blood filled the room. Not as sweet as blood straight from a human. Not as strong. The heartbeat of the hunter in the room made her focus fall on his eyes. It was as if the hunter knew what was coming, and knew he had fallen to the title of prey in this moment.
His scent of fear filled the room. Rogue's eyes went dark, and before he even had a chance to scream, she was atop him in a blur of speed, knocking him to the floor. In another blur, her fangs were ripping out his throat, and she was draining the life from him. A roar escaped from her throat as she finished him, almost as if she were not proud of what she was.

She stood slowly, making a careful attempt at not finding Alexz's eyes, and walked to the table where the synthetic blood sat. She picked up each bottle until they were empty and then licked off the immediate blood around her mouth, then cleaned off the remainder of blood on her chin.

Rogue turned, looking into Alexz's eyes.
Rogue had not ripped apart a human this badly in a long time. At least since the diamond.

Alexz kept her gaze focused on her feet as Rogue fed; partly because such a thing should be done in privacy and partly because she was now angry that Rogue had let herself come to that point. She had assumed that the diamond had taught a lesson, but she was evidently wrong in thinking so.

She stepped forward and opened the door as Rogue moved to the tray. The same guard who had made the delivery now had to clean up the mess. As he removed what was left of the hunter from the room, Alexz moved to a chair against the wall opposite Rogue. She silently slid into its seat and crossed her legs. It took her a moment to raise her gaze to Rogue and she met her eyes almost reluctantly.

"An explanation would be lovely." she spoke, her voice as cold as the expression on her face.

What had compelled Rogue to ignore her hunger for so long Alexz could not even begin to fathom. Especially since the diamond. Just the thought of reverting back to that state made her cringe.

Rogue did not avert her eyes...not in challenge, but to show she would not be dodging around the issue. A sign of respect to really answer the question.
Body language was something that helped vampires survive, as they had time to perfect the use and reading of such things. Alexz did not need to see body language as she was one of the most capable psychic vampire's she had ever met, but it was more Rogue showing respect and gratitude than anything.

"I thank you for stopping a complete massacre." Though you know how we crave the destruction and blood and terror..."And I am sorry for losing control..." Though you know the struggle of wanting to let go completely, Alexz... "And having moral qualms is not something I should ever do on a continual basis. I was staying in one of the covens in Slovenia and came across a monastery in the mountains. I wanted a good hunt, and I wanted Kaei to be silenced. A few monks was all I wanted. I killed two in the night. They were sleeping soundly. While I was finishing the second, a third witnessed what happened and began praying against me first in whispers, then out loud.

I saw him and set his brother on the floor and merely listened. He told me he knew something was coming and that death would wash the monastery. He asked me if I lived a fulfilled life...he asked if I was happy with whatever this world had made me."
He asked me of love and if I knew I could be loved by God...

Rogue's eyes looked then to the floor as emotion filled her...she let it fill her for the first time in centuries.

"It has been 5 weeks since I have eaten, Alexz."

Alexz's face softened as she listened to Rogue's words and thoughts and as she observed her body language. She appreciated her honesty and respect more than she could express.

It amazed her to remember where she stood amongst the elders years ago in comparison to where she stood now. The dynamics between them all had changed so drastically it was almost as if they were different people. She was truly grateful for every ounce of respect she received since she had not be accustomed to being thought of in such high regards.

Being so close to Rogue was surreal in a way. Their initial acquaintanceship had been very tense, nothing compared to their friendship now. Alexz had always been intimidated by Rogue, since she was far better a fighter than Alexz could ever esteem to be. She respected Rogue just as much as Rogue she. Their mutual respect certainly helped in easing Alexz's frustration.

She exhaled slowly and nodded, "I understand." she said softly as she began to ponder what the monk had told Rogue.

Her gaze shifted to the corner of the room, "Do you think we can? I sometimes think he's forgotten us...after all we've done, I'd forget us, too..." her face seemed pained for a moment before she regained control.

"Promise me you won't let that happen again? You're not a monster, Rogue, I don't like seeing you become one. You're better than that." Alexz returned her gaze to meet Rogue's.

Rogue did not quite expect many in their race to understand what had happened a few weeks back. She had yet to meet a Sanguinarian that would even hear the monk's words without dismissing them. She was glad that Alexz could do more than hear Rogue's words.
She could read Rogue's thought process, and sense feelings and know lie from truth...sincerity from insincerity.

She took a deep breath and let out a sigh, closing her eyes.
The problem is, I feel myself as Kaei, even after all these years, hearing whatever is left of the human I once was. Is the greater evil ignoring the morality I still feel and being soulless...
Or do we listen to our own humanity...

"We are monsters, though...as hard as I try to escape what I am, I still exist as.....as this thing..."
With the last word she opened her eyes to look at her hands, palms up, her fangs elongating, her eyes aglow letting what she was show freely.

After centuries you'd think some of this would make sense.

Alexz had always felt as if she was the most in tune with human emotions out of all the elders. Being psychic certainly made it difficult to be as ruthless as the others were capable of being.

It was impossible for her to completely ignore the thoughts of the humans around her, though time certainly made it easier to silence them for extended periods of time. Her psychic abilities were what made it so difficult for her to feed on an take the lives of humans; once her fangs latched on, all of the human's memories, secrets, and thoughts were rushed into her mind just as quickly as the blood began to rush through her system. Their final thoughts were always what haunted her most, they so raw, so filled with emotion...so very human...

"Even the worst of us haven't lost our human selves...only ignored them, locked them away in our subconscious...I hear the human in each of us every day, fighting to be heard but not strong enough to make a lasting impression..."

It was interesting to explore the depths of the minds around her. She saw everyone in somewhat of a different light, both as humans and as...monsters. It was all very strange.

"We're not that far gone..." she wouldn't accept defeat, she wouldn't surrender to the monster within her.

"Whoever said everything gets easier with time doesn't know the half of it..."

"You see and hear more than we do every day. You hear their dreams, their aspirations...their fragile lives...and I forget."

I choose to forget what I was, for that is what I no longer am. And even when I want to walk away from the bloodshed, I am brought back more violently than before.

She shifted her gaze back to Alexz.
I suppose I have more of Kaei than I realized. How I integrate my entire self...that will be the trick and will only take more time...lucky for us, we have it...

"We have matters of blackmail to discuss...we need Neko and the Tainted on our side for the days ahead...and I don't think she would want to work with us willingly. But she does not want any of her species exposed to the public, which, in our case, is completely understandable. But, there is certain footage I have collected during the clean up of the diamond. Certain footage captured on a cell phone at the docks. You remember our...meeting at the docks several months back?"
PostPosted: Tue Nov 10, 2009 8:46 pm

"Their minds are so different from ours yet so alike...Their time is limited so they are constantly abuzz with emotions and thoughts, it's neverending, whereas we have so much time...we take it for granted, we sleep for centuries and waste our time because it means nothing to us...I miss that urgency, that zest for life...we have bouts of hyperactivity,e when our human selves are unleashed, but other than that...we're dead." Alexz sighed.

Did they have dreams and aspirations? At times, she had observed, but they were usually malicious and manipulative, not glorious and dazzling. The affect time had on them all was terrible, those who were once radiant human beings were now nothing more than misanthropes.

"Too much time for our own good..." She shook her head.

As Rogue mentioned the ever so memorable night at the docks, the pain in Alexz's stomach returned. Her face turned cold as stone and her eyes flashed with anger for a split second, perceptible to Rogue, but not to most.

"Yes, I remember it very well." she said through a clenched jaw, "Where is said footage? And of what is it in particular?"

"Too much time, indeed. My artwork has been scattered through the centuries, but nothing more. I have brought much death through the world, both to Lycans, and to humans...I have been a warrior, and more bent on our mindless and most natural task - taking life."

She caught Alexz's anger.

"I know its hard to talk about. To remember all the things we've done. But, lucky for us, the footage was not of any vampire per say. The moment captured was of Neko, in her tainted form, moving quickly and attacking me. It looks as if she is attacking a poor woman in the night."

Rogue tried not to feel the hole in her stomach where the diamond once was, but it was if the mental wound it caused would never heal...nor the remembered monstrous thirst they all were without hope of being satisfied.
Was the light worth it?
Some days it was...
Though she was damned to the night once more.

"The other footage I have of the incident has been isolated. I don't think anyone needs to be reminded of our savagery that pinnacled night."
PostPosted: Fri Nov 13, 2009 3:30 pm

"Humans are so unobservant, they have yet to realize how much of your artwork spans centuries." Alexz remarked with a shake of her head.

She sighed. It was very easy for them to kill, especially with the diamond...she winced. But the psychological aspects of killing always burdened her, she was simply unable to kill without reason.

Nodding slowly she spoke with a smirk, "Blackmail, I like it."

Had it been several months prior to that moment, Alexz would never have dreamed of doing anything to take advantage of Neko. Her eyes darkened as she smirked more freely. The diamond had left a dark presence within her. Was the diamond worth all the trouble? Yes...no? It was difficult to say.

Alexz closed her eyes for a moment to remember the sight of the sun, the smell of the daylight on her skin. The city was such a different place during the day. She opened her eyes to find she was grinning. Upon further mention of their behavior on that night at the Docks, the grin faded.

"I would love to wish that memory right out of my mind."

Rizu sprinted across the roof tops out of the Lycan territory, he figured while he was out he might as well stop and get her some human food. Perosnally Rizu hated the stuff but he assumed that it would ease her into the whole transofrmation thing. He was not sure what it was, he hated that b***h. But something inside him just refused to allow him to be cruel to her. Of course he never had to be nice, but if for any reason he even thought about doing something that could cause her direct harm his mind and body more or less refused to do so. So was the bond of the pack, the foundation of what the entire Lycan Race was built apon. Something that Rizu had always sworn himself to and would never turn his back on, no matter how much he hated her he would love and protect her as part of his family until the day that she was strong and independant enough to leave the pack of her own free will. For now they were chained together, he had the key to their freedom but it was up to him to teach her the proper way to turn it.

Rizu sprung himself off of a near by roof before spirling down to the ground, landing with a quick plop across the streets of New York City. It only took him a short scan to locate his guns and her blade. He only pondered for a moment about leaving it there but decided not too. What would be the point of that really? Other than of course to be spiteful. Rizu picked it up from the hilt, making sure not to touch the actual blades. The silver in them were entirely too much for him to deal with.

Once he had the weapons secure he ripped off a peice of rotten news paper from a trash can to make sure he had no direct contact with her silver. "I guess.. I guess I could go buy some meats." He figured before trotting off to go and purchase meat, what a waste of money.

(( Please note: This is for plot line purposes, hence my Godmodding against NPCs. Under normal, non-plot related circumstances it is prohibited. ^^ ))

Las Noches had a few select people they were supposed to be looking out for and keeping out of the establishment and of those people Meredith Jackson was likely the most notorious. So naturally when she crossed the line between city property and the property of Las Noches the bouncers were quick to get the message to Rogue that an uninvited guest was in line.

The line took a few minutes to weed through and then it was finally Meredith's turn to be inspected and IDed. Now with no one else as a witness the vampiric bouncers bared their fangs at her and informed her that she was not welcome nor was she to be permitted into Las Noches.

At the news Meredith simply smiled, it was sadistic and very unMeredith-like. "Rogue should know me better than that. I don't respect her rules or orders. If she gets to pick and choose which rules she plays by then I'm certainly subject to the exact same treatment meaning I'm going to bust this place up a little if I please."

The bouncer gave her a hardened look and took a step forward in warning to the hunter leader who was clearly crossing the line. It had no effect on Eden, only caused her amused smile to heighten. "Look ... I'll give you two options ... One, you can get out of my way right now and you won't die ... Two, you can resist and I will snap your neck and watch your fellow vampire feast from your neck. Want to test me?"

For a moment the bouncer hesitated but he knew Rogue would be displeased if he simply allowed this lycan to walk onto the premises. There were two of them and one of her, what could she possibly hope to accomplish against two of them? Instead of standing his ground the first bouncer attacked while the second also circled around behind Meredith while the first came from the front.

Eden's smile widened. "So be it."

She went to physically attack the first guard while the one behind her she attacked mentally and he let out a wretched shriek that Meredith prevented from escaping into the more or less empty streets. The first guard she caught by the shoulder and slammed him into the side of the building with ease, denting the cement as she looked up at him. "I warned you," was all she said to him as she used her other hand to take the top of his head and snapped it to the side.

As the other vampire recovered he held the side of his head and caught sight of his comrade. His eyes widened in horror and then suddenly went blank as he began making his way to his fallen comrade. Once the second bouncer reached the first he began frantically draining his ally until a gaping hole was made through his chest and a UV bullet was put through both him and his comrade. Dusted.

With that obstacle out of the way, Meredith casually made her way into the club and looked around, keeping an ear, nose and eye out for any elders. It wasn't very long before she locked onto not one but two elder's auras and made her way over toward them. The only words of Rogue's and Alexz's conversation that Eden caught were Alexz's words including blackmail and wishing some memory to be ridded from her mind.

The hunter leader stepped forward from behind Alexz and assured her sadistically, "I could help you forget ..." Her head then sharply turned to Rogue, a glare evident in her features. "I suggest we either depart for elsewhere or you clear out this club. I'm not here to dance or drink."

A low growl came from Rogue, as well as bared teeth, her eyes beginning to glow at the cocky retort to Alexz's sincerity.
"You are not welcome here Meredith." Rogue spat, having almost lost control only moments before, Rogue was being given an opportunity to let out rage, the bloodlust she felt before, not quite completely subsided. Meredith had not seen such a monster, and Rogue was sure of it.

"I suggest you leave before my patience, and composure run out, and I have to kill you for simply entering my territory."

Rogue's eyes were locked on Meredith, even though she knew Meredith would be coming from the psychic guards messaging Rogue's mind.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 18, 2009 1:37 pm

Alexz hissed at Meredith's intrusion without turning to face her. Having remembered Veroen's affiliation with the hunter leader who now stood so closely to her made a growl rumble in her throat.

"Now now, sneaking up on those far more advanced in age may be wise in regards to humans..." she began, before teleporting behind Meredith, "...but it's awfully foolish with us." she whispered coldly.

To Meredith, it would seem as if Alexz were directly behind her, she would even be able to feel the illusion of a chilling breath on her neck. However in reality, she had put a distance of a few feet between them. Meredith was a capable fighter, she was not foolish enough to place herself too closely to the Hunter leader.

"You must have a death wish...would you like me to make that one come true for you?" she suggested, baring her fangs.

Rogue's growl was nothing that would cause Meredith to think twice about her decision and only encouraged the lycan to return the growl. "I certainly noticed that. I don't think your lackeys were very happy to let me in. I suppose they thought they'd rather take their chances with you pissed off at them than me devoid of my ability to give a damn about them and their lack of involvement in what I'm here for."

"I suggest you choose your preference as to where we meet so that I can have an outlet for this grief and hatred. I'm not here to play games. I want you bleeding, in agony and to pay for the deaths of both my children and nearly my own." There was no seething anger but a cold calmness much more eerie than that of full out hatred. She wanted them to suffer and she didn't care that it went against her morals.

"If I was sneaking, mon petit, you wouldn't have seen me coming. I don't need to slink around and hide in the dark unlike the likes of you." It was clear her statement was directed at more than just Alexz.

Upon Alexz's dark words sinking into her, Meredith's hazel eyes became speckled with amber until she blinked and the next blink her eyes were fully amber. Wolven eyes if one had ever beheld them. "I do have a death wish but it is not for myself. See I have more than a bone to pick, I have bones I intend to snap then disintegrate into dust. That you can definitely make true for me. You may even stand down and make this easy for me if you wish but I assure you I'm not leaving until the result is the two of you dead or myself." A malevolent smile gripped her lips which parted enough to reveal ivory white fangs more than prepared to do battle.

Once she lost her patience at the vampiric elder being too close within her vicinity, Meredith struck out though her nose wasn't fully convinced this was Alexz. She knew that the woman was the head of the psychics of the coven and loved to play with minds. Meredith didn't have nearly as much experience with her abilities as Alexz had but she was starting to be able to see through simple illusions and tricks. She could at the very least protect her mind from any stupid stunts in attempts of gaining control over her. As she reached out to grasp the elder's neck she realized a few seconds too late that Alexz was, in reality, a farther distance away.

Meredith struggled not to strike out fully and close that distance but the past few months had taught her a few things. Discipline had been a huge factor in her training and control. She needed control of herself to fight to fight at her best and control was what she was executing as she held herself in place instead of closing the simple bound that remained between her and Alexz. If the elder thought that distance would keep her safe from Meredith then the psychic elder was in for a rough time.
