Lady Psycho Sexy Harupiggy I liked Griffin. It was different. o.o
Shade was the one who ate bat to drug those two vampire bats, right? Shade was proud, ballsy, and brilliant. Griffin was a clumsy, sniveling wimp with separation anxiety and a guilt complex. Shade resented being treated as the runt and aimed for greatness; Griffin just kind of accepted that he was no more than Luna's shadow. Marina must have had an affair with Chinook, because there's no way something so useless could come out of Shade's gene pool.
Yeah, Shade was the one who came up with the ******** plan to drug their captors and escape in broad daylight. And let's not forget his mad sonar l33tskillz. Wtf did Griffin have? Oooh, streaked fur. That's SO cool. rolleyes

Well, maybe that was the point? It was always an acknowledged fact that Griffin was in no way his father's image. Shade's badass, I'm not denying it. It was just interesting to see that in the character foil.
Third book needed more Marina. D<
I just liked how the different story arcs played out, and enjoyed how each character reacted.
Also, rather than just a ******** plan, I liked for a bit how Marina and Shade interacted afterwards. I wanted moar, but Oppel failed to deliver that same feeling.

otawara Wantcookie Lady Psycho Sexy otawara Harupiggy otawara Come on guys, it's time to claim your roles in Earth. So far I have a few roles missing- Optional Boss The Traveling Vendor Annoying Sidequest Provider 1 Annoying Sidequest Provider 2 Tell me who you wanna be and their personality, damn it. D< Add more things as to why they're where they are, their objective, etc. I WANNA BE THE SOMEWHAT CREEPY VENDOR WHO HITS ON EVERYBODY AS A MEANS TO SELL PRODUCTS ALSO, I WANT TO SELL THINGS THAT FELL OFF THE CART, YOU KNOW, STOLEN GOODS That makes for an interesting concept. I wanna be the high-end collector and reseller of rare and expensive s**t. I guess I can be a sidequest provider and send the protagonist to get me fancy artifacts for huge gold rewards? >>
GODDAMMIT HARU. xd In that case, I totally pick Sidequest Provider and Optional Boss, because nobody expects the NPC to actually fight them. Do you send them on a mission and then fight them? PLEASE GO IN DETAIL It would have to be something goddamn frustrating. Like... Send the player off on a short quest. They go out, grab a specific item, come back and hand it to you. Reject the item, accept it, whatever, but send them out again for something different, and marginally harder to obtain. Rinse and repeat for a while, until they need to get an item that is incredibly frustrating and time-consuming to obtain. Once that has been handed to you, surprise them with a difficult boss fight. Something like this might work best with a scientist character, using the items to create the boss in question, unbeknownst to the party. I suppose Owwin would fit this better. xd In that case, I totally want to be Haru's partner in crime/vending that offers different items (like if he sells weapons, I'd sell armor) and legitimately hits on every customer. xd EDIT: Oh man, you know what'd be awesome? A vendor that sells those frustrating one-chance-only items where if you miss it, it's gone forever. They'd have to sell for ridiculously high amounts of monies, though.

I know, but Griffin wasn't... anything. :/ I mean, Marina wasn't Shade either, but she was way more than just his shadow. Griffin is always the damsel in distress. He doesn't change, he doesn't grow; he's just as big a chickenshit wimp on the last page as he is on the first. Granted, he didn't have people like Frieda to look up to -- oh wait, yes he did, his dad is a ******** legend. You don't have to be a carbon copy of Shade, but you could at least be more than a carbon copy of Jarod.
You mean Marina's resentment toward him? I felt terrible for Shade when he was trying to help her and she thought he was actually a bat-eater. Marina's a b***h. She's pissed at him 50% of the time in Sunwing, and the other 50% she's trying to make him jealous of Chinook.
Maybe I should read the 4th before I pass judgment on Griffin, but I can't get a hold of it. :/

The fourth has nothing to do with Griffin. It's prehistoric, and focuses on the first bat-thing who learns how to fly. :3 Although, even Dusk had more substance than Griffin. It's good anyways. GET IT DO IT f*****t FFFFFFFUUUU- Oh, and he pretty much invented echolocation.
Yeah, Griffin was still a pansy. You know, after crossing the underworld and seeing your father an hero so you and your friend will live, you kinda think you'd build character or something.
I think I felt bad for Shade. Not too sure, I enjoyed the hell out of that part. Marina was kind of annoying. I dunno, I never really thought too much of the characters themselves.
