The Armageddon scenario thing is unavoidable.
I had those human/oil things all over the place and I still couldn't keep demand from dwarfing the supply, which is great for profits, but then that ending thing happens.
At least I lasted almost to 2200.

Weird...
I decided to just mess around in another round of the game, by not doing anything political, just building wells, etc.
Well, by doing so, I maintain decent profits to keep the shareholders happy, while not getting in the way of progressive development.
Eventually, this means that everything slowly goes green and eco-friendly, etc. which results in less and less demand for oil.
So, you end up with this not-so-bad game over where you retire from a successful business after making large profits and society has transformed into a utopia.
Technically, that's a good ending.
