Cody smiled. He returned the kiss and wrapped his arms around Dari. He held him, paused, and stroked his hair. "Oh, I'm an idiot," he promised. Just not in the way Dari meant. He'd been stupid for getting jealous, for thinking Dari could be like that, even for moment.
"I love you," he said.

Dari pulled back only far enough to look Cody in the face.
"No you're not." He stole a kiss and then smiled broadly. "I love you too." Nerdy, brilliant, cheesy, goofy, most-beautiful-average-Joe-he'd-ever-met Cody.

Cody smiled. He nestled his head beside Dari's. "I was jealous," he admitted, "of that idiot. I still have trouble believing I was so lucky." To find someone as lovely as Dari. He'd never cared so much for someone.

Dari's brows furrowed.
"Jealous of what?" That he'd known Hayden first? That he'd danced with Hayden before? That flirting had definitely been one-sided...

Cody paused. Huh. Maybe Dari's flirting hadn't been intentional? "Nothing, love," He said. "I was being an idiot." He pulled away only to look Dari over, and he smiled. "I guess what they say about only children is true, huh? They never learn to share." He hadn't liked Hayden from the time he'd called over to him.

Dari shook his head and booped Cody's nose. "Nobody likes to share. I'd lose my mind if someone started hitting on you."

"Who'd hit on me?" Cody shook his head, smiling at Dari. "Especially in comparison to you. You, my love, will catch everyone's eye."

"Well, you're special," he said, happily. Then he seemed to consider Dari's thought. "I don't really notice," Cody said, and then looked at Dari. He was definitely admiring him. "Want to watch a movie and cuddle?"
Not that he'd be watching the movie.

Dari nodded and kissed Cody on the tip of the nose.
"Let me just wash my hands real quick. I'll meet you there. Pikc something good, hm?" He stood and started backward for the bathroom. "Remember, if it's bad, I can never forgive you." He had gone from total disappointment to playful teasing in less than an hour. That had to be some kind of record, and Cody had been a main player.

Cody went and selected an Indy movie he was sure Dari hadn't seen. It was about two gay guys and ended hapoily; a rarity, he'd noticed. Most of them were tear jerkers. "Don't worry! I won't pick a bad one."

"You haven't disappointed me yet!" Dari called back. He let the warm water wash over his fingers for a while even after they were clean, admiring the way his skin reacted, and the fluid movement over flesh. He was more viscous than water, more resilient, but living inside of an illusion made of flesh and blood. Smiling, he came back out with dry hands.

Cody stood and wrapped his arms around Dari when he arrived. He pulled him down onto the couch. "I found a movie," he said, glancing towards the television.

Dari embraced Cody back, closing his eyes for just a moment, and then fell down onto the couch with him. He turned his head toward the television. Huh. Not one he'd heard of before.
"Okay," was all he could think of to say as he snuggled in close.

Cody hit play, but that was the most attention he gave to the television. He stroked Dari's hair, smiling softly. This was love; pure and honest love. He couldn't think of a better word for it..
He kissed Dari's forehead.
