"Oh, hey there Dan." Sub said to the trainer. "Ah, she is with you, alright then, I was about to go in panic mode...that could have gotten ugly." He said with a mild chuckle. "Any who, so you want to join. You have any Pokemon on you?" He asked her.

I shook my head at myself in disbelief. What the hell did I just say?

"I, uh, nevermind," I sputtered, looking away embarrasedly. Oh, boy, I was in it this time. I didn't respond to Reno's chiding, because he hit the nail right on the head. No need for further comment there.

"Why don't we, ah, take this elsewhere," I said to Reno, giving him a slightly pleading look. "This isn't the best place for it, with all the people and, ah, breakable objects around. We've actually got a nice place for it, ah, somewhere in back, I think. A training room, from what I hear. We'd be playing it safe to battle there."

I walked away a little disbelievingly as Reno left the main lobby. If he thought I was a 'walking blunder', wait until he met Freya.

That thought left me as we headed into the training room. One look into Reno's eyes told me I had the first pick of what to bring out, and although it went against my style, I went with it.

Samurai the Oshawott stepped forward, his scalchop in his hand. This should be good.

Snivy, the Grass Snake Pokemon.

It is very intelligent and calm. Being exposed to lots of sunlight makes its movements swifter. They photosynthesize by bathing their tails in sunlight. When they are not feeling well, their tails droop.

Good thing we're underground, I thought. Although his Snivy looks nice and healthy.

As I was thinking this, and learning about Reno's pokemon, Samurai instinctively blocked Snivy's Leaf Blade with his scalchop, the seashell already glowing in the blue energy of his Razor Shell attack.

"Focus, Samurai!" I told the otter pokemon. He assumed a defensive stance after he pushed the giant leaf away, focusing his energy while waiting for the opportune moment.

Samurai tried to smack away the seed, but the energy blade didn't come into contact with it. Instead, Samurai accidentally smacked the seed with the scalchop itself, and the seed latched on, roots slipping out and twirling around Samurai's arm, fastening the scalchop to his arm. This did not amuse.

"Samurai, lock him up with a Water Pulse!" I told him.

Mind you, if this was a real fight, I would have swapped Samurai out right off the bad, what with the type disadvantage and all. But no, this was to help Reno's pokemon get stronger, so that he'll be able to do more for the team. That's why I let Samurai fight, and that's what put him in the predicament he is.

Samurai focused on Snivy as the Grass-type was lifted up in a chunk of water. Hopefully, this would keep Snivy from attacking right away, giving me the time to form a better strategy. But with Pokemon, anything was possible...

Floating in the sphere of water, Snips stared at the Oshawott. From the look in its eyes, it was calling the Oshawott a coward. Reno smirked again, knowing he could pull out of this. "Snips, use Leaf Storm on Oshawott and slash out of the Water Pulse with Leaf Blade."

The Snivy quickly responded, summoning up a gale of swirling leaves around the Oshawott, while he slashed at the Water Pulse. While it still detonated, it did less damage than if it had been left to fully power up. Keeping the Blade out in front of it, Snivy glared at the Oshawott, daring it to attack with its scallop.

Snips blocked the Oshawott's Aqua Jet with its Leaf Blade, putting both hands onto the leaf to make sure he held it off. Pushing back, Snips watched the blade break after sending the Oshawott away. Reno kept his usual smirk and said, "Snips, another Leaf Blade."

The Snivy drew out another leaf and jumped at the downed Oshawott, bringing the leaf down to stab into the Sea Otter Pokemon.
