{Bobbi, Yuffie, Zell, Demyx, Red XIII .:. Narnia .:. Sinking Rubble >> Solid Ground}

Bobbi looked up at Zell's shout, but grunted when she noticed the airborne Heartless were targeting the castle and not her friends. That was a plus. When leader!Joe announced they were going to keep pushing forward, the archer nodded and forged on ahead, blessing Axel's "Final Strike" and the fact that it had wiped out nearly everything in the immediate vicinity. This gave her a chance to concentrate ahead. Her mind whirled in tight little circles, yet somehow managed to dance away from the thought of Axel's demise—there would be time enough to grieve when they were all safe and sound away from this god forsaken place.

I'm not the fastest, but I'm not the slowest either. I'm ranged, I have my shield wall, I should really be scouting ahead and clearing the path for the rest of the group, but…

The memory of the last time she tried scouting ahead in Narnia—well, okay, Terabinthia or whatever—made her shiver, and she shied away from that train of thought as well. Not remembering something naturally was fine. Not remembering it because the memories had been stolen was an entirely different matter, and one she had no desire to repeat. Just thinking about it was making her breath catch…

Or maybe that was all the running.

Her head snapped up at the explosion of violet light, and she watched the ray-like Heartless plummet towards the earth. Her gaze focused back on the castle once she heard the voice on the air, one that didn't belong to any of her friends and wasn't conveniently stored in her head. She stumbled as the boosts her friends had handed out like candy were suddenly stripped from them, but luckily caught herself before the stumble turned into a fall.

She skidded to a halt, arms flailing wildly as she tried to keep her balance, when she saw the beast evolving before their eyes.

"So, what's the game plan for giant angry dragon-demons?"

"I recommend killing it. Cover me, I need to aim," Bobbi said, surprising herself with how calm she was. She nocked an arrow and concentrated on keeping her innate Ice element locked up. It wouldn't do any good against this thing, after all. She took a moment to aim at what was probably the beast's most vulnerable spot: it's eye—and absently nodded as gravity!Joe gave the heads-up about the nerfed buffs. Once she was sure she had a lock on her target, she loosed her arrow and set another to the bowstring, waiting to see if the first would hit before she bothered to fire another.

Completely oblivious to Bobbi's previous experience with forward-ranging and memory draining, Yuffie took it on herself to be a forward scout. She darted ahead of the party, but was careful to stay within range if she needed any kind of support, mostly darting from flank to flank behind gravity!Joe. She hadn't been close to Axel, had probably exchanged all of three words with the guy, but the loss of a comrade was enough to seriously piss the ninja off, and she kept hear weapon at the ready.

When the ninja felt the enhancements fade—especially the Haste, it was her favorite—she looked back at the group behind her, almost scowling but not quite. Her expression was more of a pout than anything, but she'd intended it to be a scowl.

"Hey!" she called back, "who turned the magic off?!" When she heard the roar of the dragon, her eyes widened and she whipped back around, gaping up—and up, and up—at the beast.

Zell looked around at the other kids as they all hustled to keep up with their leader. He was surprised at their reaction to Axel's death, but then again he probably shouldn't be. Most of these "kids" were older than he was, but he couldn't seem to think of most of them as adults. Such a lack of worldly experiences for a lot of them. Although, this adventure of theirs was making them grow up fast.

Maybe too fast.

Zell wound his way to the middle, keeping up an easy lope that let him circle the core of the group. Their healers and most of their ranged folks were in the middle, and he intended to protect them from anything that got too close. He was useless against the mist creeping in that negated the boosting spells that had already been cast.

When he heard new!Joe say that one of his protective spells had been "eaten," Zell gritted his teeth, but there wasn't anything he could do about the situation.

He was pretty sure he should be upset, at least. Enraged, certainly. Axel was the only other Nobody in the group at the moment, and was probably the closest thing the Melodious Nocturne had to a friend. But somehow, Demyx just couldn't muster the emotions. Part of being a Nobody, he guessed. Still, there was a kind of pain in his chest. It almost felt like regret, for some reason.

He shrugged and decided to figure it out later. Probably just heartburn or something.

"Hey, good idea!" Demyx exclaimed when he saw the tidal wave Dani had brought to clean the bridge. He was all for this idea—clean-up duty meant he didn't have to be lectured for being useless, and he got to stay back out of the way of the real fighting. Total win-win situation right there.

That was, until everything went bonkers (which was becoming a regular occurrence when it came to hanging out with the Earth kids, and Demyx wasn't liking that one bit) and all of a sudden there was a freaking dragon-demon-thing blocking their path! He went into a defensive crouch, ready to play on his sitar any spell he might need to keep the thing at bay.

"Whoa! Who invited him to the party?!"

Nanaki took it upon himself to cover the left flank of the party, racing up and down, making sure the group stayed together without bunching up too much, and guarding against anything heading in. He kept glancing at Kyla to make sure she was keeping up. He was curious how he had managed to knock her over, as the two falls she'd taken had not been his intent. All he'd been trying to do was to get her to move, not knock her to the ground. That was counter-productive. He was pleased to see that she was keeping up, however.

He hardly noticed when the buffs were stripped, as he was concentrating on the words being said. He couldn't be sure, but the syntax and cadence sounded rather like a spell… Specifically, one of summoning.

As it turned out, he was correct.

Nanaki let out a roar, putting on a burst of speed to get closer to the demon, preparing to throw as many Fire spells as he could manage at the beast.

[ Kyle ; Sora ; Riku ; ??? ; Earthlings : Narnia : Bridge ]
[ Still Cuing : Saber's Edge ]

"Thanks, duly noted," Kyle replied, his tone tense but not negative or hostile. Of course, then things took another a turn again (again [again]).

The amazonian-like sorceress ahead of them stopped suddenly as the events took place, and in a blink, the daggers were replaced by her staff, and she kicked backward--a line of flames left in her wake as the magic pushed her back so that she was close to the group, just a few meters ahead.

Sora watched through his narrowed gaze as the flying Heartless--which had only just appeared--were pretty much immediately destroyed by a massive eruption that came from the ramparts of the castle ahead. Fantastic. They had magic like that, and they weren't using it on them?

So whoever was in control wanted them in there.

The rest of the events unfolded around him, and with every new piece of flair, he tightened his grip, knowing full well what was coming. The singing, the towers, the monstrosity that devoured darkness to make itself grow ever-greater in size--there was no running. There was finally a battle.

If only the first stage, anyway.

Riku slid to a stop and already had his blade back and stance ready as the events took place. He noted, with some concern, the weaving patterns of blue and white--they reminded him quite clearly of the lines that had appeared on Kyle's flesh down in Atlantis.

The others all slid to a halt, trying to figure out what best to do; the sudden lack of buffs was concerning, to be sure, and some were already readying their moves again.

It was only now that the sorceress was so close, hearing their voices, that she realized they were even there--and so, the small giantess turned around in surprise, her ember-colored eyes gleaming in the night. "Who in the blazes are you?"

Of course, the sudden roar of the beast to the bridge shook her away from her distractions, turning her gaze forward once again. She shook her head, chuckling. "You know what? Doesn't matter. More people to spread my legend!"

And so, staff in hand, she lifted her free hand above her and began to slowly spin it around, as if weaving flames out of the air. Her very presence was warm--but as it was, no spell had been cast. Yet.

Of particular note, Jenny felt a heavy weight when the mists drew over them, dispelling their buffs. She didn't stop playing--so her Haste was reapplied--but with every enchanting note, it was as if her magic was being constantly severed. The weaves found their targets, but moments, mere moments later, they unraveled.

She shared a thought with Dawn, and found the Dancer was suffering the same pressures. In order to cope with the constant nullification, the two were forced to focus on one wide-spread buff each--any attempt at other assistance would immediately cut their spells. And so, she shared that information with Joseph (the leader) before the two applied what little assistance they could: Haste from Jenny and Bubble from Dawn, speeding everyone up again while also doubling their health.

Meanwhile, Matthew and Sayrike both attempted to Scan their opponent new opponent, twice each, hoping for some helpful information--hoping that, on the chance that they each only received limited information each Scan, they might both receive different pieces of the puzzle.

Anthony gave out another Battle Cry in order to boost their physical abilities--and yet those around who were affected by it would have felt the magic dissolve as soon as they felt invigorated.

That's when space-Joe announced the revelation, confirming the issues Jenny and Dawn had had. So in dismay and frustration, Anthony charged ahead, shortly behind Nanaki, his giant gauntlets ready to pound the monster into dust. John followed behind, maul at the ready, though even with Haste he was particularly slow.

Kyle had slid to a halt as the events took place, cursing under his breath. While everyone else was acting, he specifically made sure not to act yet--instead, his first moments were spent charging magic.

"Why does every villain act like a ******** DRAMA QUEEN?!" he shouted in frustration, his expression particularly angry as the scene unfolded. The news about the enchantment issues made things particularly annoying--one of his biggest strengths at this point was buffing. But he wasn't charging magic for a buff to begin with, so that was a plus, at least.

Ahead of him, Sora let loose three back-to-back Fira bolts at the new abomination. A short distance away, Riku charged fiery energy into his Keyblade before raising it up, summoning a large sphere of concentrated flaming magic that soon loose a small barrage of Fire bolts, each homing in on the creature.

The dragoon had focused for an extended period of time on the magical weave, and was now ready, throwing out one hand, palm facing the target. A small, brilliant glyph of energy appeared in the air just in front of his palm, with the spinning hands of a clock beginning to slow down. Simultaneously, white light bloomed from the monster's feet as an identical glyph, spinning clock hands and all, appeared beneath it, only much larger--enough to cover the ground upon which it walked. A heavy ticking noise could barely heard through the music, but it was distinctly low, slowing down as the light rose and washed over the creature--an attempt at a twice-charged Slowga.

{James ; Leon : Narnia : Bridge}

James silently nodded his head when Joe finally gave the order to keep moving, though he had noticed that their leader had lost his focus in the heat of the moment, which wasn’t great, but understandable. They were losing numbers, more in this mission alone than had been lost in the entirety of their being here. As the group began to form up to keep moving the corsair fell in at the middle, on the opposite side of the group to Mizu, the ranged users didn’t need to be getting in each other’s way. The corsair, with his long legs and normally very quick stride, had to try his best not to run so fast as to run into their front line fighters. He kept his eyes scanning the sky for any Heartless that might change their course to come at the group. He watched as the massive ray like Heartless was shot out of the sky and with it the sky seemed to clear, both of clouds and Heartless, the full moon’s light a welcome glow on the bridge. The corsair’s eyes focused on the castle as he heard the hum begin followed by the voice and the roiling mist that washed over the bridge.

The corsair noted the loss of speed and strength more than anything as their buffs were removed and the voice grew louder, angrier, the chanting sounding like a summoning. As the towers erupted from the lake and the dragon demon emerged from the coagulating darkness that had been confirmed. They were done with running, this was a fight that they had to win.

”So, What’s the game plan for giant angry dragon-demons?” Gravity!Joe’s question rang out over the charms, quickly met with Mizu’s response.

”What Mizu said, Kill it with Fire!” the corsair called out over the charms, even though he knew most of them didn’t have any fire based attacks. It was intended somewhat as a comical reference that he hoped would not be lost. He raised his hexagun, taking aim at the beast and unleashing two Fira level Fire Shots at the demon. As he did so he felt Haste kick back into effect and a Bubble effect as well, which the corsair was sure would come in handy.

At the order to keep moving Leon quickly made his way to the head of the group along with Joseph, Anthony, and their other front line fighters, his gunblade at the ready as they charged across the bridge. As the mist set in he felt their buff spells stripped away, but didn’t focus on it, the group would do what they could to keep them up if they could. As the Dragon-demon appeared the gunblader followed right behind Nanaki, closing the gap to get into melee range. As he continued to rush forward he charged and unleashed a Fira at the demon, hoping to get a good hit on it.

[Kyla: Narnia: Bridge Beginning]

Originally planning to form another dome to protect her comrads form the areal assault inbound were dashed as the bow wielding woman launched what could only be described as an ‘end-game’ level of magic, and obliterated the hordes blocking the sky above their heads.

She didn’t know if that made her feel any better- the hordes of heartless were destroyed, but seeing, knowing that much fire power was that the enemy’s disposal wasn’t comforting.
And then that voice-

As the mist billowed out from the structure before them, flowing over them like waves of dry ice, Kyla made to cast her buffs on the group- but as soon as she tried, it was gone!
Not good!

Frustration bite at her, an internal voice whined – it wasn’t fair!- but she did not voice it. No, she felt too tired to even moan her displeasure. But- wait, not Merlin said that spell should have kept her fatigue at bay for a while.
It had to be the mist.

Her limbs felt a bit sluggish, and she shook it off.

~Kyla! down- get down !!!~

Carbuncles warning came too late as Kyla realized with her inability to cast buffs, her current ones dissolved as well!
The artist dropped out of the air like a stone and landed non too softly on the hard bridge surface. She did her best to roll into the fall, using her book to receive the brunt. It didn’t help much. She was going to geta nasty bruise, but for ocne luck seemed to smile on her, she didn't think broke anything.

Hissing through her teeth she pushed herself up onto her feet as the voice continued to speak, and Kyla couldn’t help but repeat some of the words, like she was trying to understand them-
“-sins and virtues…?”
She flinches as the bridge creaked and groaned under her feet. Kyla was deciding which spell to use if her buffs were useless now as a new being appeared on the battle field. This dragonkin creature was a sight to behold, and the developments didn’t stop there.
The artist couldn’t help but notice the familiarity in the grid like pattern that splintered across the field.
She craned her neck up at the towers as they sprouting from the grid like a bunch of angry brisling thorns.

Music. She heard music again. It felt familiar. Like the kinds she heard before back in the dive. She wasn’t unpleasant, but it was foreboding. She wondered if it belonged to a songstress magic user of some kind resonating from within the castle.

Kyla hobbled over to one side of the bridge looking down as the bodies of solders began to rise and fuse together in a macabre-like horror to form their new enemy. She turned around to Joe as he stated what the mist was obviously doing.

“Do you think it’s only status effects magic? Or everything?” Kyla kept thinking back to what the voice said-

A trial? What trial?
It talked as if it was expecting them, specifically them. Not entirely surprising, but that could only mean so far everything was going according to their enemies plan. Definitely not good.

As they began their assault Kyla tried to think of someway to protect her team without it actually being a classification of buff magic.
“..nothing that alters our nature seems to work.” She bit her lip as Kyle, James and Leon began attacking.

“I think I got something- it’s not much but-…” any insurance was better than none. Testing how the mist affects her constructs she created Flight of Blades, and sent them to protect the front runners going after the demon. The phantasmal blades were imbued with her weaker elemental inspiration to have fire-
She just prayed that would work. She theorized it being more an offensive magic, that simply attached itself to a target before triggering, it could be spared. If not- she’d just have get even more creative.
In the meantime she also launched a birn strike level 2 at the demon. The spell, about 3 times the size of the largest bird of prey known went soaring over their heads making a beeline for Belphegor.

[Joe: Narnia: Bridge]

Dani pulled some initiative, using water to clear of some of the bridge. It was a good move, Joe thought, but he didn't get to dwell on it for too long.

The 'explosive' attack above them all surprised the monk, looking up as he ran. The ******** were they dealing with? And why didn't they do something like that on them? They could've blasted all the Earthlings into the lake with something like that.

Joe was getting more and more torn, more and more confused. The hum made him shake his head a little, the mist cancelled out his buffs that were on his person, people were informing him of things, be it through charms or yells. The voice yelling about a trial, and the dragon appearing.

"Trials...and a ******** incantation...." Joe's teeth gritted as something inside him pushed him over the edge from confused to irritated, then toppled over into anger. "He could have ended this and he's seeing if we're 'worthy'...he's ******** toying with us."

Joe kept running, picking up his speed and pulling ahead of the center people. He raised his staff up, and with a shout of "ARROGANT ********> he threw the staff as it lit on fire, the flaming staff spinning like a whirlwind of flame as he rushed in after it, jaw locked into place.

[Amy : Narnia : Bridge]

Amy fell to a knee as the bridge shook, and put both hands on the icy bridge to avoid being knocked over entirely. The entire atmosphere grew even more ominous, with strange red and blue lines appearing from the castle gate, along the bridge (and under her hands), and on to the lake. Twelve towers grew from the tumultuous waters, much higher than the bridge but not as high as the wall of the castle. What purpose did they serve?

"Good to know," Amy said in response to Joseph. She was glad she had held off on casting Reflega on him; it would have been wasted. She had suspected that the mist was the cause of the dispel of their buffs. A moment later, she felt Jenny's Haste and Dawn's Bubble, but she imagined that couldn't be easy to keep going. They'd probably have to focus on just that.

Most of the group immediately began attacking. Amy had hesitated to do so, waiting on a game plan from Joe. She thought they might coordinate their attacks, or do some distance fighting while the lady in red "spread her legend", or everyone who had their limit breaks ready could unleash them, or people could Drive, or whatever. Everyone just attacking worked, too, she supposed... and most of their attacks were distance attacks anyway. She felt very uneasy about Yuffie, Nanaki, John, Anthony, Leon, and Joe charging ahead. But hey, that was a lot of people, so maybe her fears were unfounded.

Kyla's question, though, needed to be answered. She brought up a good point. Was the mist affecting only status effects magic, or everything? Would their attacks even work? Would all these fire spells that were cast just disappear, too? They'd find out soon enough.

Amy attempted to Scan the lady in red. She seemed crazy familiar. In the books, Jadis was half Giant and half Jinn, and she had a sister at one point. That sister was supposed to be dead, killed by Jadis along with every living being on their world over a thousand years ago. Not much was written about her, but it was suggested she was just as cruel as Jadis. It was maybe a stupid suspicion, but Amy had a feeling this lady in red was the sister.

She had time for more. Healing would most likely be needed very soon, so she saved her mana, and shot as many times as she could at Belphegor, copying Bobbi and aiming for its eye.

"Team," she said, over the charms, despite her dislike for that form of communication, "These towers gotta have some purpose. Don't forget they are there, okay? And maybe let this strange lady in red stay the closest for now." If, of course, that was still possible. People had already charged full speed ahead, and the lady in red had appeared only a few meters in front of the group.

[ ??? ; Noelle : Narnia : Bridge ]

As Amy's Scan analyzed the red witch, her vision might have flickered momentarily while obtaining results, an oddity she might not have encountered before. It was if the Scan had stalled, if only for a second, while trying to take in the information available. When the Scan finally came through, though, she got a full dose of information; the lack of resistance, that she didn't just get fractions or pieces, meant the woman had no hostility toward them.

Name : Melisandre Wyrmsbane
Species : Norn
Height : 8'2"
Weight : 260 lbs.
Element : None
Class : Elementalist

Strength : A
Defense : B
Magic : EX
Resistance : B
Skill : A
Reflexes : A
Speed : B
Constitution : B
Energy : A

The Norn are a resilient race who generally make their homes in the harsh northern mountain climes. They are strong believers in the spirits of the wild, and hold that personal legacies are the most important goals in life.

Elementalists are practitioners of magic skilled at manipulating the primal elements of the world to their will. Though they can only be attuned to one of four core elements at once, they can change their attunement on a whim, making them adaptable allies and unpredictable foes.

[[ And since Kyla has canonized that the dispel also affected Merlin's magic... ]]

Noelle, like Kyla, quickly found herself in a completely different state as Merlin's magic seemed to deteriorate. Unlike Kyla, however, she was not simply tired... she was drunk.

She spread her stance somewhat, trying to maintain balance, as she stared forward at the beast. Everything was happening so fast, and they were all so loud; the spear-wielder brought a hand to her head, trying to sober up. More importantly, she needed to do something. But with so much going on, the only thing she wanted right now was for all of this stupidity to end.

Groaning in frustration, she slid one foot back along the bridge and reached out behind her with her arms, as if trying to grab something from the air. There was a tremor, and suddenly a large chunk of solid stone from the ground beyond the bridge was ripped upward. She pulled her arms back to her, and in that motion, the massive boulder was carved by an invisible force--debris fell into the hole beneath what was now a massive, somewhat shoddy cone.

With a slow turn back to the monstrosity, she stared, forced her sight to focus through the inebriated haze, and thrust both arms forward, launching the makeshift drill bit directly at the creature's face with all the magic she could muster.

[Nicholas <> Narnia? <> Castle Gates?]

The Earthling group had vanished. The Heartless? Gone. Ice Soldiers? Nada. Nicholas looked around, trying to find any sort of life. There was nothing around. A voice rang out behind him. He turned, only to find nothing but snow. Then more voices swirled around him, and the swordsman could only turn this way and that, hoping to catch a glimpse of whoever was speaking to him. After a few spins, the sounds of boots against stone caught his ear, and he finally gazed towards the front gate.

"Why thank you, Louis. Although, I must say, I'm offended that I didn't get an invite to your little shindig. But that doesn't matter. You know that they're here to stop you, and frankly, you're gonna do some stupid s**t that'll kill them and you." Nicholas gripped Garland's sword, and pointed the tip of the blade towards Louis.

"Mateus needs to go. I've already bound Chaos. He no longer influences me. You've got one of two choices. Submit or be slain."

[[Louis : Narnia : Castle Gates?]]

There in Nick's path, clothed in shadowy garments like the flowing robes of death seen only in picture and nightmare, was Louis. A gentle breeze cast his hair aside from his eyes, which shone deep purple from his irises which flickered in and out of vision from beneath his windswept bangs. His skin was a pale, sickly shade of white with light blue veins. His gaze was locked, unshifting on the Avatar of Chaos as he spoke.

His response was not immediate, silence broken only by the soft crunch of snow beneath a shifting foot as he contemplated Nick's words. His mouth opened slightly, then closed. The bags beneath his eyes were pronounced and obvious as the moon caught a small corner of his face beneath his hair. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and opened. His eyes were a normal brown again.

"If only either were an option," he smiled at Nick softly, "You don't understand. This isn't something you can stop, no one can. I can't die, not until my final task is complete. Only then, can I finally rest."

Louis lifted a hand to his chest and gripped the black cloth tightly, "Did you honestly think... I ever planned to come out of this alive? Even if you somehow manged to bind Chaos, he still remains and his influence over you can't be shaken. Mateus is the same for me. The curses of this world cannot be undone, our sins can't be forgiven or forgotten. We can't escape our fate no matter how hard we might try. I made you a promise Nick, we both made a promise to each other."

There was a slow shift in the clothing, as if picked up and floating in a pool of water the veils of shadows danced in a trance to an inaudible song. He reached up with his other hand and gripped one over the other, tilted his head down as though gripping something very precious, "I'm so thankful I didn't lose you too. At least I know you're still yourself. At least the person I can still save, will be you, and not... somebody else."

Images of Atlantis flashed before Nick's eyes, beheaded soldiers and himself standing in a pool of blood juggling the heads of those soldiers while laughing, though no sound reached his ears beyond what might be filled in by his own imagination.

"Ajora's gone, but you're still here. I can still save you before it's too late. I... won't let Chaos or the darkness have you," the shadows whipped about, the dance forming a cyclone with Louis at the center, "Thank you, Nick... and goodbye."

There was a bright flash of purple light and the shadows dispersed, flying out in a sphere of swirling black. When all cleared, Louis stood clad in a demonic armor of his Scion, the visor to his helmet still open, eyes glowing once more and narrowed to a steely glare, "Come, Avatar of Chaos! Let us fulfill the promise made that day!"

Let the Battles Begin!

The armored male lunged forward, his naginata appearing from a cloud of crystal gathering from thin air in his hands as he swung down diagonally.

[Dani :: Narnia :: Bridge]
Once again Dani was hanging back trying to assess the situation. She noticed the light being fired into the sky and when the bridge shook. She did stumble a bit and had to even out her footing as to not fall over. Her main concern was the various problems that were stacking up against them. ‘Okay so casting a buff right now on my chakrams won’t work it seems.’ Dani thought as she watched her comrades run after the giant dragon that was formed. Another problem she noticed was the singing that she could hear. ‘Guys we need to stop the singing as well!’ Dani said over the charms. ‘Something is singing inside of the castle and if we don’t stop it we might be in some more trouble then we are already in.’ ‘I need a plan, and fast,’ Dani thought only to herself.

It then hit her with a ton of bricks thanks to Amy. ‘No one is going after the pillars!’ Dani mentally slapped herself as she started to walk to the middle from her perspective all the pillars were. ‘If I had help then maybe the pillars would go down quickly… but at this point let’s see how much I can do.’

Dani dissipated her chakrams for a second and put her hands together as some of her water magic began to flow into her hands. She quickly formed the water into a giant ball before launching it into the sky. ‘Time to see if this works!’ Dani thought as she poured all of her concentration and magic into that ball in the sky, compressing it beyond the normal amount she would. When she finally saw how much she had compressed it she looked to the others and smiled.

“This is all I got so make use of it!” Dani shouted as she released the ball and all of its pressure. What came after was an explosion in the air that hit 2 pillars. All that she could hope for now was that she did enough damage to destroy the pillars or that her friends could take out the rest of them.

[[Belphagor : Narnia : Castle Bridge]]

[[BGM: Arrival of the Guards - Battlefield from Drakengard 3]]

Belphagor watched them approach, a deep growl gurgling up from the depths of the demonic ice dragon's core. An eiery black-blue light sprouted from the tips of its jaws as he reeled its head up. The variety of fire spells, projectiles, and other attacks hit the monster at once, producing a violent surge of steam from the monster made primarily of black ice. The slowing tick of a glyph from Kyle meant to slow was followed immediately after with a resounding and deep crash.

The phantasmal singer joined in chaotic harmony with Jenny, continued to narrate battle in hymnal, unhindered by the raging efforts of the light bearers.

The steam was severed and dispersed as a beam of the same black and blue light cut a line across the sky, down, across the lake's surface below, then swept over the bridge and the advancing, close range fighters. An attack similar to being hit with a high pressure jet of water, but rather instead liquid nitrogen, leaving the unlucky few hit by the liquid beam not only harmed by the force of the blast but chilled to near hypothermic temperatures.

As the state of their enemy became more clear, it was obvious their attacks had done something... but it wasn't lasting. Fire that had burned away frozen scales, had just as quickly sputtered out and been overlaid with brand new layers of ice. It was regenerating too fast for their attacks to pierce anything and deal lasting damage! Bullets and arrows simply punctured shallow holes into the crystalline eye, only to be quickly refilled, even as they might pile on more into the same spot, they would only suffer the same response.

Scans, at last returned, only with more concerning results, information was scrambled, blurry, and uncertain. Health levels kept dropping slightly, then increasing. Even stats that might otherwise be readable were shifting erratically between high and low numbers, even its name, Belphagor, could only be read beneath a mesh of other letters and words that were incomprehensible unless one could press pause on their own senses to try to piece together an anagram. The only constant however, was a pair of words in motion through their senses, like a ripple in water crashing on one shore before returning to the other, Kuroi Uta.

At this time, Dani's detonated spell crashed against 2 of the towers, engulfing them in the highly pressurized liquid, swiftly spreading cracks across their surface and causing them to crumble after a few mere seconds. In that instant, the phantasmal voice faltered and its overwhelming volume sank ever-so-slightly.

[ Kyle ; Sora ; Riku ; ??? ; Earthlings : Narnia : Bridge ]
[ Still Cuing : Saber's Edge ]

That their attacks seemed to do nothing was only the first concern.

They watched as the monster reeled its head upward, and though their attacks created steam that concealed its features, the unleashed beam of tainted frost magic was hard to miss as it erupted, first at the sky, and then curving down and across the bridge. That was the second--and honestly, more immediate--concern.

The two assaulters had very little time to react, as Haste did little for their instincts. Anthony was able to pull up a Polarity Wall, which lessened the effect, though not by much at all considering his low magic; John activated his Thick Skin and was left bracing himself.

Those in the back had more time (if only a split-second's worth). Some of the defenders rushed to the fore: Matthew and Riku side-stepped in front of Prote and Dawn, respectively, each casting Dark Shield to block the attack; Sayrike similarly jumped in front of Jenny, using Mirror's Reflection (though, being a grazing beam attack, the 'reflection' was immediately negated), and Sora--realizing the sorceress in front of them had no protection--leapt forward and activated Reflera, the dome encompassing the two of them as the beam passed them over.

Kyle was ready to simply leap over the beam--it wouldn't have been much of a chore--but he noticed Noelle's sluggishness to his side. It was a split second decision, but--

"Watch out!"

--he slid forward and moved a hand in front of him, holding his palm open as a large Stop Glyph appeared in front of him--large enough to act as a full-body shield for the two of them, though some measure of the frost effect still came through, chilling Kyle to the bone.

"F-f-f-fark th-that's-s c-c-cold," he stuttered, turning back as the over-powering vocals seemed to falter and lower in volume. Amy and Dani's previous messages suddenly clicked in his head, even now as he watched Sora's Reflect erupt in multiple blasts of Light, each heading toward the nearest spires.

"D-Dani and Amy are r-right, some of-f us ne-eed to focus th-the pillars!" Kyle shouted, mentally cursing the effect the cold was having on him.

The dome fallen, Sora turned to the sorceress, looking up a lot more than he was used to and trying to give her a reassuring smile--before he noticed the fiery red of her eyes. "You alright?"

"Perfect," she said, and as her eyes flared brighter, she brought her staff-arm up to her other hand, grasped the staff with both hands, and then slammed the bottom into the ground.

A small burst of heated energy seemed to escape from her, but that was not the spell. There was a rumbling above, and there, low in the sky but directly above the monster, was a growing cloud formation that looked more like smoke than nimbus; from this opaque space, great molten fireballs, each the size of a large boulder, began to rain down upon the beast and the area around it, slowly but with constant, immense impact. This meteor storm would last at least a short while.

At the sight of the meteor shower, Dawn and Jenny shared their thoughts, and sent the request to Joe--and with his confirmation, included her in the Haste and Bubble casting.

"Oh-ho! By Raven, that's useful," she said, immediately feeling the magic wash over her. Then, once again, she was confidently smirking. "So, the spires, then?"

Riku, meanwhile, was running ahead, not directly at the monster, but toward the others who were frozen over, both to check on them and to get closer to the towers on the far end. In fact, even as he approached the middle, he launched a Fira and threw his Keyblade toward the farthest spire on his right side, hoping to at least start the process from both ends.

Matthew and Sayrike both shared their Scan results, first with each other, then with the group--nothing useful except those particular words. "They mean 'Black Song'," Sayrike clarified after Matthew broke the news. "Maybe with the singing gone, we might get something more useful."

John was still recuperating. Anthony, on the other hand, had gotten the message about the towers, and in one deft motion he launched his gauntlets off on their chains, which he held in his hands. They rose directly above, very briefly, before he forcefully spun them, twisting his body until he was able to slam them into the nearest pillar on his left, generating enough raw force to cause an audible rumble down the bridge.

Kyle took the hint, and muttered a word under his breath--forming a fourth Stone Living Hunter. With no more than a thought, they split into two pairs and flew far down the bridge, intending to assault the farthest pillars and, once their stock of ammo was gone, crash directly into them.

Sora stepped away as the woman began casting her magic once more, and he turned his attention back to the issue at hand. But rather than charge blindly ahead, he metaphorically followed Riku and turned around to the others--"Call out if you or someone else needs healing!"

Matthew quickly followed up the beginning assault by summoning two sets of Flight of Blades and sending them at pillars toward the lower end, intending them to automate for their duration so they would attack whatever nearby pillar wasn't yet destroyed. Sayrike, though, kept to herself, saving her magic and her focus on the off chance that another attack would require her defensive abilities.

The sorceress, now hastened and still brimming with fiery energy, swung her staff into the air above her, unleashing a large fireball not unlike those beginning to crash on the monster. This fireball hovered high in the air, remaining stationary.

Then, pulling the staff down and twisting her body around three-hundred and sixty degrees, the immense heat that radiated from her disappeared as purple static energy suddenly, momentarily filled the air. Using the twisting momentum as he came to the end of her rotation, she swung the staff twice more into the air--unleashing two powerful bolts of of lightning, each striking the fireball.

Stopping herself mid-spin, she threw her hand into the air, palm open, as if holding the energies in place, and they began to release a distinct hum. They started to combine, violet and orange crackling with magic, and the bolts of lightning spiraled within the fireball. They grew faster, larger, more frequent, and the fireball shrank, assimilating into the now iridescent bolts of electricity--and with a final shout (that sounded more like a single, proud laugh), she closed her hand into a fist, and the united spells launched forth--destructive, fiery Chain Lightning. They split, one to each side, and struck the closest pillar on their respective side before bouncing on to the next, not once but twice, hitting a total of three pillars each.

[Joe: Narnia: Bridge]

The monk might have been pissy enough to recklessly charge into the fray, but he wasn't pissy enough to not realize when he was about to be in danger. And dragon breath seemed to be something that would definitely leave Joe more than a little toasty(well, less toasty and more flash frozen in this case).

Lacking anything defensive on his own(though the flight of blades he picked up from Kyla was helpful it did nothing for defense for something like this), Joe looked for another option for himself, and realized what Sora was doing with the Sorceress. He rushed to them, making a beeline and sliding into the spell in the nick of time. Sure, he was suddenly really cozy with the keyblader and the amazon, but he was safe from the breath.

"Hey, I'm Joe, how ya doin?" It was directed at the woman with a small nod as he tried to figure out what was happening. Apparently the towers were a thing, the dragon was a thing, the scans were a thing, and sure why not toss helpful stuff at the giant woman helping them out in her own way.

"You're welcome, by the way." He broke off once the dome fell, his words linked towards the buffs the sorceress now received, but he was already leaving before he could elaborate. Someone needed to keep the dragon busy, he felt. So why not him?

The male rushed the last bit of distance towards the dragon, charging again, and jumping up high(no where near as high as some people in the group could, but high enough), fist flaming as he did a spiral uppercut at the dragon. Which then turned into a combo of punches and kicks and staff blows(some flaming, some not), as he fell back to the ground, trying to do as much damage as possible, all while the flight of blades attacked the dragon, the blades spinning and slashing around him. The blades and his blows also possibly fending off attacks that might be coming at him from the dragon, if they could even be fended off.

Joe : Narnia : Bridge

Joe had been making his way to the front with the rest of the melee fighters when he got the news about the towers. He had missed those things earlier. Any thoughts about what he could do to help with them however were quickly cut off by the blast of frost magic he took dead on, stopping him dead in his tracks.

It surprisingly hurt less then it should have, considering it was dragon breath. It still burned, oh hell did it burn, but he felt like he was taking it better then some of the others who were caught in it.

Joe quickly cut his thoughts off. He could worry about the 'whys' of his resistance later. Pillars needed crushing, dragons needed slaying.

'The others are taking care of the pillars' he thought, assessing the field 'Fearless leader could some help though. Maybe this thing has a mana pool of it's own.'

Joe began moving again, mist swirling around him as he ran towards the front line. Flourishing his blade, he jumped, and the mist began to take shape above him, forming a large, wraith-like figure of anti-magical energy.

Like a captain directing an artillery barrage, Joe pointed his sword in front of him, directing the Raspara phantom to charge the beast and scathe it of mana on contact.

[[Belphagor : Narnia : Castle Bridge]]

[[CHOOSE YOUR FATE]]

Belphagor roared as strikes of lightning and fire exploded all around and one by one pillars began to fall. The two closest to his side went up in a blaze, exploding into shrapnel that quickly scattered into harmless dust. After that, with the combined efforts of Anthony and Mathew, the second row of 2 closest to the dragon exploded. Lighting jumped one last time to the 3rd row, striking, damaging, but after traveling that great a distance and passing through the other 4 pillars, had grown weaker thus only cracking the surface of the 3rd row of spires. Of the twelve spires, only 6 still stood, and two threatened to collapse.

The dragon however, was given no time to turn its attention to the destruction of the crystalline towers, but instead, was drawn to focus on the two fighters attacking it. Joseph's punches left gaping holes in its body, but they, like everything before, rapidly healed leaving nothing but fresh ice in their wake. Still, it didn't seem his efforts were wasted, his distraction was fruitful. The dragon lifted its head, neck, and followed both with its torso as it stood on its hind legs, staring both airborne fighters in the face, both Joe and Joseph, then, brought both its claws down, raking the air back to the ground.

Through perhaps sheer luck, or the guidance of a breath of hot air from the wind bag in his head, the space-magic-wielding fencer avoided the blow by a hair and was unharmed. Their fearless leader however, was not as lucky. The claw aimed for him slammed into him spiking him out of the air and into the bridge, clasping Joe in-between cracked and splintered stone, ice, and the palm of a massive dragon. Thanks to he bubble sustained by Dawn, he was alive, awake, but very hurt and completely unable to move beneath the weight... but how long could he hold out beneath the pressure that threatened to shatter the bridge now under his back?

The dragon parted its jaws slightly, and from deep within its maw, it began to charge. The remaining pillars began to vibrate and glow. The voice changed verses and grew extremely solemn and soft, haunting and chilling, heartbreaking and calming, all as the pillars resonated with it like colossal tuning forks, light flowing out like tiny rivers towards the dragon's mouth. The world seemed to slow that split second, if only to one's perception.

[[NEW BGM: Fallen God from Drakengard 3 feat. Emi Evans]]

Their leader was trapped beneath the merciless claws of Belphagor, their enemy, apparently immortal but not invincible, that enemy was charging up a much greater attack than before in its maw, they were surrounded by towers posing an enigmatic clue, along with a voice, indifferent, cruel, and beautiful that continued singing to their demise, albeit, quieter still than before. What would the remaining heroes choose to do? Would they save their leader and friend and potentially fail to stop the oncoming attack? Or focus on the pillars and potentially save themselves from the immediate threat of an impending blast aimed directly down the bridge, but inevitably abandon Joseph to being crushed beneath Belphagor's weight?

Their choice, their fate, was their's to decide.
