Aww (European) football, where you have to play in front of an empty stadium to keep the fans from rioting. Where road flares get thrown on the field to a call and hit a goalie. Where fans will hiss like a furnace just because the other team is owned by Jews. Anything I'm leaving out? I know some more, but it's just not coming to me right now.

And in fact a lot of my characters are fans of one sport or another. Its something I need to definately work in to flesh them out better.

Well if I remember correctly they've also had to build a moat around a field or too due to a plethora of problems. Imagine seeing that.
