Dari's answer didn't sound very confident, and honestly, that bothered Cody. He reached the counter, but hesitated when it came to his turn to order. He looked towards Dari. "I'll have two cinnamon rolls," He decided.
Hayden rolled his eyes. "I guess he's not bad looking."

Dari's brows furrowed deeper. He would still try to be nice, but that was a bit over the line.
"Hey. That's my boyfriend." He tilted his head. "You think you're better?" Okay, maybe that wasn't the nicest thing he had ever said, but he was miffed. Why was this guy insulting Cody?

Cody couldn't help but brighten slightly at Dari's words, he walked towards their table with two large cinnamon rolls. He offered one to Dari and smiled. "Here, love," he said. He looked to Hayden. "I bet Jake would go to dinner with you, you seem his type."

"Apparently," Dari said with a sigh and shook his head as he took his roll. He stood and wrapped an arm around Cody. "Such a shame. And yes, I am gorgeous." Dari grinned, strengthened by his boyfriend's sass, and looked down to Cody.
"You about ready to get out of here?"

Cody was smiling as Dari wrapped his arm around him. "Yeah," he agreed. "Let's go home." Anything was better than being around this creep.

Dari sighed a bit sadly and gave Hayden one last wave as they left. He seemed confident right until they got around the block in the car. The sigh became deeper. So much for friendship.

Cody gave Dari's hand a squeeze. He was definitely more upset than he appeared to be. "Sometimes people are like that," he consoled. Some people, not him. Some people just acted like they were your friend until they got what they wanted.
"Come on, I have something to show you that'll cheer you up."

Dari shook his head. Well, he'd just lost a friend. Fantastic. The gay community here was so small, making enemies wasn't a good idea. He wished he hadn't spoken up at the end like that. Maybe he could have kept Hayden around as a frenemy at least. It did feel good to be desired, regardless of the person.
"Do you want to drive?" he asked, a bit of his usual verbal formality sneaking in. He just wanted to be held. He just wanted everyone to get along. What was so wrong with Cody, anyway? He looked the man over. There was nothing wrong with him on the outside for sure...

"Alright," Cody agreed. Maybe Dari was taking this harder than he'd thought. He leaned over and kissed Dari's cheek. "Love, are you happy with me?" he asked, glancing at his boyfriend. Dari could have anything he wanted. Was an average Joe really want he wanted?

Cody returned the smile, giving Dari's hand a squeeze. "I guess I still can't believe how lucky I am to have you," he said. "Want to head home? Or was there somewhere else?"

"I thought you had something to show me?" Or did that not count any more?

"I do. I just wondered..." Well. It looked like operation cheer up boyfriend was in full swing. He started the car and went around the corner; towards his apartment complex. He'd bought a window box, with some wildflower seeds. It was some kind of wild flower mix, he couldn't promise Dari they'd be the same as the ones in the mountains.
When they arrived he parked the car and went around to let Dari out. "C'mon, I think you'll like it."

Dari opened his mouth to say that he'd rather go home if Cody wasn't up for it any more, but would have meant Cody's home anyway. They could have some privacy there. It seemed they were going that way anyway!
He stepped out of the car and took Cody's hand. Was sex the 'thing'? He wasn't sure. He wasn't really in the mood. Knowing Cody it was something physical. Probably something to do with the mountain. He smiled and kissed Cody's head.

Cody led him into his apartment and then to the coffee table in the living room. He'd set up a window box full of soil. It was ready to be seeded. "I found these at the store," he showed him a wild flower mix-box. "It says mix, but I'm betting it's only two or so varieties. I'm not sure which." He looked to Dari then. "I thought we could watch them grow together."
