The teacher stood then as she spoke, her zanpaktou still in her hands, tucking it neatly into her obi, her hands folding across her chest for a brief moment.

"Make you work? No, I'm going to make you all wish you were dead. Ugu-sensei is my assistant teacher.." she gives a brief glance towards the student who seemed to call her Mama, lips curving into a faint smirk.

"During this class you will all address me as Miyoko-sensei, regardless of what you ask, want, or need. I don't heal, but we'll have a healer on grounds if you get hurt. I'll be teaching classes simultaneously. If you've been given your mark of passing in basic zanpaktou techniques, consider this both a refresher, and your beginning through my own classes."

Glancing out across the students, she reached down, to unsheathe her zanpaktou, straightening the blade from her side.

"Can anyone tell me what this is?" the blade was straight, and the light glinted off the sharpened edge, giving it a dangerous appearance. The blade itself was approximately three shaku long, and seemed to be well balanced in her hand. As her eyes skimmed the students again, she waited for their answer.

Haro went slightly disreguarded from the teacher, but he did not take it in a bad way, for she was a rather odd person indeed. He wasn't an arrogant fool so he didn't say something stupid like "a sword" but he could not resist but try for the right answer. "Well...it's your zanpakutou is it not Miyoko Sensei?" He stated with a quirked brow, unsure if she was asking for THAT answer or what kind of sword it was, he just streightened up from his previous bow and his double-scythe twirled like a ceiling fan in his hand as he looked to the sensei for an answer.

This draws a soft voiced answer from the Keiji, who stands with his arms folded into his uniform. He raises his eyes upward, and with a smile begins to speak in what one would only call a bookish manner, stating what fact he knew.

"That is most likely a Nodachi, or Odachi, due to the length of the blade. While a Tachi individually is similar, at least in design, the length of it, or the O-katana, are insufficient to reach the size requirement of such a sword. Typically, the Odachi is three shaku in length at the blade alone, and requires a great deal more strength to wield than the katana, or tachi. The Odachi fell out of use sometime in the seventeenth century due to the fact that no more field battles were fought around that time, while the tachi became unpopular around the early sixteenth century..sometime in the fifteen hundreds. I would estimate that sword you have to be a slightly smaller than normal Odachi, or, an elongated Tachi, Miyoko-sensei."

All spoken in a concise, respectful tone, without a single movement of any other part of his body. He keeps his head raised, and his demeanor polite, the entire time.

She glanced back toward Haro, nodding briefly.

"You're right. It's my zanpaktou..." and her gaze went next to Keiji, nodding briefly. "And you're also right. It's an Odachi. Very good recognition."

And then, she turned the blade in her hand, aiming it toward the students.

"But, in some aspects, you were both wrong. Yes, its an Odachi, yes, it's my zanpaktou. But it's more than that. This is an extension of myself. It is the other half of my soul. If you cut it, it would be like removing a limb from my body. So close is the connection between myself, and my zanpaktou. That is what I want to teach you all. I want to teach you the truest meaning of what a zanpaktou is. You will all learn to treat your swords, daisho, scythe, or whatever other form they may take, as an extension of yourself."

She grinned that semi-demonic grin for a moment, before that seriousness took over again.

"I have no doubt that many of you have no idea on what the name of your zanpaktou is. This.. this extension of myself.. is Tenkaodoriko." the name was spoken softly, and with reverence, as she shifted it in her grasp, and quickly sheathed it.

"Now, I want you all to place your zanpaktou along the wall, and retrieve a bokken of suitable length, size, and of a style similar to your own zanpaktou. Once you do this, I want you all to line up together, but give enough room between yourselves so that you can move. After that, I want you to introduce yourselves to the class by name, tell us what style of blade it is you use, and then simply stand ready, to await further instructions."

He looked at the teacher with aslight smile, nodding back to her as she spoke. His fingers tensed around his blade with anticipation of the class and he heard the child not to far from him give abig text-book example of what the style of blade she carried was. He felt slightly stupid beside him and he sighed as he turned back to the teacher, intently listening in upon her words and looking to the dust flecks swooping down like little birds from the sky.

He heard the instructions given from the sensei and he bowed slightly as he turned around and he held the blade close to him. "A name huh?" He asked silently as he looked to his demonic looking weapon. "You must have some sort of evil name huh?" He asked half to himself as he smirked and he placed the blade against the wall, a faint steel on floor sound singing into his ears whenthe firsat blade touched before the rest.

He then walked over to where his self-made wooden double-scythe layed and he picked it up with a smile, turning to the sensei and walking back to where the other students were. He waited a little while until everyone was there and he smirked as he stood there. "My name is Haro Takiri and I use a double-scythe zanpakutou." He stated, spinning the weapon slightly in his hand before propping it upon the ground and leaning upon it, looking around and awaiting further commands.

"Thats unfortunate, Miyoko-sensei, I hope I dont leave here to terribly damaged." Rikou said mildly as he walked tword the wall to lay down his zampaktou against the wall.

Rikou easily withdrew his blade from the sheath and placed the long thin blade against the wall carefully and let the basket hilt of his weapon rest sit firmly proped up on the wall. "Ive already grasped part of your lesson Miyoko-sensei, theres only one thing that i ever need by my side should i get in a fight and its laying right there." He said almost revrently, but then his expression turned a bit sour "Even if he is condesending and a sarcastic know it all."

After setting down his zampaktou Rikou began to scan the room for something he could use. He began to examine the various styles and lengths of the wooden blades. The hilt on the Odachi were to long so where the Nodachi, and there was no way he was going to deal with a wakizashi, never could use those right. "I'm just going to settle for a clasic katana, not quite as long or light as mine but it'll do."

With that Rikou casually proped himself up on the bokken and slouched over. "Somebody needs to go second eh'?" He straightened up slighly but retained a casual persona, "My name is Rikou Krelldrome', and I use a blade similar to a Bavarian style rapier with a basket hilt." He announced clearly.

Yojimbo saunters over to the wall and sets his zanpakuto against it. Already having a Bokken he heads over to haro and stands next to him. "My name is Yojimbo and I use a Dai-Katana."

Mai nodded at Miyoko-sensei as she placed both her sai-like zampakuto against the wall. She looked for two bokkens of similiar size and shaped and picked them up. She held them one in each hand.

"I'm Mai Takahashi, and I use uhh-err.." she scratched her head and smiled to herself. She didn't know the type of sword her zampakuto was really. She paused unable to answer.

Karite untied his zanpakuto from his left hip. It was strange considering he was spirtualy connected with her, but then again he was with his body but hey whos counting right. He missed his body, but his sould was so much more free. "So when are we going to get this thing started. I had other plans in the the next century." Karite said almost with a cocky grin upon his tan face.

Rikou raised one eyebrow and looked at Karite, "Well unless the involve sitting around because your to cocky to take orders, your should probably listen to orders. Even I can do that and im one of the laziest shinigami in the academy." He said slowly and carefully. He turned his head and faced straight, "Plus you have all the time in the world, dont you love being dead?"

At this his mouth spread into a toothy grin, "The way i see it we're gonna be here for a long time so new guys like us should try and get on good terms with the people who determine how long that times gonna be." Having said that, mostly for the enjoyment of hearing himself talk, Rikou returned to his slumped posture and waited for further instructions.

Ignoring the two shinigami-in-training, Takara reluctantly walked over to the wall and placed her zanpakutou on it. She walked away, giving it a sidelong glance, before turning her attention to the bokken--the wooden practice swords. Unlike other people, Takara did not like being unique nor standing out, her zanpakutou (in its sealed form, as that was the only form she knew of so far) relfecting this. Her eyes wandered over the various types of bokken before landing on one that was just right: it was longer than a wakizashi, but shorter than a katana. Picking up the wooden weapon, Takara lined up next to the other students. Staring straight ahead, careful not to look into the eyes of the others, Takara introduced herself.

"My name is Mitsuragi Takara, and I use a chiisakatana," her voice was stiff and silent, yet it caried over the classroom clearly.

Megumi had said nothing when the question was asked..he hadn't been sure, to be honest, but it made sense. His own sword was withdrawn from its sheath and he sets it down softly, smiling as he hears the faint whisper of Umeki's voice. He looks around and grabs the closest thing possible..there's nothing quite like his sword, at least that he's seen. He speaks up, and it's amazing how much like a woman he sounds..it would be hard to tell he was male save for the lack of breasts.

"I am Aoibara Megumi, and my blade is a hybrid fencing katana..similar to a sea captain's saber in overall design, but with differences. I will do my best since I missed the last classes.."

He swings the weapon around a few times, and muses. He hadn't been around for the basic class before due to the fact he was involved in some serious problems..the Arrancar, then on top of that, there was his sword taking him on a grand tour of the Isle of Avalon. He almost feels regretful leaving it behind him. He signs. It's a melancholic feeling..

Keiji himself looks at his blade with a curiousness. He has no idea what kind of sword his own will be. Right now it's really a katana, but if he wanted to go with what his heart said, then he'd go with what he was most familiar with. He walks over and sets down the blade delicately, and reaches a delicate looking arm to pick up an odd curved weapon. Nodding, he twirls it about, and he smiles at the memories it brings back..

"I am known as Mousetsu Keiji, and I command skills, though minimal they are, in the Khopesh. I will use this, as it is the closest to my weapon of familiarity. Please, feel free to use me for any demonstrations you have in mind."

Keiji bows, and resumes his place as before, squinting at the weapon. He withdraws his glasses, and examines the length and breadth of the wooden khopesh, guaging its weight..it's slightly off from a bronze one, so he'll have to compensate with his stance.

Lesson One, what is the one thing you don't do to a teacher who seems serious? You don't get cocky.

One moment, she's standing there at the head of the class, and the next moment, she's crouched slightly before Karite, her hand on the hilt of her zanpaktou, the blade just slightly out of the sheath, the butt of the hilt pressed into Karite's stomach, but lightly, and for a moment, there's stillness, before the young student would be tossed back the length of the classroom, to slam into the mats at the back of the classroom.

Glancing upward after, her eyes are serious, and her expression is almost deadpan.

"Do you believe you don't need this class? You have other plans?" the soft click of her zanpaktou resting once more in its sheath, as she straightens upright.

"Upon stepping into this classroom, your other plans mean absolutely nothing, do you understand? Unless you pass this class, you will not be admitted into any of the other classes." and after a moment, her expression turned darker, the side of a shinigami most people wouldn't want to see.

"When I give you instructions, you follow those instructions. Now. Get up, go retrieve a bokken, and then, since you refused to follow my first instructions, I have a new set for you. You will walk up to each student in turn, apologize for interrupting the class, and then proceed to run ten laps around the inside of the classroom, without disturbing anything on the floor, the walls, or anything else. You will run at a normal speed, and will not use anything else to assist you. After that, you will come back to the center, sit, and lay your bokken across your lap, and then say 'Miyoko-sensei, I have followed your instructions, may I rejoin the class." Once this is done.. then, after I acknowledge you, you may rejoin them."

And the shinigami turned, pivoting on her heel, to walk back up to the front of the classroom.

"Does anyone else want to make a smart comment, and join your young companion in the back?"

[No physical damage will be done to Karite, that was just to push him back, no force was placed behind the blows, to ensure he wasn't injured.]

Yojimbo was watching Sensei when she moved so quickly he almost missed it, she struck the cocky student in the stomach. he merely watched, understadning her teaching methods. he looked around the room examining to different types of bokken seeing a sai, several normal katanas and Haro's unique scythe, "Why am i even bothering?" he thought to himself as he pulled out his sake jug and took a swig, offering Haro some.
