Marcus abandoned Evelyn near the knoll and came up the hill the opposite way. "Evening, miss," he said, his voice amused. He took a seat next to Terryn, smiling widely both at having escaped Evelyn and finding Terryn.

Evelynn didn't care. She was still passed out in the coach.
Terryn jumped, not expecting someone else to be there. Had someone followed her? Oh, Marcus would be angry if-"Marcus?" She turned her head to the side, her eyes widening as a smile lit her face. "How...how did you find me?"

Marcus gestured at the coach, and the driver picking his teeth. "No one else ever comes here." He glanced back his coach, and realized he didn't really care if Evelyn woke up now. "How was your meeting with the DuBois boy?"

Terryn groaned, laying down and letting her head fall into Marcus's lap. "It was...almost tolerable to say the very best." She drummed her fingers on her stomach, rolling her eyes. "If nothing else it made me appreciate you and your sense of hygiene."

Marcus raised an eyebrow. "Tolerable? Why? What happened?" The entire DuBois family, in his opinion, ought to have been moved out of the kingdom, for the sanity and sanitation of everyone else.

Terryn closed her eyes and sighed. "That would be because I spent no more than half an hour with him before I escaped. Any longer, I am sure I would have been in agony, but I survived my sentence."

Terryn shivered. "Oh Lord...Marcus you did not...do anything to her did you?" She sat up and looked down at him, wondering exactly why he was toting her around.

Marcus smiled, though he was inwardly horrified. "She's a better wench than you are," he answered conversationally, opening one eye to watch Terryn's reaction.

"Oh you pervert, you lie." Terryn playfully batted at him, narrowing her eyes as though angry though her smile betrayed her.

"And thank God for that," added Marcus, laughing and opening both eyes. He couldn't imagine even willingly sitting in the same room as her, let alone doing anything to her. "She fell asleep," he explained. "And she won't notice that the coach isn't moving, even if she does wake up.

Terryn laughed. "And you wonder why I can not bear to be around Serina for more than ten minutes at any given time. It must be genetic." She gave him a small smile before leaning in to kiss him. "I have missed you."

Marcus smiled. "And I you." He kissed her again. "Could you possibly arrange to meet me here? Frequently?" he asked, realizing that being away from this heavenly creature was going to be very, very difficult.
