ok, well i recently got a box of dark eldar, and a raider to carry them around in, i do have the codex aswell now, so thats not an issue.

however, now im trying to figure out a good, 2000 point list,

one character i do want to use is drazhar, master of blades, or lelith Hesperax, heck maybe both.

so far, ive assembled:
the raider with a dark lance.
kabalite warriors with a dark lance, and a sybarite with an agoniser,

there is rough consensus that warriors on raiders are meat and potatoes of the army - loads of poisoned shots plus some darklight antitank at reasonable price, feel free to spam it the way razorback/chimeras are spammed thru imperial lists
get some ravagers for heavy firepower, and combat hq/elites combo
Drazhar obviously fits incubi and Lelith the elite version of wyches...

Dark Eldar are criminally underrated. i've seen some godly Dark Eldar players. At my local tabletop game store they've got this guy named Blake. Dude is a Dark Eldar player and beats everyone. Nobody has ever beaten him and yet he like gets this sadistic pleasure off beating us.

Im Curious as to if it is possible to make an entire army based around either Eldar Harlequin or Mandrakes. I honestly Just like the look of these models and would make it an intresting looking army if that was the majority on the table

The codex should be able to tell you. Are either troop choices? If not, no dice. You need your mandatory HQ and two troop choices.

Google around too, though, sometimes GW puts out semi-official codices through either the magazine and the website. Even if they don't, you could still theme your army around them, heavily converting your infantry and HQs and painting your vehicles in similar regalia.

Not any more. The lists provided in the White Dwarf are stop-gap army lists until they can write up a proper codex and their website is quite.. useless.

That's not easy to say what makes a good 2000 point list.

I've won a few tournaments with my Dark Eldar and there isn't really a 'good' list with them. They're a pretty balanced finesse army. That being said, I can help with a few lists to make it easier to get the hang of them.

First off, I wouldn't bring Drazhar. He's not worth his points. I'd bring Vect, since he's the virtually about the same and is much better. If want to bring Lelith, you might want to stick to an assault based army if you're going to bring Vect as well.

Two characters I bring with some of my lists are Lady Malys and Duke Sliscus. They are two characters you can bring with a balanced assault/shooting army. Again, it's all personal preference.

As for my troops, I bring two squads of warriors and a squad of wyches. My warriors I don't even bother bringing a Sybarite. They aren't worth the points, in my opinion. I usually put a blaster and a splinter cannon in my warrior squads. With my wyches, I do upgrade one to a Hekatrix and fully upgrade her. I give her a blast pistol and an agoniser. I also give all of my wyches haywire grenades and, since I usually put an HQ in the squad, I give one of my wyches hydra gauntlets.

So far, that gives us two HQ, and three troop squads, summarized:

Lady Malys - 130
Duke Sliscus - 150

x2 Warrior Squads - 180 pts (for 10 models per squad)
+ x2 Blasters - 30 pts
+ x2 Splinter Cannons - 20 pts

Wych Squad - 90 pts (for 9 models per squad)
+ Hydra Gauntlets - 10 pts
+ Hekatrix - 10 pts
+ Blast Pistol for Hekatrix - 15 pts
+ Agoniser for Hekatrix - 20 pts
+ Haywire Grenades - 18 pts

Lastly, you'll want a raider for all of your squads, so lets add those points

x3 Raiders - 180 pts
x2 Splinter Rack Upgrades - 20 pts (You don't need Splinter Racks for your Wyches)
x3 Night Shields Upgrades - 30 pts
x3 Flicker Field Upgrades - 30 pts

So far, your total will be 933 points, still a long way to go!

Now, lets have some fun with some fancier choices. Since Duke Sliscus is in your army, it would be wise to bring at least one squad of Trueborn and put Sliscus with them. He makes all of their poisoned weapons wound on a 3+ instead of 4+. Also, if you put them in a raider with Splinter Racks, it'll make your life a lot easier since you can reroll all missed splinter attacks (It's why I love opened top, all of your guys can fire).

So, lets add those points in.

Trueborn Squad (9 Models) - 108 pts
+ 3 Shardcarbine upgrades - 15 points
+ 4 Blaster Upgrades - 60 points
+ 2 Splinter Cannon Upgrades - 20 points
+ Haywire Grenades - 18 pts

Don't forget the raider with them

Raider - 60 points
+ Splinter Racks - 10 pts
+ Night Shields - 10 pts
+ Flickerfield - 10 pts

So new total = 1244. Still alot more to spend. So, lets take a Voidraven. It's a lot of fire power, it can deep strike, and has awesome weapons for taking out armor and infantry. But, since we have a ton of blasters and dark lances, lets stick to killing troops. With your void raven, pay the points for 4 shatterfield missiles.

Voidraven Bomber - 145 points
+ 4 Shatterfield Missiles - 40 pts
+ Night Shields - 10 pts
+ Flickerfield - 10 pts

New total = 1449

Almost done. Lets throw a squad of Incubi in there. They are great in close combat, however, they are pretty expensive and they have no invulnerable save, still though, if you put them in a raider and get them into assault quick, you should have no problems. Also, make sure you pick up a Klaivex for them. I usually put Lady Malys with them, but you could also put her with the wyches. Both options work.

x7 Incubi - 154 pts
+ Klaivex - 15 pts
+ Demiklaives (For Klaivex) - 20 pts
+ Onslaught (For Klaivex) - 15 pts

Give them a raider as well

Raider - 60 pts
+ Flickerfield and Night Shield (Don't worry about Splinter Racks) - 20 pts

New total = 1733 points

Now, here's where things get a bit strange. We still have quite a few points, enough for another Voidraven, 2 Ravagers, or a Talos Pain Engine. All of them have benifits. I like to take Ravagers myself, due to how much firepower they can hammer out as well as versatility. For horde armies like Orcs or Nids, you can take three Disintegrator Cannons by replacing the Dark Lances on them for free. Thats a lot of shots that can make a pile of green goo out of Orc flesh. Or, say you are playing Imp Guard or Tau. Keep the Dark Lances on them. Three Str 8 shots that drop armor to a 12 no matter what are very nice against those tanks. So, for demonstration purposes, I'll just go with the Ravagers.

x2 Ravagers - 210 pts
+ Flickerfield and Night Shield - 20pts
+ x3 Disintegrator Cannons or Dark Lances - Free

Grand total = 1983 points. Not exactly a full 2000 point list, but I think we can let 15 points slide. If anyone has comments on the list as well as criticisms, by all means make them. I was just giving one of the lists I used.

I hope you like Dark Eldar. I play them better than I ever played my Marines xD

It's a personal preference of mine to try to put my assault-based HQ with a squad of Hexatrix Bloodbrides. At 3 points more than your cost for wyches, they're really worth it for the extra attack. Assuming you're willing to get rid of the Agoniser, you could try trading out the wyches like so:
Hexatrix Bloodbride squad - 104 pts for 8 models
+ Hydra Gauntlets - 10 pts
+ Syren - 10 pts
+Blast Pistol for Syren - 15 pts
+Power Weapon for Syren - 10 pts
+Haywire Grenades - 24 pts

That will make the total cost of this squad 173pts, where your original Wych squad was 163 pts. You could also, if you so desired, trade down the Power Weapon to a Venom Blade to add another Hydra Gauntlet, or a Razorflail (I personally love Razorflails) or a Shardnet and Impailer, bringing the cost of the squad up to 178 pts, which eats up all but 3 of the points you had left behind before.
Either way, this uses up the last of your Elite choices, but since you still have 2 squads of Warriors, you're still good on your number of troop choices. Also, at the cost of one model, this is giving you 17 attacks, up from the 10 attacks you had in your Wych squad. Since you already have a raider to put them into close combat quickly, this change in your army list could prove to be invaluable when dealing with certain foes.
Granted, this is all personal preference and me looking at your army list, but I hope you give it a shot sometime to see if it works well for you. Have fun torturing those poor fools who think they stand a chance against the mighty Dark Eldaar!

The bloodbrides squad you described are a measly 2 points over the cost of base wyches (you paid 24 points for HGs, when they are actually 16 points for 8 ). I like having an extra troop squad, just in case a capture and control mission type pops up. However, I can't argue with the fact Bloodbrides wreck in close combat.

For Commorragh.
