LeonTheEviscerator I didn't start basson until mid-spring of my sophmore years, so before that, I played alt sax when marching. Now I'm in pit, and this year I'm pit capt. do u have any tips on playing bassoon (or anyone else) cuz i just started and im teaching myself and have to become"fluent" lol asap. I play tenor sax and trumpet.

heh. Im an oboist from Commerce, Texas.
played 3 yrs. going on 4.
I made HS Region Band in Region 3.
and this saturday, I'm qualified to try out for state. =]
and we're a 3A school.

Haha, during marching season i'm on guard, how do you go from bassoon to mello?! sounds like hell @_@ Oboe and English Horn IS THE BEST =D

I play tenor sax and trumpet. If you want a good lesson book, I'd say try and find a copy of Julius Weissenborn's "Practical Method for the Bassoon". It's fairly common; most teachers use it. But I'm also open for specific questions.

NaomieKeiko ^w^ love my oboe though my poor clarinet ;_; wish i could play both for concert season >>; biggrin OBOES FOR THE WIN! our band has 4 oboes and like 200 something ppl -.- other than our section leader i'm the only decent oboe WHY WHY WITH ALL THE BAD OBOES THEY GIVE US A BAD REPUTATION!!!!! -.- how hard is to to tune before you play? HONESTLY!?!? I actually remember this joke that my old BD taught me. How do you get two oboes in tune? Kill one of them. Tell the truth I am okay, but, I'm not the best. Shoot, sometimes, I can't even figure out what part of a song we are on. sweatdrop Sorry to say, but even though it's annoying to have oboes play wrong, that's what practicing and rehearsals are for.

I play the oboe for concert band and I love it! I rather dislike marching, and was assigned to play bass drum this year..., but before that I was in pit for marching season

this is my 2nd year playing it. There are 2 oboes at my school. and out of the two of us, i`m better! the other claims that hes been playing for over 5 years. yeah. right. He SUCKS. badly.
