"I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"They could hear the indecipherable noise that was the language of the Septentrione as it passed; shadows fell over the shaded windows as it blocked out the moon and the stars in the blackened sky above. Everyone ducked down and hid in their place and hoped that it wouldn't be able to sense them, to see them or however it was that those monsters knew a person was near, and there was an absolute quiet for about 90 seconds as it faded into the distance just to be sure that it was gone. Then, mercifully, they were able to flip the flashlights back on and go back to the normal routine around the warehouse. Zaou-Gongen returned out front and Shiva in the back once the pulse was out of range. Kakyo tapped his chin as he paced behind the door, thinking...still thinking of a way to overcome...and in the canopy Mo-Po could be heard chewing some kind of a taffy or a jerky as he set up his rifle once more to pick off incoming demons.
Tension was full throughout the warehouse, but it wasn't entirely stuffy, either. There was still a glimmer of optimism in the Boss's eyes, and the rest of them fed off of that energy to keep their wild style fed and hungry. They knew that a moment of choice was coming. They knew that in the end...they were going to be called into action and they could either rise or fall. They were going to rise...to a man, the Boss knew it. And they knew it...

"I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"He watched from the doorway as his two Vultures met the charge of the devils in the alley and he didn't lift a finger; trial by fire was what they called it in the military (and many other places), which was precisely what he imagined these two were used to. On one side of the street Rina was calling forth her unusually skillful rabbit demon to pummel the Obariyon troupe charging towards the front of the warehouse, and on the other side he could see Hisoka fighting in perfect harmony with the three immensely-powerful devils that had been raised together for him. His preternatural skill for battle made the marriage quite successful. Lips curled into a smile as the devils attacking them were beaten back, destroyed into little bits of magnetite, or otherwise put on the run in short order. They were good with their devils...maybe not as good as he was, but there was a reason he was the Boss.
And they were getting stronger.
If Benetnasch attacked and they could call out the Trumpeter to neutralize that wave, he was growing more and more confident that the Vultures as a team could really put up a fight against it. They could put up a fight...maybe, even, win...

Kaori Sakurazaka, the Wild Cherry Blossom of the Human Weapons Unit  And there it was... The huge Septentrione looming above the city, searching for anything that moved so it could vaporize it with its immense power. Kaori remained still hunched behind a destroyed car, hoping it would just keep on its way. Luck wasn't on her side this time, though... a group of demons coming closer from the opposite side. She had to move... and hopefully avoid certain death. So, with a deep breath, and flipping her phone open to summon her demons... she darted in one direction while the others moved in the other. At least they would have a distraction...

Letting the others flee directly into the warehouse he drew it around a corner and slipped into an alley not far down the way, circling back towards the warehouse only when Benetnasch had fully moved away from the area in the direction it must have thought he tried to escape to. His breath was short as he reached the back of the building, but again he saw his confidence grow when a near-death encounter saw him escape using a combination of his own wits and knowledge of the city that the Septentrione couldn't gain even if it spent the next five years in this city...let alone the ten-to-fifteen hours it had been here until now. This city belonged to the people who lived here...
This city belonged to the people of Oshu...to himself, his Vultures, to the people they were protecting...and it was the people of Oshu that were protecting it now, getting the better of the Septentrione if only in denying it the kills that it sought. It could rampage and destroy all it wanted, but it could not break them. Never...this city was too damned strong for that. "I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"It had been another near call when he had gotten back to the back door of his warehouse and found that the Septentrione had circled around and come on the back side of the area for a pass in hopes of catching him giving it the slip. However Benetnasch had come just a few moments too late as the Boss just slipped inside in time, watching through a crack in the door as the Ominous Turnip of Doom barely avoided finding its quarry again and smirked in a tiny, personal triumph as it disappeared down the way and away from the Vultures' Base for the who knew how many times it had been time. They were getting better at this...even as it was increasingly searching them out, they were finding newer ways to give it the slip. They were finding more innovative ways to dupe and avoid it. Soon, he thought, they might even find the way to win over Trumpeter...and then what would that big son of a b***h do?!
"All right guys, train in here for now. Do whatever it is you do," he told the group as he turned back to them and walked towards the front of the warehouse, knowing that going outside was probably too dangerous for them right now, "I'll follow it closely, see if there's a pattern to its movements for now. "I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"The first step in gaining any ground on Benetnasch if he was going to trail it and figure out how it was moving was to eliminate the horde of demons that were following it around, drawn to the immense power that they hoped to somehow get a piece of if it were to die or more unlikely, decide to share. His own strength would probably be pushing it if he were to aggro them, however, and so once again he opened up his mind and his already-ragged body to the increasing power of the possession...feeling energy fill him, his eyes flashing this time a somber blue...and as his feet lifted off the ground the possession saw him move out into the road as Benetnasch turned a corner and left him alone, staring down a horde of demons walking the other direction. Yet the power that filled him drew the attention of the demons, and they looked at him with greedy eyes.
"Good...that's it. Come on, you know you can't resist this power," he hummed like some kind of a backwards Pied Piper, waiting for them to start to follow and close in, "You guys are like fish in a barrel...and I've got a big ******** gun!" His hand extended towards them and he smirked...power flashed out and reduced devils to ash even as the power threatened to tear him to pieces. But not yet...not until his work was done. "I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"There were so many devils in the wake of the Septentrione; one wave had been wiped out with his initial attack, but from all sides he was immediately under siege by Abaddon and Arioch, Scathach and Orobas, Garuda and so many more...he was firing attack after attack of the empowered magic from his hands and he could feel the burn, the expansion of the devil's will and its intense strength pushing the very boundaries of his body...tearing...ripping...his eyes reddened as he struggled to keep it all under control and his veins began to pulsate tight, angry...his pale skin was darkening by the second...but he did not stop, not when stopping meant a collapse...not when a collapse meant he was helpless against their attacks. And being helpless right now...meant he would never go home again.
Never return home...to Kotori...to the Vultures. Never...
"I'm not...done yet, you sons of bitches!" he bit out as a renewed power filled his body and lifted it from the ground, bolts forming in either hand that he launched through a number of demons on either side with a single motion, reducing them to cinder...and as the last of the devils lunged at him he crushed it with the sole of his boot to the face so hard that it burst into magnetite in an instant...defeated, dead...it was like rain in reverse, the blue particles that rose into the sky, "I will...not die. "I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"He had used all of the power inside of him...and as he slumped against the wall of a building just beyond the clearing where the Trumpeter's kiosk rested he saw another swarm of demons closing in. He didn't have the strength to rise and fight them just yet. And there was no way he could rely on a possession...supposed this one would have to be dealt with the old fashioned way, wouldn't it? Raising his hand shakily, he flipped open his phone between deep breaths and pressed a button...from within, Zaou-Gongen and Shiva emerged again beside him, ready to fight on his behalf. They were all healed, restored, and ready to roll. Which was good, since he wasn't going to be ready to fight again for at least a few minutes.
"I'll leave this one to you guys," he told them shortly, resting his head gingerly on his knee as he pulled the leg bent up into his chest and brushed his bangs away from the forehead, "Knock yourselves out." "I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?""-aido! Kakyo Kaido! It's me, Makoto Sako! I need you to get up and follow me, now," a feminine voice suddenly filled the alley in the darkness, her skin pale and shining brilliantly in the moonlight as his eyes opened from whatever darkness had nearly swallowed him and saw her wrapping his arm over the back of her neck and lending him a hand to his feet. He realized too late that he had passed out as Zaou-Gongen and Shiva had finished the last battle and returned into his phone when his consciousness faded. Now, with a few demons closing in, the former JPs Officer had found him in the streets and was helping him regain his bearings and retreat to the clearing where the kiosk was waiting. Conscious again, he didn't need help to get moving...the demons closing in were all the motivation he needed to run.
"Sako? Thanks...would have been in trouble just now if you hadn't shown up," he grunted as the two ran together, ducking into an alley as the devils passed by and missed their retreat, each letting out a breath as they finally considered themselves safe...temporarily, at least, "What are you doing in Oshu City? Aren't you with the Egalitarian Faction in Iwatodai, now?"
"I am. But this is something I wanted to do since I talked to you earlier at the base. I want to try and find a way to summon Trumpeter together with you and the others. That's why I'll study this Terminal for a while in your stead. You keep searching for the answers elsewhere, and call each other if we find anything. Sound good?"
"Yeah...sounds great. I could use a hand...I'm hitting a wall, here, on my own..."

"I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"It was a relief to know that somebody else with more knowledge about these things was out there analyzing and helping him out; his trip back to the warehouse was fairly uneventful, the sheer number of local devils that he had destroyed in the last few minutes making it nigh-improbable that he would run into very many more dangerous enemies. At least for a little while, the area was likely to be fairly clear. Which was good, since he needed the rest of an easy trek back. It was a shame that he had to report the disappointing failure of his mission to follow and track the movements of Benetnasch throughout the city, but there was nothing that he could do about it now.
And knowing that Septentrione, it would be back again soon for him to try and follow a second time. You know the drill by now, right? You two take it down together, train your demons. Hisoka's got plenty of skill with his, but he's fighting too much on his own...demons are too strong for humans at the highest levels, no mater how much we want to fight them. Got to use your devils more on the attacking and defending sides. And you got a new one, but you still need more levels, Rina," he explained as he rolled his shoulder and looked down the road at the next Kishin that had appeared to challenge the death of its brother...which made for a perfect theme for another challenge, "...Though I'm almost afraid to see what you can do with even more powerful devils..." He added the last bit as an afterthought. Seriously, Rina had almost won that first challenge with just her Hare of Inaba...was she supernaturally gifted with demons or something?!
