CHANCE - COURTYARD

The fact that Otto had been dragged off to who knew where, and Chance had been left standing with the rest, trying to figure out what the hell had just happened did not bode well. He was feeling sicker and sicker, his face pale and drawn, sweat beading at his collar, and Chance looked up just in time to see the vines shriveling away.

Well that was something, at the very least. He got to his feet, swaying a little, and started to follow the pack of people that seemed to be moving in the same direction, his eyes narrows in curiosity and mild suspicion.

The girl's eyes fluttered open. She sat up, and stared at Otto, in awe. "You can see me!"

For a moment she put a hand to her mouth, as if she had just said something very, very wrong. And then the stood up, and looked around, and ran to the edge of the beach, where the waves were crashing against the shore.

"Over here!" she yelled, gesturing towards them.

(Daws)

Dawson doubled over as the vines recedes and the virus sped up, sweaty and nauseated and—

He froze when he saw Maebe starting to creep along with the rest towards the beach. s**t. Credence was still going at her too. s**t. But he could barely handle one, let alone try to take on both—and so he tried to follow after as cautiously as he could.

Even with them both zombie odd, he still had to loyally plod after them.

[COURTYARD -> LIGHTHOUSE]

As the vines disappeared, Rep took the opportunity to back off from the chaos that had been the courtyard, and fearful of injuring the wrong one, backing off from Kostya too. There was too much he could ******** up here and too much chance to get murdered himself, he needed some time to recoup and lick his wounds after being on his feet for all this time without a weapon or a shield.

The first place that occurred was the lighthouse, because it was as close as he could get to Harrison without actually being there.

"Jordan."
he said carefully, edging nearer to the other man. "I'm heading away from here." he inclined his head in the direction of the lighthouse. "If you are looking for me, that's where I'll probably be." He didn't expect the portals to still be up, not with a lockdown in progress and the power diverted elsewhere, but it could be climbed, it could be a vantage point and hopefully, none of the frothing infected would think to go there.

"I don't know if you've got other places to be. Vines and s**t." A lot of people were already heading to the beach, he didn't like the openness, forest on one side, ocean on the other, it was a bad place to get caught.

[ Courtyard - Zeke ]

Ever's voice had Zeke slowly opening his eyes, but he only just caught the other man rising up and turning away, with purpose. Moving hurt, even just turning his head, but he caught the tail end of the punch the blonde threw at the person--thing--that had set him ablaze. Gratitude and fear, in equal measures, crashed over him in that moment, but they were soon smothered as the pain in his head roared to life anew.

It didn't over take the burns, it added to them, made them throb all the worst. Another awful sound tore from his throat; pain, frustration, and irritation. The fuel was enough to get him sitting upright, weight supported on his less crispy arm.

"I think so.." He answered Gale, and soon after, she answered them.

... But of course he could see her? Unless she was a monster like the no face kid. Otto blinked, watching her move up and gesture at the ocean.

Oh Hell no.

"I ain't a great swimmer, kid." Otto grumbled, feeling no patience for babysitting, even f the kid was adorable. His head was aching and he had limited self control. He wanted to punch Gale for no reason too...

He walked to where she was anyway, just to see if maybe she was actually pointing at something important. "What is it? That water ain't safe, so don't get any funny ideas about playin' in it."

courtyard - circle time

"Because he's the one... who touched the damn grail.. and led it right to us!" Lucky coughed into his hand; it came away bloody, and he looked angry more than anything else. He was going to kill her the next time they met. No more games. "Look, the human sacrifice is over... maybe the volcano's gone dormant again - and we can all get back to pretending anything any of us does makes... any difference at all! It'll be great! We can just lie, and lie, and lie and tell ourselves we'll do better next time!"

The yelling only seemed to exacerbate the problem. It felt like his head was in a vice, and every word was a hammer coming down directly on his brain. He seethed.

"What the ******** do you want, Shiloh." It wasn't worded as a question so much as a statement. He cradled his aching head in one hand.

GALE - BEACH

He was startled at how...okay she seemed. Not sick, in other words. Gale gave Otto a confused look, eyebrows drawing together.

"We can...see you, yes," he answered, getting to his feet. The simple movement made his head spin unpleasantly, but Gale ignored it and walked along besides Otto, looking warily out at the ocean and then at the little girl again with her head of blonde hair.

"Erm," he said, "What did you want us to...look at?"

[Courtyard]

Jordan looked up as Rep addressed him, his vision blurring briefly and the low roil of anger spiking, reminding him of everything he was angry about, all his grievances and grudges blurring together into an urge to attack, an urge to hurt. It took everything he had to keep himself from acting on that urge, and when he spoke, his voice was low and rough. "Okay. I'm -- there's something wrong with me. I don't know if I can control it. I'll stay here."

He turned half away, still holding his head. "Take ... take care of yourself."

"Okay," one hand held Gale's hand and the other Otto's. They might even have been a perfect family. She dragged them forward a little. "In a minute, a lot of people are going to get hurt, and try to hurt themselves escaping. We need to stop that from happening. I want you to stand here, and imagine there is a giant net surrounding the water."

Maebe fell face first into the ground when Creedence shoved her forward, and she flailed as she twisted around, trying to fight the woman off. There was no one there to fight, however - Creedence was still standing, having just shoved her away. When Maebe realized she was fighting air, she pushed herself back up to her feet, and took the time to clean off her outfit. Creedence received a nasty glare, but even her anger and jealousy weren't enough to stop the aching pull that wanted her to head for the shore.

Begrudgingly, Maebe turned and continued to slump away, ignoring the man that tried to stay around them. At least now she could get away. She could be free.

That would be nice.

Her sluggish footsteps took her to the shore, where there were already too many people waiting to stop her. She tried to steer clear of Otto and Gale, as well as the little girl they spoke to, but the shore was where she felt compelled to be. So she walked a wide circle around them, and her slow steps sloshed her feet in the water's edge.

"I want to know what the ******** happened! I want to know how the hell we stop this, I'm pretty sure we don't have life preservers for the entire island and there's not way we can save everyone!"

More people were passing them, heading towards the beach, to the shore. Shiloh should have been watching them, should have been looking amongst the faces but his vision blurred and the headache grew, and all he could see in front of him was Lucky.

"You disappear, and then you come back, and everything's gone to s**t! You're the unluckiest luck charm I've ever had the pleasure of ******** knowing!"

Shiloh kicked at the ground in anger, throwing his hands up in disgust, in his helplessness.

"Maybe, a barrier? There's got to be some way to stop this but arggh, why are they going to the ocean, Lucky? Why did this all happen in the first place? Why?"

He grabbed Lucky by the collar of his jacket. There wasn't time to waste talking, but as much as he needed answers, there were people he needed to make sure were safe.

"Can you walk? Better yet, get on," he said brusquely, lowering himself down and begrudgingly offering Lucky a piggyback. "All you have to do is hold on... And explain."

"A lot of people?" Was it Deus? Were the hunters still in danger back there? Whatever was making them kill each other was likely still rampant.

So tey were going to play make believe? Otto's brow twitched. He gave Gale a look that said I don't know how to deal with children. But.. this was no ordinary child. Kids didn't live on the island. She was... supernatural.

He rolled his head, shaking away the urge to toss both his blonde haired siblings into the ocean.

"Yeah. Sure. A big ol' net." Otto grumbled, closing his eyes. It helped the headache to keep them closed anyway. Ugh, he wanted to be well again. "Wanna imagine lemonade stands while we're at it? Or a ********' festival of pies.."

Mmmmm pies. Strawberry pies! A net guarded by tables of delicious pies for all.

But.. saving people from being hurt. He could do that. Stop everyone from hurting themselves, and each other.

Maebe.... Chance... all of his friends were still out there, and angry or not, he would do all in his power...

[LIGHTHOUSE]

Rep hesitated at Jordan's tone, the desire to reach out difficult to fight back. He didn't want to leave him here if there was something wrong (and he had a good suspicion what that something might be) He'd make it worse he knew, if it fed on paranoia and anger then he represented both acutely.

"Please ********... please take care of yourself too." Don't get killed, don't get put down. He had to hope whatever had helped with the vines would help with this too, would keep him safe.

He hesitated a few seconds more, wanting nothing more than to hug the other man, but with a fleeting frown at how much worse he could theoretically make s**t just by touching him, turned and headed to the lighthouse instead.

The place seemed at the very least deserted and the portals were down.

He sat by one of the tables next to the desk to sign in for duty, and for a few moments, let himself actually ******** rest for the first time that day and tried very hard not to think.

GALE - BEACH

The contact startled him, but Gale didn't fight it, fingers wrapped loosely around the little girl's. He didn't recognize her at all, but stranger things had happened on Deus than a child randomly appearing on the shores. It didn't make him any less wary, but he felt too sick to do much arguing at the moment.

"What do you mean, a lot of people?" he asked her in alarm, Gale's eyes widening as he stumbled behind her. "You want us to - what - "

But Stormy was still there, and so was Nora, and all of the rest of the people that Gale knew and cared for. He had no idea if it would work or not, had no clue whether this was just a silly game, but the girl was not an ordinary girl, and maybe, just maybe...

Gale closed his eyes, took a small breath, and tried to think of a huge net.
