The base was becoming surrounded by the undead, both from the ship and those newly created, either from the effects of the gas or dead bodies being reanimated. If the base's walls were made of cement, or anything but metal, the earth necromental would easily bash a hole through it to allow the hordes to begin filtering inside and killing soldiers. Around other parts, spells would be used for the same effect, though disintegration spells did not discriminate between what material a wall was made of. All the while, the horde was still filing out of the portals on the streets - hundreds, and soon thousands of them. Vengeance laid down more cover fire with its cannons, blasting at Aekea's anti-air guns; the ship's deck guns pocking the sky with puffs of negative energy explosions while firing at any remaining Raptors. Reyin scratched his stomach and rolled over onto his chest, burying his face in between his bicep and the hard wood of the picnic table. The screams were dying out as the neighborhood was trashed, but it was too late now.
Reyin was awake, and just now starting to come to terms with the situation going on. His formerly action-packed dream of tanks, guns, babes and robot hordes was slowly turning into an action-packed day filled with airships, magic, and zombies.
The only eye exposed to the open world popped open and looked out towards the nearby streets. The Armory didn't have a fence, so it was pretty obvious bad, nasty things were going down. For a second his thoughts shifted to Misec and Alexandra, but he doubted the tough old blacksmith would let anyone harm him or his property. The two were probably safe, which left Reyin only one thing to worry about.
His own safety.
"Aww man."
He sat up, yawned, and ruffled up his hair.
"It was such a nice day, too."

But the defenders at the walls were still fighting back, tooth and nail. The troops responded swiftly, pouring out of the base and opening fire on anyone who they happened to spot. The necromental was the big problem, but for now they had to clear anyone out of the area first.
Light rounds burned through the air at blinding speeds, smashing into and through enemy troops. RPGs were fired at the necromental from the reinforced titanium walls, attempting to break the damn thing apart before it could do anything else.
But the situation was dire, and if they did not find a way to resolve this quickly, they would be overrun.
Fortunately for them, a call was sent out... just not by them. Force Recon was not the only Special Operations unit in Aekea today.

RPG rounds managed to blow out chunks of the necromental, but they weren't stopping it. The explosions did take out any undead around it, but the creature continued pounding away. Vengeance fired a volley of negative energy shots upon the defenders, and then fired another torpedo to blast away a chunk of the wall. Quote: Vengeance Main Cannon: 30%

"Target aquired... awaiting the go-code."
Someone was aiming at the big lug that was trying to break the base open, even as the negative energy shots fired down on it. The defenders managed to take cover, but those that did not were toasted immediately. From a good one thousand, five hundred yards, the sniper with an M-107 prepared to open fire.
He wasn't military, he wasn't with the police either.
The telltale markings on his back said it all... he was a member of R.I.O.T. Four, the Heavy Weapons and Assault team.
This wasn't just any bullet, either. It was an SPR round, but of an entirely different element. The bullet wasn't the only thing that did the piercing- it was the air pressure around the bullet, or rather, coming from the bullet, that made it devastating.
If this thing could take multiple .50 caliber Wind Rounds to the head, it was one bad mother ******** wasn't the only thing, though... several other four-man teams, in black tactical gear and body armor, were closing on the base. They were all armed with high-caliber heavy weapons and ready to tear these guys a new one... all on the signal.
"Advance team in position... ready with the pain."
A man back at Raven Industries' Aekea branch smiled and said, "All right, let's show these boys how to play chess. All elements, you are weapons free."
The sound of a .50 caliber gun would be heard throughout the city as five rounds were placed downrange in less than seven seconds. Reload, ready, fire again. He wasn't going to stop until the necromental was down and out.
Regardless of that situation, the teams on the ground began feeding the zombies with Light Rounds and rocket launchers once the go-code was given, and the hordes would suddenly be beset from four different angles.

((Ok, what's a Stryker, an aircraft? And where is it?))
Xehart and his small group of mages, who previously had been moving through the city, would notice any person incoming, due to Xehart's ability to sense life signals. An armoured vehicle would be easy to spot. It would be the only thing coming towards the group.
As soon as the APC moved into range, the mages would know they were there, and would react quickly. Perhaps not quick enough to stop the missile from striking their shields, but then again, the missile would simply explode upon impact on the shields. The five mages that did not include the four fire mages and Xehart began to reinforce the group’s shielding, while the others concentrated on attack.
The fire mages themselves began to target the APCs and heat them up. They weren’t looking to destroy the APCs, just kill everything inside them. Any ammunition the APC was carrying at this point would likely begin to become a liability as the APCs began to heat up to well over 1000 degrees. Xehart on the other hand would wait to the side lines, watching for any personnel to come out the vehicles, where he would promptly pursue them, attacking them with two large bony spikes which formed on his forearms.
---------------------
Outside the city at this point, the Dead-man army would have reached the gates, destroying any guns in a similar manner to Xehart’s team. As soon as they reached the city walls, siege ladders would be erected, and then climbed. The 100,000 strong army began to pile into the city, and they would take out anything in their path, killing any living human. They would begin to move towards the centre of the Undead assault, leaving a path of waste in their path.

And Reyin would begin to make his way out of the city. First thing was first, though. He needed his things.
He ran into The Armory, dropped into the basement, and started rummaging through his belongings, shoving a few important items as well as a couple of travel necessities into a duffle bag. Once he had accomplished that, it was a quick trip to the shed out back to secure his sword and hunting knife.
The strap holding his sword in place was slung over his right shoulder and underneath his left arm, with the four and a half foot longsword being sheathed shortly afterwards. The hunting knife was simple enough to add, as it just clipped to his belt on his left hip. The dufflebag was thrown over his left shoulder by means of a single strap, and with his belongings in tow, Reyin dashed out of the alleyway and into the terror-filled streets.
And without so much as a passing glance to the wave of undead that waited behind him, Reyin made a break for the city gates.

Two rounds missed. Two got in body shots that took out impressive chunks of its earthen body. One shot took off half its head. The necromental was still pounding away, but a few more shots from those SPR rounds should definitely finish it off. Reyin's mad dash to the city gates had drawn him some unwanted attention - from his neighbors! Because of the toxic gas in the air, those who succumbed to it became cannibal flesh-eating zombies, attacking anything nearby. Several of them saw him running down the street and decided to chase after their next meal, which in turn would attract more zombies. After a short while, he would have a whole horde of cannibal zombies chasing after him. Meanwhile, an abomination smashed through the wall of his home, seeking cover from the stinging bullets. Well then he would keep firing. Five more shots would make their way towards the target in question within the blink of an eye... for each bullet, that was. Reload, recenter, continue sustained fire.
Cheers began erupting from the base as the as-yet unknown force came in and began giving the undead horde seven different kinds of hell. The RPGs were reloaded and came forth anew... but then something interesting happened.
One of the men from R.I.O.T. Four had a different kind of rocket... a Penetrator. What this did was simple- it was essentially a miniature Bunker Buster that made its way into the target before detonating a tandem charge. Perfect for demolishing a wall, a tank... or something like this.
"Take that b*****d out," the Captain shouted.
The man with the rocket launcher grinned as he fired, straight for the big lug's torso.
**
"Marines, hold your position."
The distracting element had done the Force Recon teams a world of good. So far, the force below did not see them coming. From above the mages and their shielding, they stood ready with those same Arc Disruptor rounds in their rifles- rounds which were essentially made for countering mage shielding.
Then again, one already knew that.
"Hold..."
The Stryker APCs ceased fire, and the doors at the back opened, depositing their soldiers.
"Weapons free! GO GO GO!"
As soon as they came out, Force Recon provided security from above. The force below was trapped in an ambush.

The mages were hardly likely to just stand there while they were being fired upon. The moment the advance teams gathered close to the group, Xehart would know. He turned around, looking for the source of the troops while the fire mages handled the APC's, which put up little to no defence.
Xehart was quick to spot the troops who had assembled above their position. He screamed in their native language, and the other mages began to move, instantly stepping into the air. The fire mages would sweep over the troops, incinerating many of them in seconds. However, the troops did manage to get in a few good shots before they could be completely destroyed. As their firing was not specified, the shots eliminated the body and bone mages in the group, causing their bodies to drop to the floor with a thud. Their souls would then float into the nether to be placed into bodies back within the Empire. A fire mage would also be taken out midway through the battle, before it could eliminate the remaining soldiers.
Xehart in the meanwhile ducked into cover, and began to head towards the army that was making a path for itself in the city.
----
The army had met very little resistance in terms of city defense, and was currently slaughtering mass amounts of civilians in the city as they made their way to the Undead forces. Any necromancers within the army began raising the corpses of the fallen to accompany the army as it moved.

"Move, move, move!"
As one mage after another was taken out, their shields failing, the Marines posted up in the buildings above began to make their exit. The APCs below were being heated to a high degree, but during the notable amount of spellcasting they had done on them, the soldiers had exited and were moving into position to fire on the remaining mages with anti-tank rockets.
Half of the platoon did not make it. Those that did however, quickly regrouped and assessed the situation. "Leader fled, sir! Last known location was southeast."
The Force Recon Lieutenant grimaced and said, "We have to take that b*****d down. Stay tight, switch ammunition. I want Light Rounds armed and ready five minutes ago. Move out!"
The second platoon had their hands full attempting to clean out the incoming hordes that were storming the city. Anything that had armor too thick for a rifle to handle was aimed at by Javelin anti-tank missiles.

The necromental was blown to smithereens!... along with everything else in a 100-foot radius, and since it was right next to the wall they were trying to defend... Thousands of undead swarmed the streets, their ranks bolstering as the noxious gas zombified civilians and the dead were reanimated. Where one corpse fell, two or three more took its place. They were converging upon the base from all sides, killing anything in their way. Quote: Vengeance Main Cannon: 50%

They were running low on ammunition now, as would have eventually happened. The grenade machine guns were still churning out close fire support, but they were down to their last few boxes. The heavy machine guns were doing their best to provide any sort of suppressive fire, but they were not going to hold out long.
The soldiers inside bravely defended their positions, and the rest of the division had emerged from the base by now as backup. They were still heavily outnumbered, and had the whole town on their asses, but they would not go down without a fight.
R.I.O.T. was still going, though. Just because they had blown up the biggest threat did not mean it was over. That airship still hung ominously up there... and as the leader looked up, the energy signature from the damn thing was getting stronger.
"Four-One to Control, we need something to take down that shielding, over. This thing's getting ready to fire!"
"Stand by, Four-One, we have the situation well in hand. We've recieved intel from the main branch- the only thing that can stop that shielding is to dispel it, but we don't have any counter-magical teams here. However, we do have one option we haven't tried yet."
He widened his eyes and said, "That one? It hasn't been tested yet."
"This is a good enough time for a test. We're launching in ten seconds, don't bother asking for it. We're out of time, like you said. Keep holding those undead off- we can't give you air support unless that airship goes down. Control out."
The Captain cursed and called over his radio. "Grunts, keep on punching! Control is gonna try something stupid, but if it works we will have a notable tactical advantage. For now, take 'em all down!"
The sniper placed on the roof at a mile away switched out ammunition. Now it was time for some serious fun as Light Rounds were fired from the .50 caliber sniper rifle, and seeing as one shot could take out whole groups, he couldn't help but have a grin on his face. His accurate fire helped the situation greatly, but it wouldn't be enough unless those shields were gone and gone.
**
Force Reconnaisance was still fighting.
One platoon reduced to fifty, the other consisting of just oustide one hundred, but they were still both enough to place the pain on a bunch of walking dead. On the city streets, they were battling it out, multiple fields of fire taking on row after row of the enemy.
Hopefully, they would put a sizable dent in the force before things got entirely out of hand.
**
And at the Raven Industries office, multiple containers that looked like missile pods were launched, the targeting computers aiming them straight for the airship. There were ten of them, six slots for each one. But they did not fire missiles...
No, once they got to the predetermined points, they fired spheres that were a hell of a lot smaller than that ship. The area and distance of that field had been calculated by now from combat data collected over the past few exchanges between the military and the undead, thanks to the Obsidian Wing sattelite.
Now those spheres were surrounding the damned thing...
And once they were in alignment, a series of runes on them glowed, stopping them in mid-air.
A split second later, they all released a shockwave- it was not meant to destroy, but it was meant to cancel out the runes that produced those shields. Consider it a dispel, only via technological means. Mind you, this was still experimental, but there was no better time to experiment than right now.
"Ready the missile batteries... stand by to fire on my go."

The streets were chaos, and Reyin was having a tough time managing the crowds. Thousands of civilians, dead and otherwise, clogged the major streets, leaving Reyin to take the back roads in order to make his way to the gates. He didn't know what awaited him there, but it surely wasn't as bad as what was threatening to take the city.
It was perhaps by fate that the blonde turned around to readjust his duffle bag, and couldn't help but notice that he had his own personal entourage of the undead.
"Aww man."
Reyin double-timed it down an alleyway, making sure to unsheathe his sword as he did so. Reyin was a pretty quick, athletic kid. Suffice to say, he could outrun most Aekeans when they were alive.
Now hopefully he didn't get caught in between a group of fire teams as he made his mad dash through the city.
Because being pumped full of lead wasn't an ending he was hoping for.
