Cody ran into the common room, excited to share some news he had just received. "Guys, guys!" he shouted, but it simply echoed through the rafters of the building. "Oh..." he sighed, disappointed.

Cody flipped open his TADS after feeling the vibration. Some training... he thought. It had been a while since any of his pokemon had actually been out for a battle. With that, he ran down the dormitory corridor, past the heavy metal door, and out to the beach, where he met Allen. "What's up, buddy? Good to see you."

Cody grinned widely, excited to get some battling in. "Oh, you mean we're not gonna battle each other?" he joked, starting for the training area. "Yeah, dude. I'm so ready!"

"Eh, not tonight. My pokemon aren't ready yet, unfortunately," he said, looking at the pokeball he held in his hand. "They haven't battled in a while, and I'd like to have a warm-up before I get into that," he laughed. He looked around as they reached the cliffs, and released Sparks from her ball. With a "Pikaaaaa", she appeared in front of him and stretched, ready to battle.

Cody nodded in approval. "Yeah! We'll get a ref, make it official, and I'll win!" he replied, half-sarcastically. "Off to the pokemon!" he shouted, slipping his shoes off, sticking his electronics into his shoes, and running into the water like a little kid. Being from Fortree, Cody didn't have a whole lot of experience with water, but it still excited him. Just past the sand bar, he saw water pokemon jumping into the night, causing a splash as they arced back into the ocean.

Cody picked a seashell up off the beach and threw it into the middle of the jumping pokemon, hoping to disturb a few. The shell hit the water just as a Staryu started to surface and hit the pokemon. "Oh, crap," he said under his breath, calling on Sparks to help him out as the Staryu rushed toward them. The Pikachu ran from the beach and into the water, jumped onto Cody's shoulder, and leaped toward the Water-Type, ready to fight. As she leaped, the Staryu's ruby red jewel turned a bright blue, and she froze in mid-air. In a flash, Sparks flew through the sky, and landed in the ocean. Staryu quickly turned around and sped back toward where the Pikachu had made the splash and dove underwater. Suddenly, a light appeared where the two pokemon seemed to have collided, and Staryu flew out of the water, followed quickly by Sparks, whose tail was still aglow from what must've been an Iron Tail attack. The Pikachu used her momentum to blast ahead of the Water-Type and hit it from above with another Iron Tail, sending it blasting back into the water, and shortly resurfaced, struggling to get off another attack. Cody found this to be the perfect opportunity and threw a pokeball at the weakened Staryu. It was quickly absorbed in a red light and sucked into the ball, which landed on the surface of the water and shook a couple times before approving the capture of the pokemon with a soft "Ding".

Just as Cody retrieved the ball, a Wingull swooped down and picked it from his hand, taking off into the night toward Lilycove City. The trainer ran back onto the beach, grabbing Allen's attention, and taking off after the fleeing Pokemon, Sparks inaccurately shooting Electric attacks at the thief. "Stop that Wingull!" Cody shouted, sending out Axew and Poochyena to chase after the pokemon as well.

Cody continued to run after the Wingull, looking back to see Allen behind him. "Dude, your Shuppet would be perfect to knock that Wingull down! Pikachu just can't seem to hit it while it's moving that quickly," he shouted at the boy as they ran.

As the Wingull stuttered in the sky due to the attack from Shuppet, Sparks shot off a final Thundershock, hitting the bird pokemon in the tail feathers and knocking the ball from its grasp. Cody scooped Axew up as they ran, and threw him hard toward the falling ball. The baby dragon cheered as he caught the ball with both claws, hugging it close to his body as he somersaulted through the air. "Good job, Axew!" the trainer called, calling on Pikachu to catch the falling pokemon. With a Quick Attack, Sparks launched into the air, catching Axew on her back, and landed, skidding a few feet before gently letting the dragon off. Looking back to Allen, Cody shouted, "Got it!" and threw the ball into the air.
