Cai'd barely had time to get a few mouthfuls in before the onslaught of pidgey's attacked the ship. He'd not been paying much attention to the food, and even Lex for that matter, his focus having been on the marvel of the ship it'self.
Now though, following the younger man's example, Cai shoved a couple pieces of fruit into one of his pouches and took off after the young trainer. This is exactly what he'd said though, in a freak situation, he didn't need a pokemon when surrounded by so many trainers.
It was irritating having to rely on others, especially as the pidgey's didn't seem to care who was a pokemon and who was a human so long as their claws struck home.

With a bit of fumbling as he ran, Cai was able to dislodge one of the pouches from his belt and used that to help fend off the crazed bird pokemon.
Swearing with vigor, Cai swung, feeling the weighted bag connect with a solid smack.

A moment's breath between the last pidgey leaving and another taking it's place. Cai could hear Lex shouting commands to Hollin and fought to keep the pale haired boy in his sights.

It was difficult though when the damn things were everywhere! Cai's hair was being pulled from multiple angles, the tie holding the braid tight was ripped right out along with a sizable amount of bright red strands.

Cai sincerely hoped that the others were proving to be just as popular of a target as him. He'd hate to have his previous words thrown back into his face by being the only one picked on because of his lack of pokemon.
It was almost out of stubborness now that Cai continued to fight on his own rather than seek shelter. Still, he moved with the crowd towards the rear of the ship.

His hair wasn't the only target though, claws found the bare skin of his face, tore strips of his jacket, and beaks tried to separate the buckles and buttons from his entire outfit. It was as if the creatures wanted to strip him of everything rather than just chase them off. It didn't make sense to him!

He was getting closer. That he could see. Already the balloon's baskets were filling with people and Cai caught a glimpse of the curly hair of his companion between feathered wings. Hollin was doing an admirable job in his attempts to protect his trainer.

Cai recognized the high pitched whistling of the cottonee's attacks amid the chaos of noise around him. It was unfortunate that it only affected one target at a time. If any of the trainers, or the ship's crew for that matter, had thought to coordinate their attacks, they might not have suffered this for as long as they already had.
Cai was so close to the baskets, but the pidgey's managed to knock him to the deck.

He swung at the one on top of him, desperately avoiding the wickedly sharp beak even as it's talon's tore the stomach of his jacket.
The thick leather just barely protected Cai's stomach as he managed to roll the pokemon off.
