In no hurry to get attacked by more animated inanimate objects, Loffie ventured back to the station. He didn't enjoy being cooped up in one place but the rain outside hurt his skin as it fell on it, and he wasn't eager to spend more time in the painful drench than he had to.
Grumpily he kicked at some of the trash, the debris shifting and crumbling under foot. To his surprise, a small glowing orb appeared from the settling dust, floating about in a slight daze. He stared at it a moment, wondering what exactly it was. It certainly didn't look dangerous, and it's soft glow was a pleasant change from the blinking neon.
Loffie reached for it, and closed his fingers around it, surprised at the familiar coolness. It was like the Goddess and the instant he touched it, the cold seeped into his mind, along with a phrase that made no sense. “We didn’t! And we won’t! It’s a bad idea!" What was a bad idea? But he shook his head, not understanding, and not particularly caring. He didn't have any ideas, let alone good or bad. He had only his core, and the Goddess' blessings, and now the orb in his hand.
