"Ooooh!"

She blinked as she watched and then made a 'That's not so hard' face! Lifting her hand into the air she mimicked D's actions and let her hand soar and glide like a graceful bird, supplying her own sound effects as well, before her hand came in to land on the branch she was sitting on.

"Teira fwy!"

She beamed proudly at him.

Walter, was rather confused. And yet at the same time relieved, at least that proved the girl was not utterly insane. As a butler, Walter took it upon himself never to judge anyone, at any time but insane people were very hard to reason with.

Oh no, thats quite alright ma'am.

Walter said, with a calm voice. And the young girl would see that he was entirely right, for in the time it took her to bow her head down, and lift it back up, the trees plants, and the like had entirely repaired. It was a wonderful side effect to having life leaf in the soil.

And as she was apologetic, she likely wouldnt case anymore destructive spells on herself or the area. Of course that still left the question of how she had managed a flight 6000ft above the ground with an umbrella. But in this house, Walter simply did not ask those sort of questions. He did however adjust the monocle on his left eye, and ask a question of sorts. A definite tone of formality and gentle calmness always present on his soft aged voice.

Is there something I can assist you with? Do you perchance have business with the Master?

The fact remained, she had landed on someones front lawn. And while Walter would never turn away a guest, he'd like to know first that she was a guest, or visitor or...well...what she was doing.

----

Weawy?!

He said, with startled eyes. She could fly! She could really fly?! Because, because he had never flown with anyone other than himself, and once with Mr. Ruuvan! And he loved flying it was so much fun!

Lemme see!

He said with the brightest possible smile from ear to ear. She didnt have wings, or anything to fly on, like him. But from what he had seen in the cities below people seem to fly entirely without that. He was just curious to see.

She scrunched up her face in confusion. She didn't understand, hadn't she just flown? She'd done it exactly like he'd showed her... a little exasperated she repeated the flying hand motion and looked at D expectantly.

"FWY!"
PostPosted: Sun Jun 10, 2007 3:03 pm

Nuh uh!

He said, laughing a bit to himself.

Dats what fwying is wike! Dats not reawl fwying...

He placed his feet between two branches and propped himself up, and then reached his right arm straight up, like he was trying to reach a branch that was farther above the tree. Of course they were on the top of the tree so there were no more branches, but his hand wrapped around something. And slowly, something came into view, pieces of black flew inwards from around the tree swirling and sealing into a predetermined shape.

First was its odd shape, it was 5ft long and 5inchs wide and came to a point on the top, and hand a thin handle coming out the bottom. It was a sword! Though before its black blade was completely a spiral of white swirled around it covering the entire blade in white cloth, hiding its true nature.

The sword was huge something a boy D's size never should have been able to wield. And in truth, he couldnt wield it, but hat was a story for another day, today, this wasnt a sword at all. He dropped brought it down until it was parellel with the ground, and then let it go. The blade simply hung in mid air hovering, and bobbing ever so sightly. The small boy placed both hands on the blade and pulled himself up, bringing his right leg over, and then his right, and then he stood. Black sparks visibly bounced from his boots to the sword, magically holding his feet in place so that inertia wouldnt blow him off.

And D was flying! He was standing on a sword that was floating in mid air

Dis is fwying!

He said, reaching his hand out to Teira, to help her up.

C'mon, I'wll show ya!

Whether it was because her childlike invincibility protected her from fears such as falling, or if it was the reassuring comfort of a distant memory, of the sensation of being bound by nothing, not even gravity and soaring above everything, truly free...

She grinned and reached a hand up, carefully but excitedly hoping up into the cloth covered object behind D. Her bare feet instinctively found a balanced stance, her feet gripping the material skillfully much the same way a tightrope walker stays upon their wire.

Grinning at D, she looked around, she could see for miles up here... quite literally...

Kai stared in shock at the regeneration of the plants. She shook her head quickly to clear her thoughts before speaking. "Oh, no, really, i just noticed this in the sky as I was flying around. I decide to look around a bit, but I forgot to cancel the Snow Nightmare spell. I'm Kai. What is this place, anyway?" Kai asked, looking around.

Oh but they werent flying yet, this was hovering. He helped Teira up as best he could being only a small child, he wouldnt be single handedly hoisting her up on top of his board, but he wouldnt have too. Not only was Teira granted her elven balance, but she would find that unless she wanted to pull her feet free they wouldnt remove themselves from the 5inch wide surface.

And that was important, because did had a wry grin on his face. And a grin like that meant trouble, and only trouble.

For the moment, until Teira found her balance the sword stood entirely still in the air as if she was stepping on the solid ground. But that was about to change...and fast. D leaned forward, and the board obeyed tilting itself on a 45 degree axis, and then without any warning at all, it soared downwards following the tilt as if it was a stiff piece of rollercoaster track.

In an instant the two soared down the length of the tree and the immediately upwards as if riding on a ramp. D arched back, bringing his feet up and around launching the board into a full flip about fifteen feet above the ground. And as they exited the flip, he brought his feet around, and down in a downward arch....right off the edge of the island.

With the wind soaring in his face and blowing his hair wildly as the wind rushed by, the boy laughed on into the open air, as he and Teira were set on a downward spiral toward the ocean below. Though they had six thousand feet between them and a very watery ride, and four hundred feet of island beneath them.

Dis is weawy fwying!

He exclaimed just over the sound of the rushing air, as the sword cut a streak of black through the air behind them.

---

Ahh...

Walter said leaning his head back for a moment before nodding gingerly, the small calm smile ever present on his lips. One would think this sort of thing happened very often, though the defense system kept out most usual methods of flight, it seemed to be missing a clause on parasol travel. But none the less, no matter what method she took to enter it was his job to greet them and see to them in all manners without disobeying any of the Masters orders.

This...

He said fanning his right arm out so as to present the vast garden and the windmill spinning far in the distance.

...is Shadow Island...

He brought his arm back to his side gently clasping his hands together in front of him.

...the floating home of Master Maximos. My name is Walter Worthington the third, may I ask yours?

"Kai. That's it. Its not my real name, of course, but I don't want anyone knowing the real one. I'm a witch that specializes in Ice and Lightning spells." Kai said, leaning her parasol on her shoulder.

Of course.

Walter said, calmly. Her name and her decision to, or not to reveal it was entirely hers and he would by all means respect that. As for being a witch, her religious preferences were entirely hers and Walter would by no means cast judgment on her.

Its a pleasure to meet you Ms. Kai.

Walter of course made a very formal bow. That was simple manners and if anything was important to Walter it was his manners. But there was one aching question. Ms. Kai, the wonderful young lady that she was, was in fact on someones lawn. And so he had to push the question again, the Master would want him to.

Is there something I can help you with?

The sudden drop of altitude and the resulting gust of air, it was a good thing she was flexible! Teira found herself, bent over backwards and staring upside down at the world as it whizzed by her. Squeaking in surprise initially, she righted herself and bent forward to make her form more aerodynamic, not that -she- knew that's why she was doing it.

She held her arms out to the side to held keep steady as the wind threatened to push her over again. She had a small moment to wonder in amazement at her feet sticking so wonderfully and then she was distracted by a loopy-flip sorta thing that made her scrunch her eyes closed tight, laughing.

"UWEEEEEEEEEE!~"

She cheered as they zipped about. There was no fear in her face and admittedly her body was relaxed in spite of it's poised balance. She LOVED flying, the feel of the air wrapping about her body as they moved through it... the distantly familliar thrill of it---

She almost 'missed' it, though this was Teira's first time flying.

Flying was one of the biggest thrills in D's life, granted the physical acuity necessary to perform a sport like this would probably be impossible by someone his age, but D wasnt exactly your usual child. And what he himself didnt have, the sword helped with. Theres was a partnership of a more clandestine nature.

D quickly leaned back bending at the waist and leaning his right foot down adjusting the sword into a downward spiral. Just below the surface of the island was a rather large cone of land extending down an extra four hundred feet, with their proximity Teira would be able to see the incredibly large runic array painted into the cone of the island, allowing it its flight and its security. Now the runic arrangement likely wouldnt mean much to her, but it did glow a fancy violet, and it seemed to sparkle when anyone got near it.

And near it, is exactly where they were, so near it infact, that D was able to reach his hand out and run it against the runes. The runes were surprisingly smooth like dipping into bright glowing paint, and it left a streak of violet streaming from D's hand to mix with the path of black the sword was carving in the air. Meanwhile, he cut a downward spiral around the cone of the isle, the sword adjusting the make sure the angle was just sharp enough to give its riders a rush, without being so harsh that it would hurt D or Teira.

Until, finally the two reached the bottom of the cone, at which point D immediately crouched low pushing on the back of the sword. The blade quickly cutting a straight vertical cut directly up, and up, and up, until they finally broke over the edge of the islands surface where D immediately cut to side shaving a huge chunk off of one of the bushes as the sword came a steady, calm stop. It was like a wild roller coaster! Without any safeties!

Kai thought a moment, and was about to say no until a yawn escaped her lips. She blinked. "Opps, I guess I'd like a place to sleep for tonight, if you would be so kind." She said.

That was an interesting request, but Walter was a reasonable man. By now they were likely several miles off shore, and she was over a mile above sea level. If the poor girl was tired already, she was bound to fall asleep mid flight and well...in these conditions that could be fatal. The Master would understand.

I dont see the harm, after such I long flight I'd summize your probably a bit peckish as well.

Of course, Master Maximos' nature, made the nature of the house itself special. And so he had to question her just a bit farther, to make sure she'd be safe.

Just a few questions before we enter. Do you have any magical allergies or issues I should be aware of. And can you by any chance see without light?
PostPosted: Sun Jun 10, 2007 8:26 pm

Kai thought for a moment. "Yes, i am a little hungry.... and I have no magical allergies that I'm aware of... I can see a bit without light, about 4 feet..." She said, looking at the Walter.

Excellent.

He said, turning sideways and gesturing toward the very large windmill with the rather rickety wooden door at the far end of the island.

Right this way then.

He said, and he began to walk. It was after all his duty to guide her, how else would she know where to go? With the incredible number of enchantments riddled throughout this house to make everyday life just a tad bit easier, even Merlin would get lost in this home. Thankfully, there was a path of flat stones laid across the grass that led directly to the windmill, and it was on that path that Walter led Kai. As they reached the wooden door he peeled it open revealing what can only be described as a wall of black. It seemed any light that was shed toward the doorway was swallowed by this impossible wall. It was beyond simply "dark", there was no light to speak of in the slightest.

As Kai had admitted she could only see four feet, and that would make actual travel through the halls quite difficult Walter reached into the breast pocket of his vest and pulled out a pair of dark glasses. They looked like ordinary reading glasses with the exception of the fact that the lenses were entirely black. When warn, they allow one to see in the dark as easily as they would see outside. Granted dark vision robbed one of the ability to see any real colors except in dull tints, but it was better than stumbling or being forced to exist in four feet of space.

Wear these when we step inside, and you should be just fine.

And with that, he entered the doorway. He would take a few steps before waiting for Kai to follow. When or if she did, she would be presented with a flight of stone spiral stairs which appeared to be hewn directly from the rock.

I trust the glasses serve you well Ms. Kai?
