This made him consider the Blackwings a major threat. "That's...interesting to say the least." Despair had expected Atticus to become stronger than he had ever been. "You should know Atticus better than me. If that is so, then you know that the stronger he becomes the more he relies on his own strength. If his partner can't at least fight on par with him, then he will start to fight on his own instead of as a team with you." Holding out his hand, Despair produced a small orb of yellow energy. Shira would begin to feel an tremendous amount of madness coming from it, it felt like a miniature bomb. "This contains a small portion of my 'unique' madness. I want to give this little portion to you. With it, you will be able to stand beside Atticus and be the perfect foil to his darkness." ═ ════ ══ ═══ ══ ═══ ══ ════ ══ ═══ ══════

It was Sanctum that killed Despair, but he could tell that Sanctum was dead, so his appetite for revenge would not be filled. Cooling down, Despair would smile once more and answer Shira's questions about the orb. "The only side-effect is that you will be unable to wield your madness ever again. This 'unique' power of mine, allows me to effectively purify and completely eliminate any being who holds madness. For you, it will be an passive skill, like me, you will emit this sickening pure aura, which will greatly weaken any demon, witch, or kishin that is in the vicinity. The stronger they are the stronger the effect, but there are those who are not affected, but I won't tell you who they are." Essentially, this power will bring the madness of an opponent, down to more stable levels, evening the playing field. Shira would also be able to miss it together with her own energy and create a wide array of techniques. Something else would click in Despair's mind, "Oh yes, the more you use it, the more Atticus will be purified, until he ultimately loses all of his madness. Not to mention the horrible pain that he will be enduring." Despair knew that Shira would not accept such a dangerous power, but it was fun seeing her consider it. ═ ════ ══ ═══ ══ ═══ ══ ════ ══ ═══ ══════

Of course, Despair was referring to one of the options that Atticus had, which was to give up all his powers and live the rest of his life as a human. "Would not that be the best for the both of you? I mean, I know the pain and suffering that Atticus has been through and I can honestly say that he is considering that option. She would have normally stayed by Atticus' side and followed him, but to actually hear that should he become human, she would remain as she is and cheer for him on the sidelines. Despair was happy to see how much she had matured in his absence, but to actually hear her say that, was another thing. "Would that make you happy? Fighting this endless battle of order and chaos, losing allies left and right, while being separated from the man you love? He no longer saw the girl who fought against her father's rules, against fate, she was now just following in the same path that her father and grandfather did. "I guess I was wrong about you." Despair told her. "I was under the impression that you wanted to be different from Kidd and Lord Death, that you wanted to change the world, make it better, but in your own way." Despair seemed a little saddened by her words. "If you discard your own happiness just for the sake of duty, then you truly are lost. Just another puppet of this world's laws." Something about Despair would remind Shira of Atticus, this could be that he is Atticus' Alternate, "If Atticus heard this, what do you think he would say or do?" ═ ════ ══ ═══ ══ ═══ ══ ════ ══ ═══ ══════

Standing right next to Shira, Despair stared down at her, "Atticus won't choose to be human or a demon. He will undoubtedly choose to spend the last few years of his life, fighting as your weapon. He will discard a chance at living peacefully, without fighting and death, for a life of continuous battle and bloodshed.
