Garrick and Andarien ran after Hana, and Ian ran off after them calling "Wait for me!"

When all of the small children had left the room, Earendil turned to Elnara and asked, "Are they always this energetic?"

Elnara laughed softly. "This is Garrick being tame. I have no idea where he gets his energy from. Hana can be more refined when she wants to be, but she has her moments, too." After a pause, she grinned and added, "Usually when she's chasing after Garrick for something."

There was a sudden knock at the door, but Elnara didn't bother answering it. Before she had a chance to answer anyways, the door opened and Skye stepped in.

"Here," she called out.

She was as tall as she would ever get, and she was barely taller than Lin. Slim and graceful, she seemed quite delicate, though in reality she was quite strong. She was wearing a sky-blue turtleneck sweater and black leggings, and though she had no bag with her, she did have a cell phone strapped to her waist with a thin belt.

"Hello, Skye," Elnara smiled, signing with both hands as she spoke. "We have guests today."

Skye giggled softly. "I know. Serenity told me." She patted the phone at her waist significantly, then turned to Lin and Earendil. "Welcome. I have not seen you in a very long time."

She had been at the dinner the other night, but she hadn't had a chance to speak with Earendil, Lin, Miyuki or Andarien. There had been so many people that most people hadn't had the chance to do so.

Lin lifted her fingers and paused for a moment before replying both vocally and with her hands, "So it has. I'm glad to see you again."

Though she knew Skye in her own way could tell what Lin was saying as long as she was facing the girl, it was good to use some of those language skills she rarely ever needed to use. Reading sign language was easier than doing it.

"Come, sit, the most of the children went off to play," Lin told Skye.

Miyuki looked between her mother and Skye. While she had met Skye very briefly, it was when she had been much younger and back then Miyuki didn't use sign language at all. So it wasn't a skill she knew.

"Good," Skye said as she moved to sit next to Serenity. "Garrick is very distracting sometimes."

When she was comfortable, she smiled at Lin and Earendil. "How was your last trip? Serenity said that you went around all of the Four Lands." She raised one hand as if to say wait. "And you do not have to sign, Mother does it from habit, I think."

"Guilty," Elnara admitted with a smile.

Lin giggled at that, she understood why though. Gion did not speak at all, and so at least knowing how to read sign language was a must.

"Our last trip... went well considering it all. We had out share of, mishaps but when you travel that far and for that long, I guess that's to be expected, but we would have to start from the beginning... oh... there's so much."

Lin smiled and in all honesty in she knew where to start, but it seemed like so much to cover.

"I guess I should start from the beginning..."

"Yes, that is usually a good place to begin," Skye giggled, her eyes sparkling brightly.

Earendil chuckled and leaned back, looking over at Lin. "Well," he said, grinning widely, "it all started with us getting married ..."

So they recounted their time in the Borderlands. This also included the return of Ulrich's sister and her family. They also talked about Andarien being born shortly after leaving the Borderlands.

They also talked about the Human Southland, though there were very little good things to say about it. Really, only meeting the Rovers made their trip, which was kind of sad. Though Lin admitted Emile was an interesting human, but she was sure he was from a higher class family. It wasn't something she ever bothered to mentioned before, especially since Dareon didn't seem to ever quite warm up to the guy. However, it was hard not to notice his English/Common Tongue was nearly perfect or the fact that he knew good horses when he saw them. Horses were expensive creatures to own and most humans spoke Common Tongue with an accent, rarely managing or bothering to do it well.

There was also the swamp where they found Alassea, the blind woman who could fight better than most fighters with sight. That in itself had been interesting, and a great surprise to them. Though it was a rough start, Alassea had quickly become another member of the group. Miyuki did mention as well that Alassea had been teaching her, River and Amalirahc staff work.

There was the trip into the Westland, where they met Iorlas and by extension her sister Ioreth. Though some parts were cut out, for Iorlas' privacy. There was no such issue of talking about how Dareon and Iorlas had become close over the duration of the journey. They were courting, much to the delight of Earendil's mother. Visiting the Westland had certainly gone better than the Human Southland. Even Miyuki had to agree, even if she admitted not everyone was really that nice there.

Not like the Eastland, Miyuki liked the Eastland even though it was hot and dry there. The people were nice, there was plenty to see and explore. It was also a good time to catch Elnara up with how Lorthriel's family was doing. The family was growing large and very quickly.

The last stop was of course the Southland before heading back to the Borderlands. Of course, Lin figured since Daemon went through the portal before them that they knew about Daemon being out the sword. There was also once again a good laugh about excited Earendil's mother had been about her sons finally either getting married or finding someone. They didn't talk much about Ruel, only because Miyuki was there and it was really hard to pin Ruel's moods down at times.

There were many other people to talk about as well. There had been a lot more people who joined in on their journey than when they left. And even after all that it didn't feel like they covered everything, but there simply just wasn't enough time to cover everything....

It took them a while to cover even just those basics, and partway through the narrative, Storm and Starr entered the room. Not wanting to interrupt, they'd taken a seat around the room: Starr on the seat next to Elnara, and Storm on the floor just in front of her.

Earendil found that, as usual, Lin did quite a good job of relating their experiences, and so he had little to add to it.

Elnara was feeling a bit wistful by the time Lin finished. "So many things happen there," she murmured. "It only ever feels like I'm gone too much from there when I hear how much happens. I know it's because of the time, but ..."

She grinned, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "But I have a feeling I'd like to meet this woman who finally caught Daeron's eye. She must be something special."

Lin laughed at that, because she honestly wasn't surprised. Dareon seemed to have the worse luck, though Lin did admit it was a bit of a drama king.

"Well they should still be at the Borderlands and you know, you and Lore and take a weekend into the Borderlands for a while," Lin replied, "I know... I know part of it also is how busy you are with family. I think mom and dad would visit more too if it weren't for that fact."

The twins really took up their time, along with taking care of the school and family.

"Though dad does need to take more breaks..."

"As should Lore," Elnara chuckled softly. "And you know, the fact that we're so busy should be the very reason why we go for a visit. It's not like we'll lose much time here, and it's past due."

"I know Nako would like it if you visited," Earendil offered.

Elnara looked at him curiously. "Where is Mother staying nowadays, anyways?" she asked.

Earendil grimaced. "Everywhere. Though I suppose, the plantation, mostly ... between that and the Borderlands."
PostPosted: Tue Jun 05, 2012 8:13 pm

"Really it was only by chance we ran into her and Beren at the plantation," Lin admitted.

The chances of them finding those two were slim seeing that they did visit everywhere.

"Though I do believe the plantation is their favourite place, or at least the place they go most often."

She remembered being told that once.

"That makes sense," Elnara murmured. "It was their home until ..."

Until things had turned bad.

"At any rate, it was our home while we were a family," she finished. "But there are ways to tell them that we're looking for them, so that's not really anything to worry about, I suppose."

"True," Earendil agreed.

Lin smiled at that as she turned her attention to Storm and Starr. They had come part way through the long story about their journey. So she hadn't had a chance to greet them yet.

"And before I get side tracked again, it's good to see the two of you. I had been meaning to ask what you both been up to but..."

But well, things kept happening, she gained a family to raise and always seemed to be on the go.

Starr smiled at Lin, a smile that was more mature than her stature.

"But you've been off to the four corners of another world," she concluded for Lin. She smiled again. "We've been well. Doing a bit of this and a bit of that."

"Storm and Starr haven't quite found their niche," Elnara explained quietly to Lin.

"Not much call for elemental controllers," Storm said dryly. "Too dangerous for most jobs, I guess ... or maybe it would be more accurate to say, too dangerous for most people to feel comfortable with."
PostPosted: Tue Jun 05, 2012 8:41 pm

"True," Lin murmured thoughtfully, "Not unless you want to study it for the rest of your life, but I don't think that's what you two had in mind."

Otherwise they would have done it, goodness knows they did have a school that could always use more academics. Now that Lin thought about it the greatest magicks used in Gaia were the subtle ones like illusions or runes.

Miyuki though spoke up, "What do you mean by elemental controllers?"

One of the things she had been suggested by Daemon was to ask about other types of magic. Since she didn't have the luxury of going to school, finding out which subjects she might be interested in reading up on would benefit her the most.

"We don't see the world the way that everyone else does," Starr explained to Miyuki. "There are five elements to life - separate from the scientific elements of matter. There's earth, air, fire, water, and magic. With the exception of magic, we see the other four elements as threads of energy."

It was clear that they had already delved as deep as they wished into their education concerning their gifts.

"We can control these threads and in so doing, control the elements," Storm added in a bored manner. "It's a curse, though. We're not allowed to do anything with it, and it makes sense ... we could wreak a lot of havoc with it. We have in the past."

"But it does make it a bit depressing," Starr sighed. "We really haven't found a good use for our gifts. We'd like to use them somehow, and I think that's also hampered our ability to find a career to settle into."

Really, the twins didn't even have any real interests. Nothing seemed to grab their attention. They were really just living their lives offering a hand to those who needed one.
