Sophie tilted her head to the side slightly and blinked at Riordan quizzically. Maybe he wasn't as clued in as she thought. She squinted lightly before a look of understanding crossed her face. "Ah. It seems I was mistaken then." She replied with a small smirk. Sophie would leave it at that for now anyways. "Riordan, I have no doubt that word will soon spread that I am here. Perhaps it would be better to formally announce my presence to your father. I don't wish to start an incident due to hearsay." She stated biting her bottom lip lightly. Her fangs dipped past her lip a bit causing the nervous expression to look a bit odd. She wasn't sure what kind of welcome she should expect from the King.

Riordan nodded to Sophie, "I should escort you. I can introduce your formally." He said giving her a small bow, "And, what of your blindfolded companion? Is he your escort?" He said still not quite understanding Shade. Riordan was also quite content to leave Jeremy and Rose alone. So long as they didn't do anything overtly romantic in the sight of others. As it stood now, it was just his adviser keeping his lady friend entertained, while Riordan attended to affairs of state.

Shade stood up with a sad sigh. He really, REALLY did not want to go where he would no longer be able to see, but straying too far from Sophie would not be the mark of a gentalman, "I would like to stay by her side if at all possible." He knew the man would want a reason as to why, "I agreed to help Miss Sophie, and I will do so until she no longer needs my company."He knew Sophie did not like being called Miss, but it didn't feel right not to in front off royalty.

[Sophie turned slightly toward Shade her eyes scanning him once more. If she went along with this his actions could be taken as a reflection upon her and her country. However, all he had done was help. That and in all honesty she was more likely to upset someone than he was. Sophie gave a small nod and linked on of her arms with Shade's knowing the castle probably would allow him little sight. "He is both a friend and an escort." She stated with a smile and a small squeeze to his arm. "I do hope your father won't be too upset. From what I recall the last time my father sent an envoy to your country things ended...roughly. To put it lightly." She winced slightly hoping that such an welcome was no in store for her. Sophie wasn't sure how much protection the prince could provide if his father didn't like her.

Riordan nodded, "My father will listen to me if nothing else. Just as the people must trust their future king, the current king must trust his successor." He said, with a smile, "And as long as we do not cross my fathers Advisor there shall be no problems. That man however.......he may cause some issues." He said a small growl in his voice, before looking back to the two. "I shall escort you both, please, this way." He said turning into the hallways and making his way towards his fathers chambers.

Kailey glanced over the the fire and saw the small bedding area that Loa had made. It lightly resembled a nest in Kaileys eyes. But the Loa was a bird beastial, so it made sense. "Yeah, as long as we can both fit, it'll be fine. And that actually looks pretty comfy. You've got the makings of a perfect little housewife. It you can do that with leaves and blanket, imagine what you could do with a real bed." Kailey considered making a second comment, but decided to hold it for later.

"Oh good." Loa murmured, staring at the small 'nest', and trying to gauge how well they'd both fit on it. As Kailey's housewife comment sunk in, she turned around, confused. "Housewife? I thought beastials didn't marry." She wondered if it was just a joke, or if she was going to discover even less of what she'd been told as she grew up was true. At the comment of a real bed, Loa thought of the uncomfortably thin bunk she had in the barracks with the other guards. And then she thought of her favorite tree in the garden. "I'm not actually a fan of beds."

Kailey bit her lower lip, looking contemplative for a few moments. "We do....well...we do but we don't...." Kailey shook her head. "First off Loa, where do you think baby beastials some from? You think we just walk out of the forest or something?" She said with a small giggle. "It depends on where you live honestly. In isolated tribes, like mine, its not exactly marriage. It's mating. For life. We mark our mate, they mark us. Usually its a bite mark on the neck. And we are bound together. Forever. We don't have a big ceremony. At least, thats my tribe. Others may do it differently." she smiled, "However, it countries around humans and elves, beastials do usually adapt to the marriage ceremony. And I have hear of beastial weddings. Never seen one myself though. Which would you prefer. Mating or Marriage?" Kailey gave a salacious grin, "And beds are just something soft to lay on int he afterglow. Unless you rest your head on your partner after a vigorous night."

Loa turned to face Kailey as she spoke, listening intently. She always greedily absorbed any information about her heritage. At the comment about baby beastials, she crossed her arms and scowled. "Don't be ridiculous, I know how babies are made, I was just led to believe that most beastials don't have emotions involved and just... just..." She flushed a bit and gestured. "Copulated mindlessly." Loa listened to the rest of the explanation, and then paused. "Probably marriage, if only due to the rest of my heritage." She had heard about the intricate ceremonies even lower class elves went through to be married. She had turned back to the nest to adjust the flames when her last comment sank in, and she flushed, shaking her head and holding her tongue.

Kailey frowned, but then remembered that she was raised in Exortensis. "Well, take it from another beastial. We are just as devoted to our life partners, husband, wife, mate or whatever you wish to call them, as any other group of people. We don't just fornicate with mindless thoughts of 'must make babies, must pass on genes'. We want to be with our chosen ones, for the rest of our lives. Thats why my tribe mates for life. If our mates dies......well, thats it for us then." she said with a sigh, "Same thing if you end up losing feelings for your mate. Your are with them, and only them for the rest of your life." She stared into the fire. "Loa, aside from your prince, have yo ever been in love? Or at least felt attracted to someone, reciprocated or not?"

Loa listened, and then glanced down, her eyes contemplative. "I apologize if I have caused offense. I merely seek to determine what is accurate and what is not." She glanced up at Kaileys sigh. "Do you have a mate? Or are you acquainted with someone who's feelings changed?" She paused when she was asked a question, and though she recoiled from answering, it was only fair, as she had asked much of Kailey. "No. He is all I have known, since I was young." She'd glance down, again, sadly, and sit down on the nest. "I have never had eyes for any outside of my prince."

Kailey almost laughed when Loa asked if she had a mate. "No. on both counts. Well, kind of." She sighed moving over t sit next to Loa, still looking into the fire. "I had a boy who I was going to mate with. I was faithful to him, not even wanting to think about other guys. But, I was always out with my mom, on her trade routes. I came back from one of her trips early and I wanted to surprise him. And I found him in bed with another girl. I was 16. It was then that I started traveling. I had to get away from him." She smirked, "On the plus side, I've gotten to have a lot more fun. And meet a lot of people more attractive then him. And people who are probably more considerate and passionate then he would have been." She gently nudged Loa shoulder, "Oh come on. No like cute guards or young handsome noblemen? You even even thought anyone was cute?"

Listening attentively, Loa rested a sympathetic hand on Kailey's shoulder as she laid out what had happened. "I am sorry. I am sure it is no consolation, but I am relieved that that did not happen to you after you had mated." It was a sad tale, which Loa had heard and observed many variations of, but it still hurt her heart that people would so unkindly handle the hearts given to them. After her comment about cute guards or young noblemen, Loa winced and glanced away. "I... It is very difficult to find anyone attractive when you are less than dirt in their eyes." Loa nervously rubbed her arm. "I have allowed myself to remain in a very unkind environment merely because my prince asked me to. He is not aware, I believe, of how truly cruel the others can be."

Kailey shrugged, "Well, had we been mated, he wouldn't have done that. We would have been bound, and no other woman would touch him. Like I said, mated for life, and that means no straying." She leaned lightly against Loa, "Like I said though, I got to do a lot more things anyway. Else, I probably just would have been a little kitten factory pumping out babies whenever he saw fit." she then smiled, a genuine smile, "Hey, if I had, I wouldn't have been in Incolumitas. We wouldn't have met, and I wouldn't be able to do what I can for the little Princeling." She then pouted, "Are you sure you can't tell me their names? I don't want to sound like an idiot when I address them."

Loa glanced away, frowning. "I suppose. Marriage has never prevented such an occurrence, does that mean that the mating is more significant?" She looked contemplative. At the mention of babies, Loa closed her eyes, trying to picture a bird beastial baby. "I have never seen a beastial baby..." She glanced over, and smiled. "I am glad we met." She shook her head. "We will stop at an inn, and you can hear their names from another."
