"Erm, she had to go, quickly.. to do... something" he said, addressing Fae first. He hoped she wouldn't ask any more, he didn't want to make false excuses which would be shown as lies whenever Sy turned back up.
"Ahhh, Kero-kun" he now replied, using this to get out of any talk about Sy. "Very good! and so quickly, i'm impressed. You are certainly as eager as the professor mentioned". He stopped and looked at Fae's confusions towards the boy. "Oh, Fae, you haven't met Kiro, have you? Fae, Kiro - Kiro, Fae" he motioned from one to the other and back. "Kiro is going to be staying with us to do some research with my team." Alyosha smiled, back on sane territory. "Quite the bright young gentleman, only 16 and he's at university level!"
((Nothing bad, she just ran out of time ^^))

Kiro nodded towards Fae with his usual quiet politeness as Alyosha introduced them, feeling the worst of his blush fade. But then his intellect was mentioned again... he tried not to boast about it, but was unused to someone else boasting on his behalf.
Blushing anew, he held out the neatly written report and the fluff back to Alyosha. "Thanks..." He murmured, in embarassed reference to the praise.

(( Ohh, I see. ^^ ))
"Oh.." She blantly replied. It sounded so choppy and unsure, but the hint in Aly's eyes to not question him further...well, she decided she'd ask Syren whenever she got back later.
Turning to meet Kiro, she bit her lip and gave him a little nod. "Sorry...it just looked like you were..." She trailed off in sentence, realizing what she was about to say. She merely shook her head and held her hand out. "Working for the team, hm?" A sparkle of interest peaked in her eye. She's done so much research herself...she wondered and dreamed and almost lost this reality. She suddenly shook her head and looked at the items in his hands. "Ooh. So what's our young scholar studying now?" She grinned. "Maybe you could borrow my data log sometime...if it'd be of any interest," she grinned hintingly.

Alyosha took the report and fluff, then nodded. "Thanks, Kiro" he smiled, seeing the boy's rather cute blushes. "Well, i'm afraid i'll need to retire for the night.. he said, I'm feeling somewhat.. exhausted." he nodded to them both, moving to shut the door. "Have a good night, both of you and i'll get back to you on this report, Kiro-kun".
Closing the door he felt rather rude but he just wasn't up for much social interaction. He placed the report on the table, the fluff carefully beside it and resolved to read it in the morning. Grabbing a cover from the cupboard he turned off the lights and threw himself down on the pillows, trying to fall asleep.
((Gah, sorry, tis 2.30am and I have to be up at 8.30 @_@ Must flee..))

Kiro turned from Alyosha's closed door, a little more satisfied than when he'd approached it. The snatch of conversation he'd overheard still bothered him somewhat though. It wasn't that he wanted to know what had happened, more he wanted to know Sy and Alyosha were both okay. Alyosha at least had seemed like he'd 'snatched' at Kiro as a topic of conversation.
He then turned to Fae, remembering he'd been addressed. "Your data log?"
((I'll be making a hasty exit soon - it being early morning for me too ^^;; ))

Fae drew back her hand and bit back a gulp. He seemed much more suspicious like she had before and let her hand drop to her side awkwardly. "Oh, good night, Alyosha," she quickly got in before he shut the door.
Turning back towards Kiro, she blinked and smiled some. "The Aerandir spiecies is rather interesting, so I kept a research journal about them. I observed and recored each stage as far as the gryphonic stage, including information about the fur and fluffs. Mostly about how you can predict how each Aerandir will behave and appear in nature," she explained, proud how she could finally tell someone about this. Even if he was a few years younger, Aly approved of him.

Kiro nodded, listening attentively. He was like a sponge with this stuff - he loved it. It seemed like a topic he simply... clicked with...
He smiled timidly, a little of his enthusiasm showing. "It sounds like you really know about this stuff." He paused. "I've not seen much of the Aerandir yet, I'm not so sure on the subject. But I'd love to see your 'data log' - I should learn some useful things from it."
He continued smiling quietly at her, before suddenly his mouth opened wide in a huge yawn. It was amusing to watch, he seemed almost surprised by how it had sneaked up on him. Of course, he hadn't slept last night - such was his eagerness to find out about the task he'd been set.
"Can I borrow it off you sometime?" He asked when his yawn subsided. His ears flopped a little, despite his eagerness being a little tired. "I'm just really tired right now... I need to sleep... So, maybe later?" Still smiling, he offered Fae a small, polite bow before stepping backwards away from her then turning and moving off towards his room again, his tail trailing along tiredly behind him. Although by now it was instinctively staying away from his feet.
It was a good sign you'd studied something throughly when you couldn't keep your eyes open afterwards.

Fae smiled downwardly of equal shyness. She had never been complimented about her work, but he hadn't even seen it yet! As least the flattery was nice.
Watching him go through a fit of yawns, she stiffled a giggle and nodded to him. "Next time I see you, you are more than welcomed to borrow it! Between you and me, though," she said, about to let out her secret. "I'm interested in that sort of thing. Ya know, being on the team. But of course I have my own Aerandir to look after right now. She's only a griff, so I haven't really 'stepped up' yet." Perhaps, he might say something to Aly about her, but then again, that was getting her hopes up a bit too high. She always loved being busy, and ever since she's moved here, she has been working hard to even find things to keep her busy. Besides watching over Pueblo, and her other family members, of course.
"Goodnight, Kiro!" She waved off to him. As she watched him leave, the thought of his tail re-entered her mind as she watched it flit about. "...!" Better ask him next time. "Speaking of Pueblo...where'd that rascall go?!" Tracing back in memory...Pueblo chased Delta, Delta ran upstairs, Delta ran towards Aly, Aly shut the door...Pueblo must have gotten trapped inside. Gritting her teeth, she poliety knocked at the door. "Aly?" She caleld out. Hm...he must be asleep. Regreating this, she had to get home and she couldn't just leave Pueblo inside! Turning the knob a little, she poked her head inside, but didn't go any farther than that. "Pueblo?" She whispered.
Making sure Delta was alright, she gave her a soft nuzzle until it only just occured to her where she was. Blinking, her ear picked up the faint familiar voice. Fae! She ran in the direction of her voice and scooted out the door.
"There you are!" She gasped, scooping the griff up into her arms and shutting the door. "Delta's alright I presume? In that case...it's time to go home." And soon enough, the two set off for home through the dark.

Sy and Delta, had, in fact, retired to the back room. Delta really had no notion of what was bothering Sy so much other than it had something to do with Aly... but she couldn't harbor ill will towards the man who had really saved her and delivered her to Sy. Besides, she got the feeling Sy didn't hate him. It was confusing. Sy was confused too.
And they both wanted the futon.
Sy won this battle, so Delta decided to throw a little fit, finding the floor too hard. Much to Sy's dismay she trotted out to the living room where Alyosha was and made a little nest out of cushions, throwing her mother an indignant look, and promptly went to sleep on them. In just a few days time she was already getting a bit spoiled.
Sighing, Sy realized that she, much as she might like to, would not be able to keep an eye on her from the futon. After grumbling to herself quite a bit, she settled down on the floor, pushing together what cushions were left for bedding, and went to sleep. Her shirt was oversized enough (as it was made for a larger Tryon) she could sleep in it and her skirt comfortably enough. With one eye on Aly and the other on Delta, she resigned herself to sleep.

Alyosha woke from his sleep, yawning loudly. He remembered last night fuzzily, his senses reaching out as he stretched them. She was here, still. Maybe she hadn't left, his senses hadn't been... fully avaliable to him last night due to his mood. If he didn't think about it, his senses "forgot" to relay information to his brain.
She was right next to him, lying there. Geh. But still sleeping.
He got to his feet, wandered to the kitchen and made some tea, toast and some grapefruit. A lemon for Sy if she so wished it. He piled it onto a tray and brought it through to the low living room table . "Sy?"

Sy was dead the world, but thankfully not snoring. However, Delta easily woke, especially at the smell of fruit. Despite the lovely taste of seeds, she really did enjoy fruit greatly, and so she pranced over to Alyosha and tried to look cute enough he'd give her something. It always worked on Sy, after all.
Feeling something brush against she she opened one eye at the little Aerandir, and then wearily saw that kitsune that was looking at her. He had probably just addressed her, much like one of the many men that frequented her dreams. Crap. She couldn't much pretend to be asleep now, and Delta was staring at the food and Aly in such a way she knew her daughter must be hungry.
With a resigned sigh she sat up and started running her fingers through her tangled hair as her bleary eyes started to focus. What could he want now? He was bad for her, yes, she got that much... what more could he possibly say? Why drag this out any more? She preferred to ignore it until all attached emotions dissolved... it saved hurt feelings and awkward moments.

Alyosha sat down at the table, picking a knife from the tray and cutting a slice from the grapefruit. He placed it on the table, which was low enough that Delta should be able to pluck it off.
He turned to Sy once again, her sleepyness quite endearing. "I want to talk with you. But first: breakfast" he smiled a little, pushing one cup of tea towards her, no milk or sugar in it. "Toast is from some bread I made a few days ago, should be ok."
He sat with his own tea, sipping at it, and munching on the toast.

Rubbing an eye she looked at him a little suspiciously as Delta dragged the fruit off the table and started to pull the juicy parts away with her beak. Immediately Sy started to fret over her littlest one making a mess and started to pull away the fruit from the rind so that there wouldn't be grapefruit juice staining Aly's floors. As Delta paused to swallow the pieces of fruit, Sy took sips of the strong tea.
She still couldn't imagine what he wanted to talk to her about. The tea had been a nice gesture, but toast he wasn't quite sure was still entirely good made her cringe a little inwardly. She hoped desperately that old toast wasn't his idea of a form of flattery.
"Uh... I'll pass on the toast. I'm not much for breakfast anyway," she shrugged. Besides, she wasn't in a hurry as they had given her the day of on account of her birthday.

Alyosha looked at the little gryphon and Sy's attempts to make her eat more cleanly. "Don't worry too much, it's a wooden floor afterall and I've had worse.. heh.. I have brought up one of these creatures myself.." he looked at her, still sipping at the tea. It was hot, a little overly so for his own tastes.
"Sy-chan, I really want to sort things out with you.. I can't stand you running from me all of the time and I'm not a person who can ignore problems until they go away, especially not feelings." There, he had said what he thought, maybe this time they wouldn't be interrupted.

She shifted a little uncomfortably and sipped so much of her tea and so quickly it burned her tongue a little. Her mind unable to be distracted, even by a slightly scalded tongue, she put down the cup and fidgeted a little, resolving herself to what would probably be a rather depressing discussion.
Abruptly Sy's outwards countenance went from bleary-eyed to so somber and dismal it looked like someone had just put her puppy in a blender. And he hadn't even said anything yet. It was very clear what she thought was coming.
Meanwhile Delta finished her fruit, burped, and laid down to preen her wing feathers. They had evidently gotten mussed in her sleep and were in dire need of attention.
