"Order" is such a misleading word. For us, it usually means PIZZA PARTY WOOHOO!

Open about what? Exactly, he couldn't say. Hadn't he already asked Lorika what her relationship with him was, and why would they wish to hide that ...? Glancing down again, at Lorika and himself, he also didn't think they matched, not dressed how he was, and well, perhaps everyone was giving him too much credit to think he had a very high IQ.

Finally, he dispelled the befuddlement and wistfully smiled again at Feline. "This is not a very bad place to be." And in all his innocence, it was clear he meant that with all his heart. "I am sorry things are not the same, and about the outcome of the war ... but we won, to say in a way. The Sentinel and her army was halted. Erm ... and you do not eat clams, I hope?"

Harata looked at the Overseer with amusement. "Not to be disrespectful, but if you say anyone won, it would be the Nation. The BOO unit, and any people, not as...radical, such as I were chased off the land. They own most of the land, most of the controlling factors. Yet, they do not have their leader. So."

Lorika, faced with the prospect of being carried somewhere and thus losing whatever dignity she had left, suddenly snapped her head away from the Overseer's chest.

"No, no!" she cried, detaching herself swiftly "I-I'm fine, really!"

She stumbled back a few steps, not able to look anywhere in particular. She felt herself blushing. All of the respect she'd managed to build up for herself had obviously been shattered in the last day, since the Overseer's return. Nobody would take her seriously after this stunt. In one fell swoop, she'd been taken back to the position she'd been in for the majority of her life.

The tears threatened. She was making a fool of herself. And Harata's comments...

All she'd wanted to do was assure the Overseer that she was there to help him; that he didn't need to do anything special for her to l... love him. Now it looked like...

Snapping her head up, she met his eyes for a brief second. Her voice, surprisingly, sounded a lot steadier than she felt. Then again, she was used to putting on masks. "I have to go. Be sure to eat something, my Lord. I... I'll see you all at prayers."

With that she turned, ducking her head, and began to run in the direction of the Temple.

User ImageFeline reflexivly stuck her tounge out at the thought of eating clams.

"No clams, " She said quickly, "Too chewy and I don't think I could try to eat another one after knowing of your association with them."

The Overseer seemed like such a nice guy in person. Not all overbearing like she feared he would be. I could be freinds with a person like that. Having a few freinds here would be nice.

She then got a little sad thinking of the war. "Nobody wins when there is war." She said to both, a few tears in her eyes.

(Lets just pretend this post happened before Lorika ran off... xd )

Harata inclined her head. "That is true. There are only those who lose some, and those who lose all."

Feline found a new surge of respect for Harata. She may be a Sinner, but she was an honorable person.

(got to run off soon to an office holiday party...*sigh* was having such a fun time here!)

(( Hay, I just noticed something. Lorika might not be such a bad match after all. I mean, by changing the conversation topic so often and all at least she's keeping a man with a very short attention span interested... ninja ))

Even after he had said it, he knew Harata had to throw in her own two twisted cents on her version of events, or she just wouldn't be Harata. He felt his hackles rise, even as she said she was meaning not to be disrespectful, and he clenched his jaw. Keeping his calm exterior, he bit his tongue to keep from saying more, because no good would came of it. At least he exercised his patience, although his dirty glance was a low blow.

Speaking to Feline again, he said, "I ... oh ..." That was when he noticed the tears sparkling in the corners of her eyes, and he swallowed down his words, wondering what he had done wrong now. To worsen things, Lorika detached from him, said her farewells and left on her own. The Overseer floundered, forgetting what he had been trying to say as he watched her go.

Those words he swallowed down threatened to choke him now, the awkwardness of it all, and when he tried to say something, anything, they only came out in a quiet croak. He shook his head, hating how lost he was, and beat his own hasty retreat towards the temple. Although he walked, the Overseer entered the doors not long after Lorika, wondering if he should follow her.

Just so that her luck kept on mounting, Lorika had been stopped on her way to her room by an acolyte. The boy stood between her and the door to the stairs corridor, just beside the shrine, and she felt like a twitchy bird with all the bobbing around trying to subtly dodge past him she was doing. After a few minutes, the boy suddenly stopped jabbering and stared off beyond her shoulder. Oh, dear.

Sure enough, she turned around to see that the Overseer had followed her. She bit her bottom lip ever so slightly, eyes big and glistening with unshed tears.

He'd followed her.

She didn't know why, but... maybe that meant she was doing something right.

A long silence passed while the priestess tried to decide what to do. The boy stood behind her, mouth agape, completely forgotten.

Well, there was really only one action she could take. With a deep sigh, she walked forward slowly, giving the Overseer plenty of time to push her away if he wanted to, holding her arms out for another hug.

"I'm sorry I ran away. And I'm sorry I keep hurting you," she said softly, gazing up at him "I suppose I should say what I mean, instead of contriving some silly metaphor. I... just want you to know that I will always stand beside you, no matter what happens. It doesn't matter who or what you are, to me. I-I'll always..." she trailed off, glancing down for a second, before looking back up hopefully, still holding out her arms just a short distance in front of him.

Behind her, the young boy slunk from the room, feeling as if he'd only be disturbing an important moment to stay.

Evelyn danced around the beach singing "Once Upon a December." For some reason, she thought this would make the Overseer come out. Perhaps because of his memory loss, he would feel the song in his heart...

"Dancing bears,
Painted wings
Things I almost remember
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December"

When Lorika turned around and saw him, he felt caught. Second guessing himself, he was not sure he was welcome, seeing more tears, that is, until she walked towards him with arms outstretched. For a moment he wished he gone the other way - a selfish thought - and Overseer and Acolyte exchanged an equal puzzling glance. Both seemed just as stunned to see one another.

"I-I ... got angry. I really should not have let my anger get the better of me. I am the one who is sorry." He shrank back a few steps, watching the young Acolyte exit, and thinking that he was supposed to leave as well. He did a double-take, looking back at the High Priestess. "I had only wished to know where you were going, if you were alright, and I am not angry with you. Please, if I knew how ..."

He paused, unsure where he had been going with that sentence. "Please do not cry anymore." The Overseer was going to back right out the room if she didn't catch him, his flighty nature showing through.

{{I don't really know what to do with Evie. Like, at all. So she'll just sing and look for Pseudoverseer...}}
