Solaris

Sorry...
...I'll be taking my leave now.

{Traverse Town : Second District : Underground Sewer}

"It would be a pleasure to have tea with you." He said, moving to take hold of Merlin's arm, just below his elbow. While he may not have appeared to be all that excited, he was positively giddy. For the first time in ages. Maybe it was just the prospect of getting to sit for tea with the best mage he had ever met, or maybe it was that he was being treated truly as a human, rather than a slave, by somebody other than his previous master and the bakery lady, or maybe it was something else. Whatever the reason, Sol was happier to be doing this than he had been in a long time.

Tsurumi

I'd prefer if you were to just...

...disappear

{Castle Oblivion ~ Commons Area}

While she did hear what Olum said, it was more of like she was hearing it from afar. She heard him, but she had already filed him away as something distasteful, like a stupid homeless man outside of a five star restaurant, begging for change. Instead, she focused on the new child more, only taking one bit of information from his little 'advisory speech'. So this is the Number X... She thought, looking down at the child.

And then, she heard her speak. She spoke with a maturity that didn't match her age, confirming Tsurumi's guess that the child was special. Taking in her words, she watched as the girl transformed...into a copy of herself. But still in the whorish outfit. Granted, it wasn't as bad as if a child had been wearing it, but it still bridled her. But, no, she would deal with it. She had joined to cause chaos, and it wasn't worth getting killed over her pride. But maybe a little fight every now and then wouldn't be so bad. Just to keep things fresh.

"Well, I will certainly take your words to heart. My apologies for insinuating that you were a whore." She said, an apologetic tone to her voice. But then she brightened up. "Now, if you don't mind, will you turn around a bit? I've been wondering about a new hair style, but it's so hard to figure out what looks good when you only have a mirror to judge. But you, why, you're better than any mirror out there. Absolutely priceless. Or, maybe not." While she said all of this with a smile, there was a definite undercurrent of fury. It was well hidden, but it was there.

˹The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.˼

The vixen cocked her head to the side as she noticed the way Number Xll's gaze seemed to be focused solely on her; she appeared to be tuning out Ölüm's words.

"Interesting..." she noted, raising an eye as Tsurumi's upper body rose slightly. Was she bridled? My oh my...

And then she spoke.

"We met each other but a minute ago, girl," she retorted coldly through her teeth, her voice firm. "You are in no position to command anything of me, let alone with such malicious intent. I am no tool."
Standing up, Number X took several steps towards the girl and leaned in close to whisper in her ear. "I don't even know your name yet," she hissed.

And then she burst into flame.

The blazing swirls enveloped every inch of her, charring her skin and crackling maniacally as it devoured its victim. The vulpine's golden locks fell into ash; her forest green eyes curled up in agony and her lips contorted in a way no one could imagine as she let out a long inhumane scream.
There she was; a life-size, living, breathing replica of Tsurumi and she was being burnt alive. Her anguished shrieking would fill the aeromancer's ears; the putrid smell of her burning flesh would reek in her system... Even the heat given off by the flames would kiss and caress her tanned skin.

What would you do if you saw yourself being roasted alive?

˻So it all comes down to what you want. Worms, or cheese.˺

[[Okies guys, just a note: the only one being affected by this illusion is Tsurumi ^^. To everyone else, Aiko is still in her seat and Tsurumi's still standing there beside her. Tsurumi, however, will see, hear and feel Aiko Tsurumi burning alive ^^.]]

{A heart shed for power is the only heart of worth.}

[Castle Oblivion : Commons Area (AKA Kitchen)]

"Number Ten always did love to play with her food," Vereor said to those near him as he finished the tea, pouring it into the cups of those who were near. He set a cup of tea down in front of Aiko's chair, but never once looked up at her; he could tell from Tsurumi's position that she was under an illusion, and for him to look at the chair where Aiko currently sat would break the illusion.

"Calm yourself, Ölüm. You know the one rule. No betrayal or harming of another member without otherwise-granted permission. She may be new, but she is our sister regardless. She will become acclimated soon enough," he explained while setting out the other cups at the chairs where each member who wanted one would sit. "Now, Aiko, as interesting as it may be to test the limits of the neophytes, I'd prefer if you did not tempt them to anger so soon... and around the tea."

{Don't fear the dark... fear what's in it.}

[Castle Oblivion : Common Room]

Although still standing, the drow had moved from his spot to a more inconspicuous location next to a tall cabinet in the kitchen. The place had no shadows to speak of, none like earlier at least, and yet, although plainly visible, the ebony skinned creature was not very noticeable as he leaned calmly against the wall. Perhaps it was because he was so much smaller than the rest, or just so very, very quiet. One might wonder 'where did he go,' and then look for, and find him, quite suddenly, moved to this different location. He had a way of doing that.

Whatever the case, he was undisturbed at the moment, and content to watch the fascinating exchange between Tsurumi, Ölüm, and Aiko.

The others in the room were not unnoticed. Zekvyr noted with interest how Haruko seemed disappointed no one had 'enjoyed' her work- something to file away for future use- and the question about lab equipment from another of their newer members... that, in particular, sparked his interest. He contemplated leaving right then, showing this intriguing 'scientist' where the lab equipment was. Tsurumi, however, held his interest, and he lingered a while longer.

{[Elde]}

"Why does fortune seem to strike the most kindhearted people? Is everything just pre-ordained?"

.:[Traverse Town: Second District Cafe']:.

Elde glanced at the schematics of the ship, still with the bottle of wine between his lips. From what he could tell it looked pretty swanky. He hadn’t seen Sory’s ship yet but he was assuming it wasn’t as high class as this particular number.

Besides this Rufus guy seemed like a good guy, he wanted to find things out about the heartless in order to help people. Elde couldn’t see if he had an ulterior motive, he wasn’t a mind reader after all, but from how the man was acting outwardly he seemed trustworthy enough. Didn’t mean Elde would trust him, but he hardly ever gave his trust to anyone…

… and he wasn’t just saying all this because he was pretty tipsy at the moment… or so he wished. He looked away from the screen and placed the bottle back on the table… not so gingerly. He then placed his hands on the table and attempted to push himself up from the table.

“Ooo… oh, oh dear… I’m good! I’m good!... I’ll be back Ruf guy!” he said as he temporarily stumbled onto one foot and managed to re-adjust himself, but just barely. He glanced at Alex and made some kind of slick pointing motion towards her, his hand forming the shape of a gun for a second as he smirked and stumbled to the door of the meeting room.

Would now be a good time to talk to Sory about his plan?... OFCOURSE it would! He figured he’d try and keep a potential ally while going his own way, hopefully he wouldn’t let anything ridiculous slip in his current situation…

He eventually made it to the table(s) that everyone was currently gathered around stumbling into a chair and almost falling over in it before he managed to stop himself mid-fall and sit himself down in it. He was currently sitting in the chair backwards as he looked at everyone, leaning his head against his arms which were rested on the back of the chair. He gave a look and a slight motion with his hand to Suzuran and the others he had seen but not been introduced to.

“Elde- HIC… ahem”
he said giving his slightly embarrassing introduction before turning to Sory. “So I was thinking, that… if… your!-“ Elde suddenly and deliberately pointed towards Sory “-lookin for your brother, and I said I’d-“ Elde turned his head to the side for a moment putting a fist over his mouth for a moment to stifle a hiccup or a burp or whatever had been about to come out of his mouth “-help, then it’d make A LOT of sense for us to split-“ Elde making a strange motion with his hands to indicate splitting “-and cover more ground!”

Proud of himself for having managed to get that all out… fairly coherently he decided to reward himself and placed his head back down on his arms, closing his eyes. He was still listening and wasn’t quite asleep… yet.

{Castle Oblivion ~ Commons Area}

So the whore had set herself on fire. Watching the blaze, she felt a bit of interest, even as she tensed in fury. It was obvious that she wasn't a pyromancer, she wouldn't let herself get caught on fire and still be burning if she was. So, what was going on? Maybe...she was an extreme masochist? Or maybe she got excited by turning into other people and burning them. Or maybe it had something to do with why she could transform in the first place.

However, that thought process didn't go on for long. She got caught up in fury over watching herself burn. And it wasn't just watching. She could feel the flames and smell the burning flesh. In an effort to get rid of the flames, she put her hands together and literally ripped the air around her burning body away, leaving nothing there for the fire to burn in. Unaware that she was in an illusion, she didn't realize that the flames would still continued, even though she had just created a small vacuum, that would suffocate anybody who decided to walk through that area.

User Image[Second District : Plaza]

Aerith watched, a look of mild interest as the young male (who was rather sadly-clothed, she noted, her motherly instincts kicking in somewhat) took a position of complete vulnerability. She'd never seen such a form of apology, but it had been easy enough to deduce. With so many different worlds and cultures, one had to be open minded, so few things came as a surprise to her anymore.

"Youni and I need to be heading to the Third District, and we've already eaten, so we won't be joining you," she explained, a reassuring smile revealing she harbored no grudges against the man. "However, when you finish eating... forgive me for assuming, but you're from another world yes? If so, go visit the clothing shop just down the street. Tell Jonah- he's the shopkeeper- to put whatever you want on Aerith's tab. It's going to get cold tonight, no need to have you freeze to death."

With that, she took Youni's hand and gave the other two a light wave. "Be careful, you two. Come, Youni, let's go see Merlin."

~Window~

[Traverse Town :: Second District]

Window opened his mouth to protest the offer of clothing, but he shut it after a moment of consideration. Logically speaking, courtesy would have to be set aside in this case; the need for clothing was much more pressing. It weighed uneasily in Window's mind--first he ran into this woman, and now she was the one offering something to him--but what could he do? He had nothing to offer in return. Well, he would make it a point to return the gesture in any way he could. Window trusted that her offer was sincere and repeated the hand gesture he originally used to greet Nalo, since it was also a parting signal. "Many thanks, young lady!" he called after her. He turned back to Nalo. "So, would you want to eat first, or accompany me to the clothing shop?"

(Thanks, Sory! I really appreciate it. <3)

[*~Youni~*]

"...."

[First district: Following Aerith>Hotel Cafe]

....Everything started with nothing.

and things moved with no sense ....

.... the presence of many buffering against it

.... imprinting what was missing.

User Image

Youni seemed to be grasping at straws for now, so she resigned herself to simply continue to observe. As they continued to wait however- a stranger, a boy, nearly collided with the healer, and the girls mismatched eyes watched him as he ducked into the cafe moments later. which meant she did not even register the a man (Window) who clipped Aerith and nearly collided with her.

It was the rush of wind that went almost unnoticed, until he started apologizing... then both were apologizing.

'oh... the boy came back'

She realized.

Apologizing; to offer an apology, is the act to excuse ones self for some fault, insult, failure, or injury to another party.

Aerith says, if you do something wrong, like something bad, which hurts someone or something, you must apologize.

It is polight to apologize. In this case, they were apologizing for colliding with Aerith- they had hurt her. Which was wrong.

But why was it wrong?

Again, this was where her reasoning fell short, and Youni had no choice but to simply accept the info she was given, as truth, until she found other evidence to prove it otherwise. Hurting people is wrong. Defending yourself is permit able. As Leon had explained.

So... hurting is bad, but defending is good. But what if the person you are defending against is hurt?

'Then ..Youni will...'

Youni's distant and empty expressionless eyes would bore into both of them, as if drinking in their appearances.

One was a darker skin then any she had encountered before, like polished copper. His eyes were a liquid, moist green, framed in a youthful masculine face with dusty soft brown hair.

The other was fair skinned in contrast, tall, with crystalline blue eyes. He had white hair- just like her and this peeked her interest for a second longer then the other.

The idea of finding similarities between herself and other beings had always spurred something inside the strange ..empty girl.

After her observation was complete and permanently imprinted within her memory, she was free to focus on the topic- and immediately there was something that confused her.

"He apologizes... with food?" she said out loud. He was using food instead of words? Or was it both? But this was her first example of an offering made in company of the systematic apology.

Apparently this unique apology was refused, politely, but refused and instead she felt Aerith take her hand, insisting they go see Merlin. But not without offering services at the shop at her expense... because-

As she was tugged in the new direction, her hands fastening to the older woman's, Youni's mind finally caught up with the situation and she simply asked with complete indifference.

"...was he naked?"

Nalo

[Traverse Town ♦ District 2]

Nalo glanced down at the ground. His wings were clipped with shame. Nalo too felt very sad. It was his fault for pulling Window into Aerith and Youni. And he had nothing to offer either. He let loose a sigh before looking back up to Window with big, ice-blue eyes. "I'm sorry Window. I'm sorry. Well...Let's getting you something to eat to put the fire back in you before we get you some new garb, better suited to you."Nalo gently grabbed Window's hand and tugged his the remaining twenty feet into the hotel's cafe.

Zigmund

Castle Oblivion: Commons Area

"Oh, your wondering about that?" he said, relaxing into a more comfortable position. "I picked 'The Quicksilver Wanderer' for my title."

Zigmund then turned to face the two bickering women. The newcomer, Aiko was just sitting there, staring at Tsurumi, while the later was seemed downright furious, and was focused on doing...something to the space in between the two. "Maybe this is why membership is so low he thought " Tea time seems to translate into 'survival of the fittest'."

~Window~

[Traverse Town :: Second District-->Cafe]

Nalo sighed and looked back up at Window. The man gave a start when he saw the Viera's eyes, so large and innocent, and yet full of penance. Then, of course, his companion had to take his hand again and cross the line into (what Window knew as) more personal and intimate territory. His heart skipped a little; whether he was moved out of pity for seeing Nalo so utterly dejected, or because he, too, shared the same feeling, Window wasn't certain. At least, that's what he thought the feeling might be. He wasn't quite sure. Window once again he felt like he didn't really know who or where he was anymore--he had never been touched so much in his life as he had in this past hour, never been more physically and emotionally exposed, and never been carted around so much like a little boy led by the hand of his mother. Window sighed; he really should tell Nalo about the implications of physical contact on his world, especially on subjects such as hand holding...but he just couldn't bring himself to do it. Besides, when was the last time he had such extensive contact with someone? Nalo had been notably generous by lending his pants to Window, despite their large size (although it was a wonder how they managed to stay on during the sprint into this plaza). Window told himself that it was the least he could do to humor Nalo and let him grasp his five-fingered appendage.

The warm air of the cafe was a relief from the nippy exterior, and Window felt himself relax, just a little. The aroma was intoxicating. It seemed that alcohol smelled the same anywhere, but the food was radically different, proved by hints of intriguing spices and teases of foreign meats which filled the man's nose. This, of course, made Window sneeze. But, oh, the smells were wonderful! He kept his enthusiasm contained, however (no need to get worked up about anything again), and asked calmly, "So, where would you like to sit? And I hope that you would not mind recommending something for me, since I have no previous experience with the food from this world."

[Traverse Town ♦ District 2 Cafe]

Nalo choose to sit at the table next to Soryuju, still one of the few familiar faces he recognized. Their meal; however, looked like it was drawing to a close. "No Window. I don't know anything about their cuisine; they cook meat, they serve alcohol, and from what I can smell, which is quite a lot, none of it is familiar. I ate fruit here just before I met you though, so... Nalo glanced sideways momentarily. "I'm just here to get you some food. And, if you don't mind, to learn more about where you come from."

{Ignorance is bliss... until reality throws a Heartless siege at you.}

[Traverse Town : Second District Cafe]

"Oh, ketchup- it's best when used as a dip, really, though it goes well on grilled meats as a condiment," he replied, chuckling at Souzourou. "Just be sure to use it sparingly, you may not like it after all-"

Just then, Nomaa returned to the table, though she did so wordlessly, which he contemplated- did she accept his offer, perhaps? Well, even if she did, it wouldn't be his business. She was likely curious about how to get home- Port Royal, she'd called it. He'd heard the name, but didn't recall visiting it. Before he could inquire, Elde appeared, making quite a scene. His behavior reminded him faintly of the men who stumbled out of the taverns back home. He chuckled somewhat before listening.

"Aye, I suppose that makes sense," he said, taking his seat. "So, you'll be going along with him, then, I assume? Don't feel insulted, but I don't plan on taking the offer. Splitting up... would be somewhat more effective. We could use Traverse Town as a hub, a meeting point. What are your plans, Suzu? Nomaa?"

After asking that, Nalo reappeared... this time, with another friend of his. A half-naked friend. Soryuju blinked, but strayed his away and back to Suzu and Nomaa, knowing it to be rude to stare.
