Ya know I never even picked the book up I don't think. Never head the interest to do so. At one point I was interested in Wuthering Heights but that's because I had been on a Twilight Kick now I could really care less about it. I've read a small part of Beowulf I almost feel sorry for you if you're reading the whole thing that's one long Poem. Good but long. We read an Excerpt from it last year.

That's weird. I read the whole poem of Beowulf in seventh grade. And I've been planning on reading Pride and Prejudice on my own time.

Cause it's a pretty well known fact that the Japanese are ahead of American School systems or at least Texas. Our teachers were too busy cramming the TAKS Test down our throats that we didn't have as much. I read Highwayman when I was in seventh grade though.

Our teachers were too busy cramming the TAKS Test down our throats that we didn't have as much. I read Highwayman when I was in seventh grade though. THANK you. mad Finally someone's addressed this. It's like, teachers don't teach English or Chemistry or [insert class that I want to learn here]. They teach the TAKS. Honestly, I think the reason people in honors classes are "smarter" is because the teachers assume the kids already know how to take a test. Example: Physics is the only class I haven't taken honors or pre-ap, and it's also the only class in which I learned absolutely NOTHING. .... UGH!! scream
I'm so glad I don't have to worry about those tests any more. 3nodding

The most annoying test on the face of the planet. It's not being used anymore but when I was in highschool if you wanted to Graduate you had to Pass the TAKS Test. It's composed of 3 parts. Writing, History, and Science. You would learn absolutely nothing in your classes because they were too busy trying to teach you how to pass the Taks. My dad said it was Bush's Fault because it was part of that No Kid left behind thing he passed. Just be glad you never had to take it Roki. It is the bane of every single kid in Texas. Now they've actually gotten smart and have end of course exams that actually cover the subject you're supposed to be taking! In Chemistry we spent maybe the first semester flipping through the book but as soon as we got back form Winter Break it was time for TAKS. I hated that test with a passion and still do.

I love private schools. The only thing we really have to follow from the state is taking the OGTs, which it what this TAKS sounds like. (OGT=Ohio Graduation Test) It was basically a joke though. We took it at the end of our sophomore year and most schools in Ohio don't do it till the end of their junior or senior year to make sure the kids pass. xD

(Only if you passed the previous tests though.) Yep it was a pain in the neck. The teachers focused on it more than the actual subject so nearly everytime they pulled out a thing for TAKS the kids would groan. We'd have rather read Great Expectations again than go over Taks for the eight millionth time. Which is saying something as all the kids in my year hated that book with a passion me included.

One of my teachers once said, "If they think that's there's no praying in schools then they have never been here during TAKS testing."

That is sooooooooooooooo true! That is probably one of the only things almost every student agrees on. They hate the Taks.
