Sometimes, when I'm sitting in my bedroom...
All ALONE... in the DARK...
I sometimes look up at the stars and wish I was them.
All ALONE... but in plain SIGHT...
But then I think of something...
.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.Floreta blinked. "Three?" She asked quietly, gazing at him. "What do you mean, three?" ---- Reign scowled, standing up as best she could. "What's wrong, brat?" She snarled. "Afraid of the big bad wolf? What's your business with Harlin?" .x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.
It's really strange, I think...
When they're up there...
They're all ALONE. In the DARK. But everyone can SEE them...
It's strange when I look up at them...
Because they kinda remind me of YOU.

Calentine stopped and rolled his eyes, not that Reign could see, however. "I'm looking for Harlin. For my own reasons. Know you his whereabouts?" Calentine said, barely turning around. He just seemed to particularly dislike Reign, immensely, because he was very close to outright scowling at her. Calentine... had some issues.
~
"The, the three," Raziel repeated, confused. "Three always save existence. It was so once--" PHANTASMAH was one of three "--and so it always shall be..." His demeanor suggested that Floreta, as well as everyone else, should know this. As if it were common sense.

She felt dumb beneath the man's gaze, and found herself blushing in embarrassment. It's not MY fault I don't know these things!---- Reign tossed her great head, returning the scowl with a wolfish one of her own. "Not here, obviously," she replied. "We saw him in the forests. Last time I checked, he was supposed to be heading back here to Remli. To do that he had to cross the Nanne, and well..." she smirked. "You know what happens there every spring." .x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.

"Which means... he's at--" Calentine abruptly turned and began walking away again, this time hiding none of his haste, just barely short of running. "Damn it all...."
Calentine had already turned the corner and was heading toward the exit to the... place.
~
"How do you know about Malice and all that?" Shef asked.
"I get around," stated the old man, Raziel, who was obviously content to wait until either another question was asked or everyone suddenly agreed to help defeat Malice, apparently.
At this, Shef found himself slightly confused and preferring to remain quiet, now. He glanced over at Harlin.

.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.Reign's eyes sharpened. "ALHIRIA!" She called. The phoenix jerked in mid-flight, nearly falling into the Nanne. "*SQUAAAAAAWK!* WHAT, REIGN?!"Reign smirked. "I think I know someone who knows where your dear Floreta is."Alhiria was immediately zooming back the way she had come, barreling forward until - with a mighty gust of wind - she reappeared in Remli, her wings spread wide. "WHERE, REIGN?!" She demanded, slamming her talons down onto the ground in front the wolf and narrowly missing Calentine with the resulting shock-wave. "WHERE?! WHERE IS HE?!" Reign's smirk widened. "Look to your left." The great phoenix did. And saw Calentine. "YOU!" She screeched, making Reign - with her sensitive ears - wince. "WHERE IS SHE?! WHERE IS FLORETA, NOW?!" .x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.

With a lightweight ease, Calentine simply lifted his feet and sailed a few yards away, carried by the shock wave / gust. He glanced around, opened his mouth to say something--and then ran.
Calentine was a fast little guy, too.
((I love my siggy.))

Needless to say, she was faster. Reaching down with a single talon, she snatched him from the ground by his coat, lifting him up into the air. "Tell me what I want to know or I will drop you!" She snarled. "You won't die, but you will DEFINITELY be in pain!" .x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.

The coat was suddenly not attached to the boy, and Calentine was running, again. In open plains and rolling hills, this was very nearly pointless. The main thing was, Alhiria would be unable to grab Calentine again. Since he could see her approach no matter his position or hers relative to his, any time she swooped in--in a straight line, of course, or a curving arc--he could simply jump to the side, or roll out of the way. To catch him in flight would be too difficult. It looked like a better approach was to drop Reign in Calentine's path. His swords hung from either hip, strapped on tightly and not waving in the wind or speed of travel/
((Still all for the fight, but you gotta make him stop.))

.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.Alhiria screeched. "REIGN ARE YOU SEEING THIS?!" She demanded. Reign paused from where she was sniggering. "Ah, yes. And?" Alhiria screeched again, flapping her wings and flying off to the left. Arching her wings, she swooped down from the right, swooping downwards to cut Calentine off with a mighty gusty of wind blasting him backwards. He would have no choice but to go back the way he came or get caught by either the phoenix's talons or beak. It seemed Alhiria had tossed the idea of keeping Calentine alive and was now focused on attacking him mercilessly. The side that Floreta's presence always suppressed was emerging again. This side of Alhiria was dangerous, ruthless, and reckless. She wasn't thinking anymore. Now she just saw Calentine as prey. Reign seemed to realize this. "Oh dear..." .x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.

Calentine seemed to sense this. He was sent backward by the air, somersaulting backward high up. He still maintained his equilibrium, and every time Alhiria soared, swooped, lunged, or stabbed, he would contort and twist his body in midair in such a was as to simply glance off of talons, buffet off of wings, and duck away from the beak with amazing accuracy. Calentine was... untouchable.
This was when he brought out his blades, and any time Alhiria got close, she would lose feathers in the process. The reason this montage of actions was stated was because, Calentine was now continuously jumping and performing complex acrobatic maneuvers, along with jumping higher than an ordinary human could anyway, even if only by a bit. All the wind being thrown around was starting to rise up a continuous gust. The tiniest wave of the hand in one area could cause a tornado a thousand miles away.

.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.Alhiria - though seemingly insane now - knew, somewhat, what she was doing. With each gust of wind and attack of talons, she was sending Calentine back Reign's way. Reign realized this. Clever little bird...Squaring herself up, she prepared herself for the pain to follow. Okay legs, you better not fail me. Calentine - during one of his twists in midair to avoid the massive phoenix - was suddenly above the wolf. And all things that go up must come down. HERE WE GO!Reign leaped up into the air, sending pain flashing through her back legs that she knew would haunt her for days after. But it didn't matter. That pain made her rise up, even with Calentine as he began to fall. She thrust her jaws forward. "HELLO-!" She bit down on the juncture between his left shoulder and throat, her teeth sinking down into his flesh and piercing whatever armor he wore - if he was wearing any at all. Alhiria let out a cry as she spiraled downwards, Reign falling downwards with Calentine in her jaws as well. "And that's the way you do it!" .x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.

Ew. This was like a lesson with Kal, and she already missed him- slightly. Kiki watched a few rings around the old man's fingers, a flash of intrest hitting the arch of her eyebrow. She stopped herself however, seeing as how this old beetle could barely walk properly. She pursed her lips with disintrest. That was until he mentioned Malice. She wasn't usually told of what was bad around the world, her world, at least. Ah- forget it. Kiki wasn't intrested in three powerful people who would most likely have to be met along the way to some big snowy mountain. Rah-hoo. She was already sick of water, frozen or otherwise.
Kiki rolled her eyes and raised her hand- ignoring the sounds from the little disturbances over there.
"Yeah, how do I get off this place?"
She demanded, picking up her half-dried knapsack and putting her bowl of gunge on Shef's head. Kiki watched the old man with little patience and made her way for the door..thing.

Harlin returned Shef's gaze with steady eyes, not looking away from him to ask the old man a question. The boy looked familiar, in a way. Now that the river had washed the twigs and dirt out of his hair and off his face, Harlin could see a sort of resemblence. To whom, he did not yet know. But he seemed familiar.
"How is Malice planning to uproot the Ether? The ferals and other Guard pairs wouldn't let that happen, correct?" There was a certain bitterness to Harlin's voice, a tone of something dear to him, lost.
He'd heard of the three before, almost a sort of myth passed on to him by the gypsies and nomads that roamed the Ether. He hadn't yet gotten around to teaching Floreta about it, as they had concentrated moreover on combat and knowledge. Folklore hadn't yet been discussed.
He spared a glance at Kiki, who was walking for the door. "I'm glad some people are firm believers in the saying 'ignorance is bliss'." His goal was to keep her here, by any effective means. However, if she wanted to leave, he could not stop her.
A young girl, no more than six, watched the battle ensue between Calentine, Reign, and Alhiria. She was standing at quite a distance from them, looking on with curiosity and excitement in her eyes.
"Maybe they want to play?" she asked Blake, her Guardian. She kept a fist knotted in his mane, standing under the shade of a fruit-bearing tree. What kind of fruit, she didn't know, but as a six-year-old sometimes does, she dubbed them "Aprange Berries" because they tasted similar to citrus and had an apple's texture.

.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.Floreta glanced over at her teacher in a mixture of curiosity and concern, her sensitive heart able to feel the twist of scorn and distaste in his tones. She had always had a knack for hearing such things, after all. Those that have sensitive hearts are sensitive to the hearts of others. Marina scowled, but said nothing. Partly, she agreed with Kiki. But if going along with the old coot means I can be with Queenie again, so be it."So what do we do first?" .x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.x.X.

"There is exactly one boat on the northern end of this island," Raziel stated flatly, staring after Kiki. He said no more on this, but it was apparent that if anybody else wished to ever leave the island, they would all have to leave together, because Kiki was most assuredly not going to arrange for the boat to come back to them. In this, Raziel was sure that, at least, none of the humans would leave while even one wanted to stay. Unless that one was old and easily overpowered, of course.
"I ask this of you," the old man said, speaking to all now, "because there are no others for it to fall on. Malice has already taken one of three under his bosom, likely to be killed once the chance arrives. The other two must waste no time in traveling to his rescue."
Raziel gestured at the trapdoor which led back down. "Malice resides on Earth," he informed them, "but I cannot divine the location. The magic in me and on this island, it grows... weak. And... I can no longer fight," Raziel added. "It would be the end of me."
This apparently selfish tone sank in, leaving everyone to wonder how exactly Raziel thought he could fight, if needed, even at the cost of his own life--or so it seemed.
"If you find the Chaos Being, June, she will be able to tell you exactly of Malice's location. I know that June typically resides on Mount Gagazth. Or you can attempt to find him yourselves, or wait for him to come to you. My only part was to inform you of what needed to be done. Now, whether Ether lives on... is in all of your hands."
Shef's snore broke the silence that followed.
~
Calentine did not hesitate to whip around, in the very jaws of the beast itself, and plunge his right-handed sword deep into the Guardian's neck.
--Or, this was what he attempted to do. But sharp teeth pierced his shoulder, rending Calentine's body and rendering him unconscious.
