Just like what they had done, the grenades came flying back, not killing anyone but injuring quite a few. It would be harder to hold the position now.

"Let em cook, guys!" Shae said, still laying down covering fire from his revolvers. The mercs let the grenades cook for a few seconds before throwing them again.

They had already been trying frequently, but now they counted longer, and were more successful than before. Presumably. Too much dust to see much of anything.
At least not as many were coming back.

"Keep it up, boys!" Shae called gleefully. Apparently, the mercs were well-stocked and prepared for a siege.

Things went silent for a long time. It seemed the agents were reconsidering their plan.
It occurred to Shae that the agents were well-supplied and probably had replacements available.

((Hey, that's fine with me. Mercs holding back Agents because of high ground and advance planning? That's Five Star for you.))
Shae sighed. "All right, we've got a breather. Get the wounded taken care of. Two of you, with me. We're taking that furniture down. The rest of you, set back up and get the wounded back." He went to the stairs and glanced around the corner, pulling back immediately. If it was clear, he and his men would begin taking down the furniture.

Shae forgot that agents had nice reflexes, and was rewarded by losing an ear.
They were all just sitting down there, waiting for anything to come at them.
No, that wasn't true, there were a couple, but not like twenty like there had been before.
The others were repositioning.

((What! Shae has wicked reflexes too! Ever before he got upgraded, which he <******** bomb these bastards!" he said. His men cooked their grenades, a tad bit longer than before, then threw them so that they bounced down into the stairwell from above.

At least one enemy was incapacitated, probably several. Many were assurredly wounded.
There were car noises coming from outside the window, and then
CRASH
They were stacking up cars outside the windows.

"Haha! No." Gabriel said as he was shaken from his aim by the car. He pulled a grenade from his vest and cooked it for a second or so before dropping it into the pile of cars. He backed well away from the window.

It blew up; a car lit on fire but the agents didn't seem to care too much as they went down the streets, hotwiring cars ideally where Gabriel couldn't shoot them and piling them up against the wall.
One more good-sized car and they could come in a window.

What they didn't know was that the mercs were waiting beside and and below the window, with armor-piercing fully automatics and some nades ready to toss.

Hmm...C-4 would be fun. Gabriel thought as he searched his person for any.

The final car was pulled up to their little pack, and they started climbing.
There were maybe five of them OH CRAP
More agents started coming in at the stairwell, guns blazing. The mercs there were hard-pressed, and would shortly lose their positions.

Shae tried to rally them against the Agents, but of course, there were too many. Even grenades and automatic weapons were not enough. The men at the windows threw the grenades into the pile of cars, and opened up on the surprised Agents from above. Then they pulled back, some assisting at the stairs and the rest heading up one floor. They were still a floor below Gabriel's position.
