{Kyla .:. Disney Castle .:. Hall of the Cornerstone}

"Cruel.. yet inspiring. Very surprising." was how she'd describe it.

“A different spirit you say? Interesting. I can’t imagine how that must be though to fuse yourself in that manner…”
And that was really ok? So then, what other sorts of powers would Kyle be capable of now?

Seeing Kyle’s eyes change color was a little hard for her, so the artist eventually turned away walking over to the little circle they were making around each other. She sat down on her side, legs folding with her book lain over her lap.

Everything was ready to go, now it was just a manner of starting. In a reversal to what transpired only minutes ago- but just like they had done before for Kyle, Kyla took a deep breath and shut her eyes again.

[ Kyle ; Yen Sid ; Merlin : Disney : Hall of the Cornerstone ]

Kyle cracked into a grin at Joe's response, outright chuckling when Bobbi added to it. Kyla's addition brought things to a more thoughtful note, and then she closed her eyes, beginning to meditate. Kyle nodded, looking to the others with a small nod toward Bobbi.

"Whenever you're ready, Bobbi," he said. Then he closed his eyes, began to regulate his breathing, and tried to spiritually reach out toward her.

[ Kyle ; Yen Sid ; Merlin : Disney : Hall of the Cornerstone ]

[ Some Time Later ]

With the four of them back up, they'd spent a couple minutes recomposing and decompressing. Finally, though, Yen Sid cleared his throat, getting their attention--just as Aslan strolled back in to the Hall.

"The train is ready," the lion spoke, nodding as if in assurance.

"Then we should gather the rest of them," Yen Sid replied, turning to Merlin, who energetically began scrounging through his robe for something.

"Ah, here we are," he said, pulling out a single charm piece--made of aethecite, the same as the ones the entire group had been gifted. He cleared his throat, tapped the charm with the tip of his wand, and spoke:

"Pardon the interruption!" he said, his voice ringing through the charms--including to the non-Earthling heroes. "This is Merlin, and I'm communicating via the charm you accepted at the parade. We have a mission with a bit of urgency, so please meet near the Cornerstone for your briefing."

Merlin finished, smiling to himself, only to feel Yen Sid's gaze behind him, the taller sage raising a brow. A look of confusion crossed his features before it was replaced with revelation.

"Oh, yes, also! If you're in town, then just meet in the central plaza! I'll be there shortly to bring you back."

With flustered flurry of his robes, Merlin poofed away in a cloud of blue dust that vanished instantly thereafter, going into town to wait.

{James : Disney : Library -> Hall of the Cornerstone}

James had fallen silent, his eyes closed as he fell back into his own thoughts after the last thing Elsa had said. The corsair was tired and he knew it. Not physically tired, but mentally and he felt like he needed to rest. His arms were crossed and his head leaned downward slightly, to anyone who passed by it may have looked like he was asleep.

{{Cue: Vana'diel March

The corsair's head snapped up and his eyes opened as he heard Merlin's message informing everyone of a mission. He had been hoping for a bit more time to relax, maybe actually get to enjoy the festival a bit more. However, it seemed that their work was never done for long, and always needed. With a slight groan the corsair pushed himself out of his chair and turned his focus to Elsa.

"Thank you for speaking with me for awhile Queen Elsa, and for helping us get through to Kyla, or rather, not giving her a choice in the matter. It seems that I am needed though.Farewell for now," he concluded with a slight bow of his head before he walked out of the library and began the now quite familiar trek to the Chamber o the Cornerstone.

'I wonder what has changed so suddenly for there to be this urgent mission. Perhaps it is something to do with why Kyla and Mizu were called away?'

"Perhaps, that would make some sense," Fenrir replied.

'If that is the case, then it probably involves Louis as well, James concluded. For the corsair there was still no basis of truth that that was why they had been called away. It just made sense to him since it was the only major connection that the archer and the pictomancer shared.

The gunner's experiences with Louis to the corsair had been mostly negative, aside from the slight interaction with Kyla's shard of the young man. He remembered all too well the fight that they had back in Halloween Town. How those ice warriors had taken everything he had to beat them and then the giant esper form that they had had to contend with. Louis had been with them in Port Royal, and had helped them rescue the earthlings who were going to be executed. However, that was all that the corsair could recall easily.

'I promised Kyla I would help save him, if there is something to be saved, Kyla's more positive fragment seems to suggest so. While the problems with Mizu's fragment suggests otherwise. Time will tell I guess,'

{Leon ; Auron : Disney : Fair Grounds -> Central Plaza}

Leon had been at the pub tent. He didn't participate in the beer pong, but he had a few small drinks. Alcohol had never really been his thing, and he often felt he couldn't risk not be able to fight or to think clearly when he was with the RGDF. The gunblader looked around, confused as he heard Merlin's voice initially though stopped doing so when Merlin explained how he was communicating. With a bit of a sigh the soldier stood up from his stool, preparing to make his way out of the tent.

"Let's get moving guys," Leon called out trying to get the attention of the earthlings and canons in the tent, hoping that they weren't too drunk to respond or react.

With a slight shake of his head he left the tent and made his way towards the Central Plaza where Merlin said he would come to meet all of them. As he entered the plaza he noticed that only one of the group was currently waiting there, the unsent samurai, Auron.

"So he did call all of us then." the gunblader stated as he stood next to Auron.

"So it would seem. The others?" Auron asked.

"They'll be along, provided they're not too drunk to stand on their own two feet. If they are then hopefully Merlin will be able to help get them all here."

[ Cloud ; Merlin : Disney : Fairgrounds --> Hall of the Cornerstone ]

"Drunk? All of them?!" Merlin said, suddenly becoming flustered at the thought--some of them seemed too young to even be allowed alcohol. He turned his gaze toward the revelry that was the Scottish tent and scowled, shaking his head. "I suppose this was an unexpected outing."

"That's one way to put it," Cloud said, strolling up from one of the quieter parts of town. He'd been in Aerith's house with the rest of the gang--Cid, Tifa, Vincent, the drunken Yuffie included when he and Yuffie had gotten the call.

He didn't know how he felt about the charms yet.

"They'll be here, though," he said as he leaned against one of the pillars of the pagoda in the center of town. "They always come."

---

After everyone who remained in town, and was willing to come so late, showed up, Merlin poofed them back into Hall with the rest. By this point, anyone who had been in the castle area had also arrived, including Sora, so the group was full.

Even Maggie showed up, though she stuck to the back--she seemed preoccupied, more concerned with something else.

"Gang's all here," Riku said, Mickey at his side, as they walked toward the rest of the group after being teleported. He noticed Aslan standing at the front, with Yen Sid at his side, rather than Yen Sid standing front and center. "So... what's going on, exactly?"

Joe : Disney : Fairgrounds --> Hall of the Cornerstone

'I think I'm getting the hang of this'
Joe thought as he stood upside down on the top of an overhang, several objects floating around him.

He heard Atomos laughing at him from inside his head 'I admit, you've progressed rather far for an ignorant meatbag. You still haven't even scratched the true nature of your powers yet boy, nor will you until you truly apply your skills against real opponents.'

Joe rolled his eyes and continued to concentrate. His 'roommate wasn't wrong, as much as he hated to admit it. He easily had the least experience out of anyone when it came to using his summon magic in a fight. Sure, he had his swordsmanship and his grey mist abilities, but from what Kyle and the others had told him those alone wouldn't cut it.

'Speaking of, I should probably explain those to the others the-'

His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by Merlin's message

'Well, looks like we'll be getting our chance soon, judging by the 'urgent' part of the message.'

'EXCELLENT!' the entity bellowed 'A true test of your metal. Let's see how worthy you really are, boy.'

"Let's." Joe said out load as he dropped from the overhang, letting the boxes around him crash to the ground before making his way to the town center.

{ A Bit Later}

Joe sighed as he appeared in the Hall of the Cornerstone, looking a bit drained but otherwise in a fairly good mood, and scanned the room to see who else had shown up. Gang was mostly here apparently, and from the look of it some had been here for a while. He wondered what the big deal was, especially since Aslan of all people (well, cats...) had shown up

"So..." he began, walking up to Kyle "You look well for someone whose soul got excavated earlier. Take it the procedure went well and you know what this is all about?"

{Bobbi, Demyx, Zell, Red XIII, Yuffie .:. Disney Castle .:. Hall of the Cornerstone}

Bobbi was laying on her back on the cool marble floor, having sprawled out after coming out of the Dive. She raised her head, groaned, then sat up when Yen Sid cleared his throat, wondering what was going to happen next. She was excited to hear what Aslan said about the train; even after only a couple of days, the train was starting to feel like home.

With another groan, the archer got to her feet and stretched, hearing various joints pop. Laying on marble may have seemed like a good idea at the moment, but it wasn't very good for one's back for some reason. Probably because it was completely unyielding. Ah, well, she'd get a decent rest in a real bed eventually.

As she was stretching the stiffness out of her joints, the rest of the gang arrived. Yuffie stuck close by Cloud and the other Radiant Garden residents, Zell and Nanaki were together as usual, and Demyx sequestered himself in a corner. She was surprised to see the Melodious Nocturne here; he hadn't seemed the type to be interested in this mission. But, hey, if he wanted to join, she certainly wasn't going to stop him.

[Amy : Disney Castle : Hall of the Cornerstone]

Amy had been exploring the various corners of Disney Castle. It was much more interesting to do in a first person real kind of way than it was in the Kingdom Hearts games. She could wander around a real castle, with real senses, and watch real Disney characters go about their business. Ducks, dog-creatures, mice – it was a bit bizarre. She half expected to see brooms carrying buckets of water up and down the halls and stairways.

She found a balcony, climbed up on the railing, and removed her charm, which she set beside her. She felt claustrophobic with it on; it's why she tried to destroy it when she had been a mermaid. People should keep out of her head. Besides, Ajora had been able to communicate over it, and that made it risky. What if some bad buy could just go into the charms and subtly control people's brains, huh? That'd suck.

Merlin's message came through another means, startling Amy out of her thoughts. The aethecite charm they had all gotten was responsible; she didn't realize it could do that.

She took her time going back to the Hall of the Cornerstone. She may have taken a wrong turn once or twice before she got there. When she did, there were already quite a few people in the room. She wondered if Merlin was going to assign a mission late at night, or just tell the details of it and send them off to bed to start early in the morning. She found a comfortable place to stand and listen, where she wouldn't be bumping shoulders with anyone.

[Joe: Disney Castle: Hall of the Cornerstone]

Joe hadn't really moved much since the drop ended, mainly cause he still felt comfortable on his spot on the floor. Though with a sigh, he uncrossed his legs, stretching them out and letting them get some blood flow back.

He winced a little at the pins and needles, but looked around the room occasionally, seeing which people entered. He was a little bored, but was also aware that he didn't look very 'dignified', arms crossed, sitting on the ground with his legs stretched out in front of him...but it was was still kind of comfortable. Besides, they were all waiting, anyway.

[Kyla/Axel: Disney Castle/Fair Grounds> Hall of the Cornerstone]

Kyla having composed herself did a bt of stretching, folding her hands over her head and rolling her shoulders. She felt so tired… ready to drop. Not just physically but emotionally, mentally- turning back to Aslan as he spoke she remained quiet as everyone else gathered.

“Awwww I knew I should have gotten drunk too!” Axel moaned coming into the room. He crackled his neck as he trounced in and smacked Demyx on his shoulder as he passed. Standing off to one side across from the three who were rising off the floor- stretching- what were they sleeping there for? He quirked a brow curiously but didn’t think to ask.

By the time the final stragglers came in Kyla had finished trying to wake herself up. She looked around the room, she noticed Maggie’s distant expression and how she stuck to the back of the room.
She tried to meet her eyes, and fi she could Kyla would try to give her a reassuring smile-mouthing something like –I’m alright ‘now.’- she gestured with a shake of her hand that talking would have to wait.
Once she could Kyla would tell her what happened- feeling bad she made her friend worry this long.

[ Noelle .:. Prote ~ Disney Castle ~ Hall of the Cornerstone]

Noelle sleuthed behind everyone to the place they were called to. Well, sleuthed as well as a drunk girl could. That last scotch really did her in. The angel on her shoulder was sticking its nose in the air and saying, "I told you so." The devil just continued to cackle, "DGAF."

It was so worth it.

But now it seemed like they had things to do. It was outrageous, the real party had just barely gotten started! At least the Scotsmen would be enjoying the rest of their night. They had a whole new drinking game to play, but the fun was over for the Earthlings.

The blonde agromancer spotted Kyle amongst her comrades and clumsily tiptoed nearer. Last she'd seen him he was down for the count after his dive, and she had been concerned for his well being. It was good to see him up and looking to be in good health. Noelle stood close to him quietly, trying at first not to be noticed. Whether or not she actually accomplished this would remain completely unknown to her. She was far too drunk to tell.

"Psst." She whispered through her teeth, actually surprisingly quiet for her intoxication level.

"Psssssssssst . . . Kyle." She continued, pausing briefly and snickering before teetering and leaning out of balance into Kyle. "Trust fall!"

[???? :: Disney Castle :: Hall of the Cornerstone]

The floating spectre watched the seal host, shaking his head at her drunken antics.. This girl was meant to restore the Earth? Goodness gracious this was going to be a difficult journey. He was going to need every ounce of patience he could muster in order to guid-...

What was she doing?

"Psst."
She couldn't.

"Psssssssssst . . . Kyle."
She wouldn't.

"Trust fall!"
Oh damn it all, she did.

In Noelle's head, the sound of an afterimage of an Earthling facepalming would echo in her head for just a moment before vanishing as quickly as it had appeared.

[ Kyle ; Yen Sid ; Merlin : Disney : Hall of the Cornerstone ]

"Hah," Kyle laughed, amused by the "excavation" remark. "Yes to both. Short of it is that we'll be putting an end to the Louis issue one way or--hmm?"

Kyle was interrupted as Noelle started playfully hissing to get his attention. By the time he turned toward her, she was in the middle of announcing her intentions--and Kyle panicked. His first instinct, besides a small yelp of surprise, was to dodge out of the way--but when the words registered, he had to counteract. The next instinct, as he pushed against his initial momentum in order to catch her, was to slow down her fall--literally. As his hands went out to grab her and brace her fall, a small, purple spark appeared between them, and her body visibly slowed down--enough for him to easily catch her.

"Eesh," he said, making sure she was back up right, laughing nervously. "Someone's lightened up. Had a bit to drink?"

[ A short while later ]

Though Maggie caught her friend's message, the concern on her face didn't vanish; she seemed unconvinced. In fact, she began to scan the room, only stopping when she spotted Riku--but before she could act, Yen Sid cleared his throat, bringing silence over the room.

"Good evening, everyone. Thank you for coming on such short notice, and so late in the evening," the wizard spoke, scanning over the hall. "We had not intended to set you out again so soon; however, the situation requires a specific touch."

Aslan spoke up next. "My people are reporting a strange occurrence in the region surrounding the White Witch's Castle. A field of dark magic grows from it, consuming the land, river, and sky, to be claimed as its dark domain," the great lion said, his tone grave. "Because of this, I have no power over the region... and none who pass into it have returned to speak of the other side. Worse still, the field grows at an alarming rate. If left unchecked, it could consume all of Narnia before sunset tomorrow, and then simply move into the worlds beyond."

"Our scouts have relayed that the magic itself is not destructive. What enters the field continues to exist, but remains outside of our perception. We may be able to establish some preventative measures, but to stop this, we must reach the source, which lies within," he explained. "The original plan was to send a different squadron in order to deal with the issue, but due to new information from Kyle, we believe our best chance would be you."

Kyle had been listening attentively, and when Aslan looked to him, he simply made eye contact and waited. A couple seconds of silence later, though it clicked.

"Oh! Uh, wait, um," the dragoon said, bugging somewhat as he was unexpectedly put on the spot. "Right, okay, what I found out."

"Okay, so, step one, arm's fixed," he said, raising his left arm high for all to see, the markings of Seymour's deal completely gone, before putting it back down.

"Step two, in the process, I got access to Ajora's memories, up until shortly before he was possessed in Atlantis," he continued. "True, it could all be potentially false, but considering he planted them as a back-up in case he died and I was re-replicated, I imagine they're pretty accurate."

"Through those memories, I found out the source of the field--or at least the likely source. Louis," he explained, scanning the others for reactions. "He's definitely in there. Whether or not he's causing it, I don't know--but at the very least, anyone who goes in that area will have to deal with him. And considering the general consensus was to at least try to help him before assuming the worst, that means it's not fair to send anyone else in."

"Making matters worse, if these memories are accurate, his summon Mateus has done a number on his mind and memories. It could very well be the reason for his descent into darkness. Considering this, we have already gone through to ensure that the three of us affected by him--Bobbi, Kyla, and myself--have been cleansed of any dark connection," he continued. "What they said in the hangar was right: the... shards of Louis that he placed inside us had some light in them. If these really are pieces of his heart, then there may be some way to restore them and fix what damage Mateus has done. If not... well, he must be stopped, one way or another. Tonight."

"I've already spoken to Yen Sid and Aslan. They understand if some of you do not wish to come. It's late, we have been at this non-stop for a week, and Louis isn't really everyone's problem," he said, nodding to reassure them. "I understand if you don't want to come. But if you're willing, we leave now."

"Some things to note: first, in case it's not already public knowledge, Joe--er, older Joe--has stepped up. Unless someone has a reasonable issue, he is taking point as leader. He gets the last word on all team decisions. If you have any issue with that, voice it now or stay behind," the dragoon went on. "Second, while we're there, Louis may try to tempt you. It's how he first got Bobbi, Kyla, and I--a voice in the shadows. Obviously, standing here now, all of us can say we'd never accept any such aid. But he does not show up at random. He appears when you are closest to failure... or death. When you are desperate. And if you accept, he will work his way into your heart and ensnare himself so tightly that removing him will damage your heart... critically. He may have been seeking to aid us before, in his own twisted way, but now we are very likely marching against him. I doubt he'll be so helpful. Keep that in mind."

"Any questions?"

Joe : Disney : Hall of the Cornerstone

'Christ, that girl cannot hold her liquor.'
Joe thought as Noelle interrupted the two of them. Either that or she had just gotten completely hammered. He hadn't really been paying attention to how much she had been drinking so it was more or less a coin toss.

'What is the other one doing?'
Atomos said...nervously...

'Catching her, what else?'

'Not that boy. He did something to her, something I don't trust. Be wary, such trickery could be the knife that ends your fragile life.'

'I'll keep that in mind Machiavelli. Now hush up so I can get briefed.'

So it was clear that the mysterious Louis was behind this and was being driven up the wall by his summon. Wonderful. He hasn't even spent half a day with these people and it was already time for a moral quagmire.

That being said, he had some questions off the top of his head. And since no one else was speaking up...

"Yeah, I've got two to start."
Joe said, raising up his hand in case anyone needed a reminder of who he was. Which was probably most of them.

"First off, we know Louis is in there for sure, but do we have any idea about who or what else may be with him? If this thing is coming out of Narnia so quickly it could cover the entire land in a day, the other factions are either involved or will find out soon, so there's that."

"Secondly, I know some of you have prior experience with him, so what exactly is he capable of besides the whole Faustian hallucination thing? If he has Mateus, I'm guessing he's ice elemental, but what else has he got?"
