Maia led Toby downstairs and into the kitchen. She opened a cupboard. "Preference on tea?" She asked. She took out a bag of honey chamomile for herself.

"Mm... that," he said, pointing to the box Maia found. he looped his arms around her neck and sleepily kissed her head. He didn't usually like chamomile, but the honey helped and it was damn hard to find nicely-priced floral teas anywhere. Lavender would be nice. Or maybe he should take a drink? He looked out in the direction of the liquor cabinet and then resolved that tea would be better. Booze would knock him out, but if Maia was still awake, what was the use? She wouldn't let him sleep, by no fault of her own. So tea it was.
"Are you excited?"

Maia smiled at him, taking out a second teabag. She turned to look for a pan to boil water in, pausing to kiss his cheek.
"I don't think 'excited' covers it," she said, happily. Excited had been learning new things, going to new places. This was so much more than that. How did she express how happy she was?

"Just get the water fro the Keurig," Toby suggested, pointing to the little machine. If you didn't put a pod in, it was just straight hot water. Then they could get to tea-drinking faster. When his hand returned, he reached down to touch and admire the ring now on Maia's finger. "No?"

Oh. Right, Maia had forgotten that handy machine. She went over to it and turned it on. She looked to him and smiled. "No," she said. "What's a word for 'extremely excited?'"

Toby shrugged. "Ask Dari. He's the walking thesaurus. All I can think is 'flabbergasted' and I know that's not right." He released her to go get the machine, of course, and then came after her to plop in their tea bags.
"I'm glad you're excited. I am too." One arm snaked around her again. "Shall we?" To the dining table or the living room or even the bedroom, he didn't care.

"Dari's busy," Maia smiled and shook her head. Maybe she'd find an online dictionary later. She smiled at him. "How could I not be?" She asked. She kissed his cheek.
She glanced towards the living room.

The pair headed for the living room, Toby's arm around his love, and he shrugged. He was glad she was excited, let there be no confusion, but he'd been worrying about this for far too long.
"Every guy worries she'll say 'no.'"

Maia leaned her head against Toby's shoulder and stroked his hair. "Were you worried?" she asked.

Toby nodded. "Of course I was. We'd never talked about it before and it was right after a very stressful time, I just-- every excuse my brain could come up with why you might say 'no' was shared with me in about an hour's time."

"You did surprise me," Maia said, kissing his cheek."I never expected it. But," she added, "I don't know anyone who makes me as happy as you do, love." She hesitated, and then added, "Lets avoid those tie clips though, huh?"

Toby smiled and stroked Maia's hair, then laughed.
"I've already got some stainless steel coming in on the Bureau's dime. It's the least they could do," he said, and then turned his attention to his tea and dipped the bag a couple times. 'Are you going to want an engagement party?" He turned back up to Maia, still smiling.

"Good." the fact that they'd outfitted a werewolf with anything silver still upset her. She took a sip of her tea to test the strength. "An engagement party?" she echoed.

Once again Toby shrugged. "I hear it's a thing. I'm more versed with bridal showers and bachelor parties and stuff. It could be an excuse for cake, though, and we could surprise Luca and Lori with their own." He half-grinned.
"Elfin bastards beat me by no time at all."

"Bridal showers?" Maia asked. She wasn't knowledgeable about much relating to weddings. At least, at five am she could piece together that that brides were supposed to wear white. And there was cake.
"Oh, a double party?" Two cakes! She was sure Lori would appreciate that, at least. "Who should we invite?"
