Jaeger_Ayers Richard Rider Jaeger_Ayers *Stomps back in, grumbling* Razzmefrazzumrockbloodygoatrapinwind can'tbelieveilandedincactuspatch stressed Feelin' a little hostile there, Sin-Eater?You get blasted thirty miles by a gust of wind and then spend a the better part of an hour pulling small needles out of your hide, then we'll check your disposition. Thor tried to kill me once. You know, the Norse god of thunder? Yeah, that was quite a day.

(Sorry about that. I came to Panera to avoid the distraction that is Kingdom Hearts 2, but they kept bugging me about coming in to work. Luckily, I can say "No" out loud in eight different languages.)
Ironically enough, I wanted to ask you about this "Sin-Eater" business. What exactly is that? A purging ritual, I'd imagine, but just what gets purged?

I was just telling Virgil a bit about it. See when I was a kid I was living with my mother's tribe, the Ascians. This old man got accused of property damage and the punishment was flogging. Ascians are big on physical penalties. Well, the fella in question was three days older than God, wandering in his wits, and the council didn't want to beat him. I volunteered to take the punishment, and once you volunteer, that's it. No one eats for a sin eater.

So a Sin-Eater is, for all intents and purposes, a stand-in for the accused?

You got it. According to custom, I don't have soul. It's just an empty space for all the sins to be dumped into. Sin eater is shunned, no girl would marry one, but also revered for their sacrifice. Like I said, no one eats for a sin eater.

All right then, thank you. You've been a great help.

You'll find that not every girl follows the customs. Kitty's got herself quite a catch, if you ask me. wink

Jaeger_Ayers Doctor Harleen Quinzell So it's a nastier version of the blind Night Elves, then? I don't follow. confused They exile themselves from the rest of their society to hunt and kill evil, becoming outcasts who are generally reviled IIRC.
