@jennivieve : in part due to lack of predators (not enough cats!) and in larger part due to irresponsible missionaries scattering animals and diseases all over the Pacific.
Where I am now, there the only chicken problem in the area is that one neighbor with the infestation. He blames the mango tree, but no. His house and yard are filthy and throughly infested with chickens. I blame his crack problem
Have you seen Guam? The chickens there..omg it's horrible. People will hit a chicken on the road while driving, stop and take it home for dinner. They are everywhere. The roving packs of vicious dogs were pretty scary. People would lock their children indoors when the pack was about.
