Van Evok Dante Silas God I hate choosing a new army -well, some choose by the tactics employed by army, close combat junkies love nids and orks, while born snipers like Tau and IG ninja pirate -others will choose by the look of the minis heart -many decide by the power ranking of the army cheese_whine -if all else fails roll a dice to decide rofl If it does come down to shooty stuff, then it would be Imperial Guard. Having a squadron of Valkyrie to deploy veterans. Close Combat would go to the Nids, I intend to field six carnifexes for standard games, Apocalypse and Spearehead. Look of the minis, I'm looking at Red Scorpions through Forge World using the standard Space Marine Codex. I've narrowed it down to some extent, now all I have to do is finish choosing.

It might help to put up a budget when choosing and see how far you can go with it.

Well I have a budget in mind. I'm going to be building up the army in time for the Winter Throne of Skulls Tournament so I'd be buying the army in chunks. If I do Red Scorpions, i'd be ordering a fair few things from Forge World, especially the Shoulder Pads.

Red Scorpions have their own special rules found in Imperial Armour 9 it is now I think. They get a bloody revision every time they show up. Though you could always play them as the straight arrow codex Chapter.
I'll check what IA9 has to say about them.
Well, no more super-custom rules unless you take commander Culln, who allows you to drop Chapter Tactics for the ability to swap squad sergeants for Apothecaries at no extra cost.

Well I'd like to use the rules based in IA 9, but this is going to be used for a Throne of Skulls tournament so i'm keeping to the standard codex based chapter.
The new rules for Culln are no different from that of IA 4, only in the Anphelion Project, you didn't need Culln to field Apothecaries, just use the traits and divergance system.

Got Darth Vader sourcebook and Space Hulk card game myself. Osprey has a new publishing arm (several in fact, one does 28mm historical and skirmish rules!) called "Dark Osprey Publishing" which does the odd stuff, but treats it like any other serious Osprey production. Good stuff so far, delving into the many zombie types, talking about hunting zombies and other dos and donts. Please do tell how the Space Hulk cardgame goes, I've been hearing a lot about it, but opinions seem severely split on it.
