Toby was right, it could be fun. "Maybe we can bribe Seamus into being the ring bearer. I bet he'd come if we told him cake would be there." she said. It was usually one of the couples' families that planned the wedding, wasn't it? Neither of them had any--well, no. They shared the same family. The folks at HQ had become family; Lori, Dari, and more recently, Michael.
Maia leaned over and kissed him. "It will," She agreed.

"Oh, he loves you. I'm sure he'd do it anyway, but the cake would help," Toby said with a laugh. He snuggled up close and gave Maia a squeeze. God, he was engaged. Really, truly. They had forever. It would be forever.

Maia smiled. "Cake always helps," she said. It certainly tended to make Seamus happy. She nestled against him. "I love you," She echoed.

Dari sat cross-legged on the ground. He took a bite of his s'more and made a happy humming sound. he rocked back with a smile and then came back into place. He had a string of marshmallow in the corner of his mouth.
"H'muh--" Better wait for that. He chewed, smiled. "I'm not at good at this as you."

"I have more experience is all," Cody said and leaned forward to kiss Dari's mouth. He nuzzled Dari's cheek and grinned. He offered Dari another toasted marshmallow.

Dari laughed through his nose and returned the kiss. Only then did he notice the stick residue and thumb off what was left. He scrunched his nose at the cheek kiss and ate this toasted marshmallow alone. The warmth was pleasant.
"So how does it feel to be a devious criminal?"

"I was always a devious criminal," Cody said, shaking his head and grinning at Dari. "I'm a pirate, and I've stolen your heart." He toasted himself a marshmallow, getting sticky white residue on his fingers as he stuffed it into his mouth.
"What about you, mister law enforcement?"

"I knew it since the moment I met you," Dari said, tilting his chin up, "assaulting a federal agent like you did, with hot coffee." He grinned and took one of Cody's hands between both of his own. "Eh. My job doesn't really concern squatters, and nobody's going to police a mountain. Besides, Toby's breaking the law too. We're terrible Feds."

Cody grinned. He was still embarrassed that their first meeting had turned out that way. "I'm not worried," He said. "Besides, we have the best alibi ever. Say you're looking for something important to the government. A stake out!"

Dari snickered. It was true. If he said as such, the FBI would need to back him up lest something awful be exposed. He wouldn't expose anything, of course, but the looks on their faces would be pretty fantastic.

Cody was surprised by the thanks, and looped an arm loosely around Dari's waist. "For what, love?"

"For this. I needed this." He nodded and looked to Cody with something honest and serious in his eyes. "So thank you." He leaned over and kissed Cody on the jaw.

Cody wrapped his arms around Dari and held him tightly. "I did promise," He said. "I said when you got back we'd go camping here." He looked around and smiled. "We should always camp here."

"I do know you're good on your promises," Dari said, and then he leaned back in Cody's lap and looked up at the sky. He'd seen such horror and felt such grief, and supported so many less obviously stable than he... he'd needed this. Maybe even a little pampering, but this was definitely enough to serve its purpose.
He heaved a pleased sigh and let it out while he reached up to touch Cody's jaw.
"You're beautiful."

Cody began tracing designs into Dari's hair; trailing a finger down to his jawline. He'd worried about Dari. Every day that he was gone, worried that their goodbyes would be the last time he'd see the man he loved so much.
"You're perfect." He smiled at him.
