Eh, I think I already caught on to it, but forgive me, I couldn't help having Medium throw the attention factor out there; what does a guy do when he has to pick between his love or his sister? And will that spark jealousy in either girl?

So far Mass Effect is by far one of the best RPGs I have played. Fun, difficult, your actions effect your other characters and how they you. The skills are useful and not needlessly flashy with minimal effects, like Bahamut. Nothing better than having a dragon fire a laser beam down to a planet causing a continent wide explosion and then the environment has absolutely no damage and the enemies are still standing, and so are you. In Mass Effect you have skills that are actually useful strategically. Like say, grabbing the enemies cover and killing them with. Or trapping the only way to get to the cover. Or having a static biotic field that does constant damage while the enemy, or you, are standing in it's effect area. Or how about being able to put your enemy in a stasis field where their frozen in place? All your skills become even more useful the more you put your level up points into them.

The weapons may not change much visually, aside from color, but you get some pretty neat stuff. Say you have your assault rifle, you find an upgrade pack that contains a weapon upgrade and an ammunition upgrade. The weapon upgrades range from combat sensors to allow finding cloaked enemies, to things that do more damage, reduce heat, or make them more accurate. As for ammunition upgrades, you get your standard rounds, chemical rounds(they obviously poison enemies), radioactive rounds(slow weapon cooling and increases the skill cooling time), anti personnel rounds(each level does an increasing percent of damage to organics), incendiary, armor piercing(same as anti personnel, except for synthetics), shield piercing rounds, etc. Your grenades and armor are upgradeable as well. When you level up you can make your skill with weapons increase as well. They do more damage and have increased accuracy the more you level them.

The only menus you have to deal with are those in the pause menu. That's where you allocate your skill points from level ups, look at your journal, change equipment, etc. They're very easy to understand and navigate.

Combat, as hinted to before, is all real time. You have to make use of cover, which can be a b***h sometimes, or I guarantee you will die. Other than that, it's easy to get the hang of. The boss fights are ******** crazily difficult. this is a game where you don't jump in on the highest difficulty. I actually had to lower the difficulty from normal during one of the boss fights because the boss fight was full of biotics who were slaughtering me with my cover less than 10 seconds into the battle.

The classes are all balanced well. But it can be a drag when you're like me and want to pick up everything in the game. I chose the Soldier class, and I can't get into anything with an above average locking device and can't use electronics period. So instead of a straight out, full bore, specialization class, I recommend a mix.

Cat. You were talking about how you wish DQ4 would be released in the US right? Well it will probably be hitting the US on the DS sometime in the future.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 24, 2007 7:45 pm

That's cool, but DQ4 is on PSX, I was hoping to see DQ 5 & 6 added, possibly on DS(Now just to get one) It would have been nice if DWM 3 would have come out in the US for GBA(The newest one is actually DWM4)

And what Bahamut are you referring to that does that kind of largescale explosion? Though I do find it pretty weak that in most games(Not just RPGs) super massive attacks go off yet stuff is seemingly unharmed. Conker's Bad Fur day made that fun, I liked how in the Matrix spoof, your shots as well as the enemy shots would blow chunks out of the walls and the columns you ahd to hide behind. It was also funny that if you get shot in the head it meant instant death. But myf avorite still is....THE GIANT s**t-SLICERS OF DOOM!!!!(The deadly rotating blades of the Mighty Poo King's Giant Toilet Tunnel)

Oh Conker, how you have made my world so much fun. In all actuality, they weren't making fun of it. That's actually what would happen when if a concrete or plaster wall was constantly being shot at.

Which is another reason why I can't wait from the new Battlefield game to come out. You can literally carve your own path through the battlefield not use a preset one. Everything in the game is destructible, which more games need to start doing.

Oh and I got DQM Joker today for my birthday, which was on Wednesday. I don't think I got much of a chance to post that day.

Damn, now I wish I had moneys to get a DS. And Ryu, I am guessing Kyosuke will find some way to show up in the middle of and spoil the rape & kill party Kaguya wants to have with Tengu. and damn, I know I get carried away sometimes and end up GMing, but jeez, Travis, you went a little overboard don'tcha think? Medium would never be owned like that, because aruko's attack basically was targetting Xiaedessa, and not her. That is one of the benefits Medium gets from her host, the fact that she cannot be targeted or destroyed. Any attacks on her, bodywise or other, would only really be targeting the host, so Haruko's soul draining was only really draining Xiaedessa's soul masked as the enemy. Which is what Medium wants, so suppose it isn't so bad. But must you have them be everywhere all the time and always save everything? The Twin's goody-goodyness makes me waanna throw up, in a good entertaining way of course. Just like Xiaeriene's Emo Bitchiness. lol, it's like a soap opera full of ******** up characters, except with fun added. And as for the reverting the blown up areas, you can't revert lost lives, so anyone that was killed would still be dead, though the injured could be ********, I heard that song once on W&J Morning radio show when I was 10 years old, I have wanted to find it since but I could never do so, I didn't know it was Dennis Leary. Lol, I remember it well, cuz as soon as that song ended, they played Adam Sandler's Piece of s**t Car, another song that makes me laugh.

What was the name of the chick working for Satsu again?

Yeah, I probobly did. But it's the only way to get things done without your charecters dominating every facet of everything. The twins are supposed to be super good, they are the highest moral point for all of the others. They are also Creatures of Legend. The Eldar Counsil spent a thousand years scheming and manipulating for this result. The ultimate force for good. Much like your elder evils, they are on the level of elder goods. Thus it is impossible for the Medium to beat them so easily.

Now for the reveal: Haru was not there to begin with. Hikaru created an all pervasive illusion, forcing anyone watching, including the medium, to see, hear, and smell him there. THen the medium flashed her eyes, the power she used was a small opening in the sheild, in that moment, Hikaru dropped a single layer of the thing for a nano second, which allowed Haru to port in.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:03 am

See, that is what I figured, a diversionary tactic to allow her to get him in there once there was an opening due to the distraction. But I figured I was probably wrong. And no Medium won't beat either twin at all, no easily about it, because Xiaedessa will not let her. I plan on doing something with that line a later battle between her and Hikaru if you'll allow it to not have Haruko involved. And dominating is not an option, currently Asuka Ziler and the Twins are the most powerful of the pillars. Xiaeriene is actually the weakest(Go figure). The Twins are also both much faster than Xiaedessa, and they also have a higher endurance. She can read their moves, but she still has to defend against them. Knowing does not neccessarily guarantee besting. But the way Medium is, and she was like this in Silent Mobius on a slightly lesser degree, she enjoys ******** with the people that are affected by their connection to her host. I didn't plan on her beign there for long, I just needed a way to give Dina a reason to be able to contact them, as well as introducing Sir Agamemnon and Revealing that Mistress Kaguya is the key element to freeing Xiaedessa from the Medium's grasp. That and I plan on having Cam get more comfortable around Hikaru, to keep the blood of the beast from coming to a boil.

One quick thing about Agamemnon, he is actually a nice guy, he just happens to be working for the enemy. I won't spoil the reasons why, but they are noble reasons, all I'll say is he can relate to one of Batman's enemies

I would say the largest threat to Kaguya and Tengu is Taki. Her magic tears her enemies apart.

Pom is Satsujin-ken's partner machine.

Sorry then, I meant Junko Sato, the one who you had cozy up with friendliness to Shizue and Cam during music class. Or was that actually just Pom under another name?

If her Magic tears her enemies apart, then Kaguya would enjoy that, as it would only make more doppels of her. And if those doppels are torn apart, then they will multiply as well. And if Taki is such a deadly threat, how did Tengu manage to overpower her before(Well, I figure Kyoshiro's death played a role in it, but she doesn't strike me as the type to easily be overcome during a scene like that)
PostPosted: Sun Nov 25, 2007 7:08 pm

No, I mean full body. Not parts. If I remember, her heart is her weakness. In which case there would be a one hit kill. Her magic is a full body projection which means if Kaguya is in front of her, and she uses it Kaguya has just been turned to mulch. Bones, organs, and flesh get shredded. She can cast it in any direction she feels she needs to, and it's all internal incantation. So there's no warning from it. It has a base strength at point black, but gets stronger as it goes further since it's an air element strike.

Ah, I just finished reading the 57 available pages from before we were a guild, and I must say, Vain has gotten infinitely better.
