so I was working on homework last night and decided to take a brake and open up Firefox when all of a sudden my virus protection program starts yelling at me that a threat has been detected. I stop everything I'm doing and run a scan, it comes up with a few nasty files, I quarantine them, delete them, then select to restart my computer so I can finish my homework [which was due today].
Guess what?
It refuses to boot up.
:/ so I had nothing to turn in today, and I still can't access my computer at all.. I've tried using the Windows XP Installation CD to repair my OS, but it only gives me the option to completely reformat my computer, not repair it. I'm so depressed right now... if I end up having to do a clean install I'll be losing so much data. I had just downloaded a demo version of FL Studio so there's at least 3 song projects I was working on, plus all the art that I've started and never go the chance to finish [KD's and Skotti's avi art well as the group pic, other requests from different sites, homework and some personal work] ...and there's tons of music that I never got the chance to copy because my MP3 isn't large enough to hold it all.
so I'm totally freaked out, stressing, and spiraling into depression..
I'm taking my computer to be looked at tomorrow, see if maybe a professional can manage to get things running, but I'm pretty pessimistic at this point.

Did you at least check what files were infected before deleting them? But go take the computer in tomorrow and see if they can back up your files.
If the tech guys want to wipe the whole drive out and not back up your HD, and you're desperate for the files....
When I fried Vista (forgot to parition the drive within Windows) and put Linux along side it, I was able to mount my fried drive and back up whatever files I needed on a USB stick. Then I just said '******** it' and wiped the drive to just have Linux on it, and put the files back in their proper places. This probably won't work for you if you use specific paid-for programs to do your work with, but I'd say it's worth a shot if you have a spare computer to burn the install disc on; I can help with installation if need be.

Hi, guys. :3 I miss you so much! (I also miss my old band teacher who didn't mind when we pulled out our electronics. crying ) I posted in the "Where Have You Been?" thread, but basically Senior year is busy. When things settle down, hopefully I will find a chance to be on more often.
For those of you who do pray, please keep my grandma and uncle in your prayers. They've been having health issues lately. Thanks.

So my family and I drove out to see our aunt, so we could barbecue and go over to a water park. It was a 3 hour drive. Well, guess what? The water park announced its closure for the WHOLE DAMN SEASON as soon as we stepped in. Now I get to sit here and rot for the whole day doing nothing, and then wasting another 3 hours coming back home. I hate this.

@ Everyone: Lately for me things have been perfect. Only downside is that I'm working Thursday. Guess what Thursday is? ;D [HintHint]
The bright side is, I have off next week from babysitting my cousins, and I have off the day of my Anniversary with Amanda! Which is AWESOME because that means she can open her surprise! I gave her a ring, and I did up some artwork for her! I'm so happy!
So, how is everyone else? biggrin

k'llHow is Everyone Doing?: so ******** burnt out, between work at school, I am doing 15 hour days some times. Not to mention that i don't get ******** paid enough to do this job, so, bottom line, I need a new job.
school is going ok, it's just my schedule is effed up until 3 weeks from now.
Ember has started walking, and its great! even though she likes to walk near the stairs and give me a heart attack.

About work: ._. WOW! You can't ask for a raise at all? That's messed up, what they're doing.
About school: I've heard of that happening to some of my other friends. What was messed up?

Work: I just got a raise, up to 8 bucks an hour, but that does not help alot when my hours are cut because of school.
I just talked with somebody to change my school schedule to work for me so, fingers crossed!

@Waffle: I honestly don't remember any file names, I just noticed that it labeled things as Trojans.
@my computer: so I got a call Tuesday at lunch saying that they finished doing the diagnostic, I could hear too well, so I had to go back on Thursday. They told me that Windows is completely corrupted, and that they weren't sure if it was due to a virus, or that fact that my motherboard is practically fried. When I asked how my motherboard could have been fried, he told me either from overheating, or power surges. And, with all the storms in the past month (and the fact that my parents use my computer when I'm not home even with a thunderstorm going on) I really think that's why it's so damaged. Overall they told me it'll cost me $300 to get a new motherboard, have them replace it, extract my existing files, and reinstall windows. Basically, it would be more cost effective for me to get a new computer.
@where I've been: so, along with school and my computer being out, Foxi and I got in a car accident Tuesday after school. Her poor car got sandwiched between two big trucks and it's toast. We're fine... really sick of the bad luck streak, but fine.. -x- Fsh kay well I'll see you guys around maybe... assuming the world doesn't go all Final Destination on my a** in the next week.

I'm sorry things feel like it's getting worse, but there is a bright side: Sometimes things seem bad now, but soon (sometimes sooner than you think) things will start looking up.
