Nadya was growing more and more uneasy, and she rubbed her arms to try to rub some warmth back in them. It wasn't that she was physically cold, but there was something about this place ... it haunted her, froze her from the inside out.

Worst of all, it was clouding her mind, blocking her Sight, and that frightened her. She was so used to it being so clear that she had never realized exactly how much she depended on it. She wanted to move away from this place, this shrine, this altar, this ...

She wanted Gion. She looked up at him, way up on top of the boulder, her brown eyes filled with fear for the second time in her life. She hated this place already, and they hadn't been there ten minutes.

"Ah! Thank you," Lin smiled as she took the tiny cup so she could drink.

This was much better and less chance of spillage she thought happily. When she had drunk her filled she looked up at Valdemar curiously.

"So you have to teach... Earendil later?" she asked, since he did say something about lessons, it reminded her he forgot to get her this morning, "Where is Earendil?"

It's okay, it can't be helped.

Daemon reassured him as he chuckled a bit himself Gion's comment about Donovan. Yes well even assissins had their supersititious side, their job was dangerous after all.

There are many type of spirits in the world, at any rate we might be able to use the landscape to our advantage, I can't imagine the people we're looking for any more comfortable here than we are.

"Are you going to be okay?" Triton asked Nadya.

Even though he found this place just to be as forebodning as everyone else, Triton wasn't as bothered by the idea of ghosts and such. Then again, he had seen possessed dolls and faced some freaky things, so he was probably a bit desensitized to it.

It didn't mean the land bothered him any less, but it wasn't like he had a feeling that something was going to jump out and grab him.

"Indeed, yes," Sir Valdemar nodded. "Yes, it's history, geography and diplomacy today. As for right now, he's up on the mountaintop, training with his uncle ... he's getting quite good, I'm told, though he still has a lot of work to do to catch up with his brother."

He nodded thoughtfully to himself. Earendil was a quick learner, but he was more an academic than a fighter. In many ways, the young prince reminded Sir Valdemar of himself.

You never know, Gion replied dryly. If they're bad enough to do what they are to my mother, and their base is up here somewhere, you never know. And if it's the dwarfs ...

He trailed off. He hadn't thought of that possibility before. If it was the dwarfs who were behind it, then it made perfect sense that they would be up here. After all, dwarfs were less mortal than humans, and had a lifespan of up to approximately 500 years. And the few dwarfs that were left were forced to live up here, whether they liked it or not. Not to mention, a shrine like this ... was most likely to be their work.

Nadya turned at the sound of Triton's voice and looked at him thoughtfully. She wasn't sure how to respond. Physically, yes, she was fine. Mentally, perhaps less so. Emotionally, she was not.

"Seeing this place," she replied finally in a soft, hesitant voice, "in my head ... knowing that we had to come here ... it's different from actually being here. My visions ... I see them all, but I never realized before how little they actually show me. Events, yes, places, people, important things ... but ... not to know what to expect ..."

She hesitated again and rubbed her arms. "I've never traveled before," she murmured, lowering her eyes self-consciously. "I've never left the plantation before, not since I was an infant. I had no idea ..."

She was growing more and more uncomfortable, colder, more uneasy.

"I want to go up there, but Earendil says it's a long climb up," Lin looked at her cup, "But I want to know where it is so I can try anyways. You don't get anywhere without trying at least once."

Well that and she was stubborn, like her father, which was scary because she was in no way related in blood to him. It didn't remove the fact she was still as stubborn.

Yue looked up at the sky, he might feel better with the moon out but that would be hours away, they might as well get moving before anyone got nervous. Though Mia seemed to be fine, if being semi comtose looking by just staring like a doll was fine. He got to his feet and looked towards Gion to tell him that he would be ready to go.

"That it would be like this?" Triton replied softly, "Ah..." he blinked realizing that they were still dressed for the desert, "Did you... bring warmer clothes?"

He wasn't sure, he was sure she would have never needed it before.

Donovan came back, dressed much more suitably in his black pants, his white dress shirt and of course his trademark long black trench coat which was keeping him comfortably warm as well as holding many more things he couldn't have wearing those stupid whites.

People are not meant to live here.. no matter who they are or for how long... there will always been that fear.

Daemon replied with certainity.

At any rate, speaking of fear, how about seeing to Nadya, we're up north and though I can't feel a thing, I'm sure it's still as cool as ever and it's creepy here and for a first time traveller I would have chosen somewhere more pleasant...

"And the prince is absolutely correct," Sir Valdemar nodded shortly, rising from his seat and holding his hands out to Lin once more. "Also, it is no place for a child of any size, let alone one as small as you. Come," he smiled, changing the subject. "Let's go to the library, I'm certain you will find things there that will please you. I can show you what this world was once like, for it is nothing now like what it originally was meant to be."

Yes, Gion nodded inwardly, taking another look around to make sure that they were still alone. His expression was one of deep chagrin as he climbled down from the rock. I'm an idiot ... I should have realized ...

He hit the ground and reached for his bag, and removed a long spidersilk cloak from it. He shook it out once and brought it over to Nadya, his eyes apologetic and caring. He himself was still dressed only for the desert, but he was used to different weathers and while the mist bothered him, he could only imagine how bad it must be to everyone else.

Nadya accepted the cloak gratefully from Gion, and as she slung it around her shoulders she felt some of the cold leaving her body immediately. "Thank you," she murmured, pulling the cowl over her head and effectively hiding herself from the weather completely. She tied it nimbly and pulled it close around herself, and she was nearly invisible in the mist now, even to those who were near her. All that was visible was the lower part of her face, and only because it was tanned so dark.

She offered Triton a faint smile, thankful for his concern. "Thank you," she murmured, "I'll be fine."

Eventually.

She cast her gaze over everyone, making sure they were all ready to travel. Yue looked a little worse for wear, but apparently he was ready to move on. She clasped her hands in front of herself and lowered her head, now vanishing nearly completely, only her silhouette barely visible against the mist. She closed her eyes and reached for the vision that she had tucked away in her memory, searching for the direction that would lead them to the men who were targeting the Lady Serenity.

"Okay..." Lin replied climbing back in thought a bit grungingly she still wanted to try, she was just like that.

Size was never an issue for her, at least not when it came to something she wanted to try. She... wanted to see what was at the top of the mountain.

Yue smiled soft at the Gion and Nayda, he would be happy when this was over so he could go home, and knowing that some people can visit their loved ones if they wanted to. Though now he thought, to the task at hand, he wondered why again they didn't bring Yuki. He recalled then he asked Yuki to look after the children, and Yukito would mainly be relying on his sight to be helpful.
