"All clear?" Marco asked two hours later from the bushes. "Are they asleep?"
"Yes...." Lyserg said softly. "All of them, even Faust."
"You're doing the X-Laws a great service, you know," Marco said. "You will be honored."
"Yeah... great..." Lyserg said unenthusiastically. "You're not killing them now, right?"
"No. But there's an X-Law in each of their rooms, poised with tranquilizer darts. They only await my command, and then..." Marco laughed evilly.

Marco slapped Lyserg hard acoss the face, aiming his gun at Netsubo. "One move, and Hao and Faust get strangled in their sleep," he warned. "Do as we say, and we'll just knock them out for a few hours."

"Good girl," Marco said. Two X-Laws entered the kitchen, carrying Faust and Hao, both of whom were unconscious. There were needles in their necks; Lyserg looked away guiltily.
