Okay, this was going to be extremely interesting, whether either of them liked it or not. This also meant he was going to have to round up eighteen anthros interested in playing. Couldn't be that hard, right? "What should we call the teams?" he asked off-handedly, having dragged Roman into the planning stages completely unawares.

"And I'm Madison Square Garden, Sorcerer of the Deep. Nice to meet you," he responded, all theatrics before... "Well, to be honest I'd heard tell of a particularly hard few to please, particularly someone by the name of... what was it... 'How'? Something like that, I wouldn't know."

Glancing around, Roman found himself utterly at a loss as to what they were doing. "Ah... perhaps it would be better to let all the players decide once we find them...?" he suggested cautiously. Not that he minded spending time with Wolfe...

Asteil visibly sulked. "Oh. Him. He's busy. He went off to torment his brother again."

"Hm... good point. People like to choose what to call themselves, don't they?" he said, peering out towards the field, trying to get a measure for it from a ways off, wondering whether it had been... er... 'conjured'... to the advantage of some imaginary team.

It felt so much better to be here and not dreading here. He ought to get things out in the open more often.

Hm... Hit a soft spot, had he? Oops. "Maybe some other day--would you like to be my lovely assisstant when we come across our next vict--ahem--audience?" he grinned cheerfully, attempting to wash away all sour notes.

Roman followed Wolfe with a smile, actually enjoying time in the open air for once. He didn't need to speak, just to listen and watch Wolfe... that was more than enough-- to be near him...

Asteil blinked before grinning back. "Ok! Who do you wanna go see?"

Strangely enough, the field seemed to be... precise. Precisely average. Not built for anybody, just... built. Weird... But not so much that he minded. Stopping just short of the diamond's dirt, Wolfe stretched out his arms and fell backwards onto the grass with a contented sort of sigh, revelling in the lingering afternoon light fading down around them. "It's good to be out here without strobe lights."

Madison shrugged airily, "Wherever you think we might find some fun, friend Teil. We can do anything as long as there's two of us~"

Roman laughed softly as he sat down next to the boy. "You like feeling the sun again?" he asked, considering the grass and the entire bizarre situation.

Asteil laughed. "Well then... why don't we go see some of the Nestlings..?" he suggested before bounding off.

"Yeah. Kind of forgot about it for the most part, you know? Didn't bother thinking about it because there wasn't much of a point. Well... still thought about it sometimes, but not nearly as much as the mopers do."

Thought about it sometimes... the times when everyone he liked was human. Rare as those times were, they were the most poignant. "It's nice though. You like it too, don't you?"

"Lead the way," Madison held out a sweeping hand and followed the demon with a hop-step-twirl.

"I accepted it as part of what happened-- the loss of the sun," Roman shrugged slightly, remembering how all he thought was that finally the only golden light he could stand was Elias... and then that light faded away, leaving him alone in the darkness. "But... yes. I like it..."

Asteil smiled before considering where to head. Who would enjoy a little performance...?

Cordell would, probably... "Hey, wanna go entertain a little angel?" Teil suggested before bounding off in the direction of the lab.

Wolfe stared up at him from the ground, peering through the light, remembering that things really did look that much different in sun. "What have you been doing, Roman?" he asked finally, not really drawing a difference between doing 'here in this place' and 'in this past century' in his mind.

Better than the big angel, Madison thought bemusedly of Mordred. "Whatever you think is best, lovely assisstant~" he sang out by way of decision.

"Well... I suppose... let's see. I returned to France to find my Children dead," Roman started, finding himself having to pause to swallow hard at that statement. Too many images flashed through his mind-- their heads left in their rooms-- they hadn't met the sun. No, no... they'd been murdered.... "...so I dealt with that... as best as I could... before I sold the theatre and wandered for a few years. I traveled Europe before I ended up back in America... and then I began to travel again, wherever music, inspiration and whim took me. Then I ended up here-- found I was... changed... and bought a theatre," Roman shrugged slightly. "Yourself?"

"We'd better hope his Mate isn't around then... the little angel's pregnant, so his creepy mate hangs around a lot. C'mon~" Asteil grinned before flying fast towards the lab.

Wolfe stared in a sort of blank disbelief, blinking through the sunlight. That was... a lot to digest from a paragraph... "A... lot..." he said, voice carrying a sort of darkened wonder. Really, he was never, ever going to understand everything that went on inside Roman. There were currents of care that washed over themselves so deeply that they never could find respite. And the surface of the boiling you saw was always so deathly calm...

How could someone live like that without tearing themselves apart?

Madison continued to follow the demon in a contented quiet--not a silence. There are miles of difference between quiet and silence, one of these miles being that Madison didn't like silence.

Roman laughed softly, his voice just barely tinged with the years of loneliness and pain. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ramble like that-- it's just... you're the first person I told about what happened." And probably the last-- Elias would never have understood, which is why Roman had never confessed to him... and there was no one else Roman was comfortable enough with...

"Tell me what you've been doing?" he prompted Wolfe gently. "Please?" I don't want to think about my past now...

And down to the lab they went. "Oh, I should warn you--" Asteil grimaced slightly, "--don't touch anything. It's liable to bite, and not in the pleasant way," the demon warned Madison before calling out, "COR!!!"

"Come in...?" a soft voice trickled out from deeper inside the laboratory.

Which explained why it'd been so... hesitant, sparse. Anyone else he might've suggested to a good wall to scream at, but Roman... Roman drew inside himself, let all the bad things hurt inside for way too long. Screaming wasn't liable to help at this point--not that Roman knew how to really scream. Bet he didn't.

"There's... well, there's a lot," Wolfe shrugged from the grass, watching him closely. "I mean... I wouldn't know how to sum it up so quickly, you know?" But he couldn't leave it at that, not when Roman looked so... whatever.

"It's not really that interesting," to you, maybe, "I didn't really do any big things," outside of what Bram had in mind, "And I guess I didn't really... well... get involved in anything... outside America... except for two... maybe three, four times? Wasn't really that interesting outside of America either, just, you know, meeting people..."

And the biggest things seemed to have been happening recently anyway.

"Ah... I got ordained!" he ended brightly, grinning in a lop-sided manner.

Cor... Cor... Cordell. Whoop-de-doo.

New souls, new souls, new souls. God, they were so creepy! Besides, what he needed was a really old soul. Some way of getting back in contact with one, since he'd managed to screw up so royally. Madison edged into the lab with a cautious expression, peering around in slight curiosity to try and get the lay of the land.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 09, 2005 11:28 pm

"You got ordained?" Roman blinked, trying to get that through his head. "Who, how, why, and when?" he asked, his world spinning. "Are you even Catholic?" New York certainly hadn't given Roman that impression in the least.

Teil grinned as he pulled Maddy along until they came in view of a small angel, laying on a couch with his arms around his swollen stomach. "Hey, Cor~" the demon's grin widened. "Brought you someone who does magic~!"

User ImageCordell blinked before smiling slightly. "Ok," he gave Maddy a shy smile as well before turning. "Muraki-sama, we have visitors..."

"Born and raised Protestant!" Wolfe continued cheerily. "It's just all the Catholic ritual, you know? And I've always really, really liked Jesuits and stuff so when... ah... well... Yeah. I'm a priest," he raised his hands and took on a mock serious expression, "Will you receive the benediction, child?"

Seriously starting to rethink the grounds on which he claimed sanity, Madison posed for the benefit of his audience (Asteil included of course), and announced boldly, "The greatest wonders of the Universe shall flash before your eyes! Sit back, relax, request a sight that you have never seen and to you it shall be granted!"
