"Why should you be embarassed? You look amazing. I'll be the envy of every woman and gay man on this rock!"

Vasile gave a toothy grin, ears perking up when he saw Ambrose. "Hey Ambrose!" Vasile seemed very enthused to be out and flaunting, both himself and his date, and looked excited to see a familiar face.

He trounced over to Ambrose, motioning for Marlow to follow. Though he wouldn't admit out loud (to anyone other than Marlow), Vasile liked how damn good he looked in a dress.

Ambrose's tail wagged as he came up to the couple, pointedly reminding him how drafty the nightdress really was.

Raising a cup of smoking green punch to the couple Ambrose chuckled. "Vasile! Good to see you again! And I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one here in drag." He laughed, looking down at his old lady nightdress.

"But I must say... yours is.... ah... rather more flattering than my own. If I didn't know better, Vasile, I might have mistaken you for a rather flat-chested woman." He gave him a toothy grin.

"And Marlow... I haven't seen you in a while. How... have things been going for you?" He took in the rather alien features on the man's face. It had been a while since he had seen the man - before his change at the very least. And he couldn't quite place the features...

Marlow's tentacles twitched, a common reaction to any awkward moment. "Well. Very well." It seemed unfair to say 'all things considered' when his date was flouncing about the tent in a revealing, historically-accurate-to-an-unspeakable-degree can-can dancer's ensemble. Snailyness be damned, he was at this particular hour a lucky fellow. "You?"

Vasile puffed up his chest at Ambrose's compliment. "Well, at least the fur gives a bit of padding... thanks regardless.. I think." He smiled and flipped his feathers in his hair. "I mean, being convincing is a big compliment for an actor and all. At least that;s how I'm letting you get saying I look like a girl." Vasile winked and put his hand on Marlow's shoulder.

Ambrose gave a healthy laugh and raised his drink. "There we go, to good ... ahrm... acting then." He winked and tossed back the drink.

"And I am glad to hear that, Marlow. I've been... well enough, too. But seeing you together - that's great. If anything can get you by here, a strong relationship is it."

The wolf man glanced around awkwardly. "Speaking of... I would inroduce you to Angelina... but she appears to have wandered off." He finished sheepishly.

...that's right, it was supposed to be Halloween tonight, wasn't it? Anatoli had been cooped up in his duplex most of the night, practicing his trombone despite his teeth. Only until it struck past midnight did it really dawn on him, because he didn't care much to keep track of time since he came to the island.

The party was probably long over and everyone's gone to bed, but Anatoli still felt obliged to come out anyway to see if there were any leftovers for him to grab. He'd been feeling a lot more nocturnal lately, and at this unholy hour the opossum-man felt wide awake. He tosses on his costume that he had planned -- Schmendrick, the inept wizard from The Last Unicorn -- and headed out to the tent. And not without his knife tucked into his waistband, of course!

He timidly peeked in -- there were people there, which wasn't something he expected at all. But then again... surely, plenty of islanders were nocturnal? A lot of animals are, after all. He carefully slides in, keeping close to the entrance and away from the crowd from the time being.

Marlow nodded and tipped his hat, having no drink to toast with. Noting this he gave Vasile a subtle fluff of his skirts and looked longingly towards the open bar. "I've learned it's the only reward you can really hope to find here. Everything else... just games and posturing." He had noticed that Dr. Lockheart was nowhere in sight, nor had he seen her about in well over a month. "I'm sorry I couldn't meet you fiancee. It must have taken a hell of a distraction to lead her away. Really pulled out all the stops on this, didn't They?"

"They like to distract us," Vasile admitted, though he really didn't mind being distracted sometimes. "She'll be back soon, I'm sure. I saw some lights or something outside, maybe she's out there." Vasile looked to Marlow and smiled. "She's a great girl, I don't know Ambrose here did, but I think he got lucky." Vasile patted Ambrose on the arm and gave him a wink. "I'm gonna go grab a drink I think," he said, squeezing Marlow's shoulder. "I'll grab something for you."

Vasile saw the shy-looking man near the interest, someone he hadn't met, and couldn't pass up the oppurtunity to test out how convincing his costume was. He pranced over towards the door on his way to the bar, giving his best toothy grin. "Hello there, would you like anything from the bar," he purred out. He didn't try to mask his voice too much, but kept it breathy.

Now this is how the party was supposed to go. Not a depressing conversation about their fates on the island that he had had earlier with Pyroth and Richard.

Ambrose smiled nostalgically. "I agree. It... I don't know, as ridiculous as it sounds, I think it's something that keeps the tie between who you are and who you want to be. And a real mote of true happiness here."

Ambrose's ears pricked as he saw Vasile wander over to the drinks and the arrival of someone dressed as some sort of blue wizard. A real drink sounded good. The attitude was good enough that it might even aide the atmosphere. "Want to go join vasile at the bar, Marlow?" Ambrose asked. He wasn't sure if it would be polite to offer to push him... or if Marlow would take the initiative.

"I could do with a drink, too, I think."

Anatoli hesitated, ambling over to the table to the fox... woman? It was hard to tell. He ran a hand through his hair, fumbling nervously with his glasses. "Ah, hi there," Anatoli waved meekly, his hat tipping over his forehead a bit. He shoved it back up, then forced an awkward smile to bare his pointed teeth.

"Give me whatever ya think's good," Might as well leave it open. Anatoli wasn't much of a drinker, after all. "But nothin' too strong, right?" The man winked.

Marlow watched Vasile sashay over the bar and immediately take note of the young, akward wizard. A knowing smile played on the corner of his lips. "I think that might ruin Vasile's fun. Too often a good ruse is ruined by a blundering boyfriend rushing in." It was actually amusing to watch Vasile flirt from a distance, given how he was so used to being in the thick of it. Gave a whole new perspective on the process.

"Sure thing, honey," Vasile winked and headed off to the bar, grabbing a tray and making up some drinks. He made something fruity and girly for himself, the man by the door, and Ambrose. He figured he had embarassed Marlow enough for one night and pours him a scotch on the rocks.

He balanced the try carefully on the tray and began to head his way back towards the slightly-changed man. "Here you go," he said, holding the tray down and pointing him towards a the drink. "I don't think I caught your name..?"

The bemused smirk spread to Ambrose's face as he also turned his attention to Vasile's antics. "True enough, No point ruining his fun at the party. Just hopefully the young wizard doesn't go for that sort of thing. That or you're a very trusting soul." His mind wandered to the vacant Angelina and her skimpy Red Riding hood outfit. Hopefully no one was going to get any thoughts about her being on her lonesome....

Ambrose smacked his lips as he saw the fruity drink wandering his way. "Well... not my normal taste.... but thanks, dear." He smirked.

A werewolf in drag, a fox of questionable gender, and... Anatoli wasn't sure who the tuxedoed man was. Something slimy. He delicately picked the drink up off the tray and took a small sip. "Oh, that's quite sweet," he said with a hint of pleasant surprise, "Thank you. I'm Anatoli."

The opossum gave a few wary glances at Ambrose. Hulking mass of fur and muscle in a dress, but still a hulking mass of fur and muscle. Like nearly every single newcomer that's seen the wolf-man, "werewolf" immediately jumps to mind. It's hard not to want to panic, especially with the amplified sense of dread instilled into him by the marsupial's instincts.

He took another drink and begun chewing on his bottom lip, despite his newly sharp teeth. He still hadn't gotten used to that, and was too nervous to notice that his lip had begun bleeding.

He was a touch relieved that at least once drink didn't have a spider bedecked umbrella balanced precariously upon the rim. As for the wizard, he didn't chose to return the stare. It was hard enough to learn ticks, tells and other body language of the group without having to figure out what it was he was looking at and at this point not knowing was a fair enough trade off for not having to go through the motions of who, what, when and wheelchair. He'd go to every social event and eat out every single night with Vasile if he could be sure those conversations would cease all together.

"Certainly could use a little more bite to it, couldn't it. Sorry, but I don't think I'm going to want to trade."
