"Maybe pretty soon student will surpass teacher?" Kuma said jokingly. Yurinojou gritted her teeth and rushed forward, clenching her kunai to attack. "Not likely punk!" She said and slapped her hands together as a couple of grass clones came to her side and attacked. Kuma staggered in place as he used the drunken fist style to unorthadoxly dodge and attack in akward positions. Yurinojou spat on the ground, she hated losing, and being beaten by a person she barely knew only made her more angry. The grass clones were too slow for the Inuzuka as he flipped backwards and bent down low.
(Hyakka Hyouran-1/7)
"Comeon 'teach'? cant you pull something better than that out of your hat? you talk pretty big but you cant walk the walk." Kuma taunted as he crouched low and sliced the grass clones in half with his bladed knuckles. "You wana see big talk punk?" The flower ninja said as Kikunojou sighed. Her sister had quite the temper and Kikunojou always felt embarrised when she didnt get her way. "Great, now shes going to actually try and hurt him...shes such a sore loser..." The lazy flower ninja yawned as she laid her head on the floor and watched the battle with hidden excitment. "Hyakka Hyouran no Jutsu!" Yurinojou said as the roots in the ground glew a dim red as the bolted towards Kuma. He noticed too late as a pair of flowers glew bright red and exploded.
(2/7)
Kuma was sent flying back wards from the explossion and into a nearby tree as he got ups slowly to his feet. He shook his head to clear any disorientaion and gripped his knuckles, steeling himself for his own offense. "Nice move there Yurinojou. Maybe I should show some some nifty trickes too." Kuma put his finger to his lips, "Poof no Jutsu!" he said as he shimmered out of veiw of his opponent. Yurinojou looked around her fully prepared to defend herself and grimmaced. Where did that punk run off to?
(3/7)
Kuma smiled as he looked at his 'teacher' trying to defend herself futil. If I ever see the Magician guy again, I gotta thank him..... He locked eyes with Yurinojou and commenced his own jutsu. "Shooting Star Gaze no Jutsu!" Kuma's voice echoed in the backyard as Yurinojou fell to her knees, the breath completely knocked out of her. Kikunojou looked slightly startled but noticed she just had the wind knocked out of her as she continued to watch the battle. She felt her sister deserved a lesson in humility to go with that temper of hers. Maybe this kid could calm her down a little.
(4/7)
"It's weird, why are you so aggressive? Arent your people normally laid back?" Kuma asked as he shimmered into view and walked closer to Yurinojou. He put out a hand but she denied it, explaining without getting up. "Because this place is boring! The only time I get action is when were attacked. And even then I'm too inexperienced to join most of the fights!" She swallowed her pride as she spoke. Kuma realized it as he stood in front of her. He didnt give her pity, for he learned from his parents that no on deserved to feel less. Doing so was equivialnt to kicking them while they're down.
(5/7)
"Well you have the passion to fight, but if you had your sisters patience as well, youd be able to join the fighting cells right?" Kuma said as Yurinojou got up. She didnt look at him as she said, "Sure....right.....whatever..... lets finish this move." She got up and showed Kuma her move. Kikunojou created a grass clone for them to practice on. "So the hand sign is this?" Kuma said as Yurinojou slapped his hand. "No like this. Now try it, Kikunojou should have taught you what to do with our flowers." Kuma nodded as he focused on the grass clone in front of him.
(6/7)
"Hyakka Hyrouan no Jutsu!" he said as the grass clone exploded. Yurinojou smiled slightly and said. "Youre a quick learner kid.... I've taught all im willing to teach." "As have I. But your welcome to stop by whenever you want." Kikunojou smiled as Nazu hopped into his masters back pouch. Kuma nodded to the sisters as he slapped his leg and Nazu came to his side.. "Sure thing. Ill let you guys continue running your bussiness." and with that he walked out the flower shop, looking for more ways to improve himself. Yurinojou took a seat next to her sister as Kikunojou smiled wrly. "So what did you think?" Yurinojou rolled her eyes and gave an air of apathy as she spoke to her sister. "eh.....ill kick his a** next time."

The heat became gradually worse as Kuma wiped some sweat from his forhead. In the distance he saw a man shoveling.... ice? In this heat there shouldn’t be any ice...Kuma thought as he came closer. "Hullo there! What are you doing shoveling ice?" Kuma said as the man took notice of someone trying to get his attention. He looked up and patted his head with a handkerchief. The man came back to his cart and opened the lid as he started to create a snow cone in enthusiasm before it was even ordered. "I’m taking ice from my Jutsu and creating snow cones! Would you like one?"
(Ice Defence-1/8 )
The man created a scoop of shaved ice and added a flavoring as he handed it off to his newest customer. Kuma paid for the treat and took a bite. He smiled in instant gratification as Nazu whined; he wanted a taste as well. "Wow...this is actually pretty good.... What did you say your name was?" "Oh me? I'm Range, I specialize in Ice Jutsu." The man said as he stuck his thumb on his chest. Kuma looked around, and continued eating the ice. "Must be pretty hard when it’s so hot around here." "That it is. But it allows me to come up with some techniques the people up north never thought of!"
(2/8 )
Kuma and Nazu's ears perked up when Range finished the last sentence, they hit the right ice cream man! Nazu hopped out of his pouch as Kuma gave him the rest of his shaved ice as Kuma turned his attention to Range. "Would you mind teaching me a couple of moves? I’ve always wanted to learn how to use ice jutsu." Range puffed his chest out and nodded, "Yes sir! Just step behind my cart and we can get to work." Kuma walked around as the pair took a short walked into a slightly lit courtyard. Its stones were shaped into a snowflake as Range stretched himself out. The whole place has a quiet emptiness to it, like something was missing.
(3/8 )
"Its so dark out yet its so hot...." Kuma said wearily. Range didn’t notice the difference in temperature. "You could take off the fur lining, that might help." He scoffed in fun as Kuma took off his flak jacket and threw it to the flow. The pair stood in the middle of the courtyard as Range extended his leading leg and bent down on the back. His fighting style looked distinctly Chinese as Kuma tried to recreate it. "The first move I can teach you in called Ice Defense. By gathering the chakra in the air, you can created a barrier of ice to give yourself some time, lower the surrounding temperature for stronger ice attacks, or take a slight breather from battle." He moved his eyebrows in a slightly boasting fashion.
(4/8 )
"What if its already cold out?" Kuma wondered aloud. Range shrugged nonchalantly at the remark. "Ice jutsu has the benefit of growing stronger the cooler the surrounding environment is. Which can be a blessing or a curse. For me, it’s a curse but it’s forced me to increase my training. But I were to go up north, its power would be incredibly increased!" Range explained as he swiped his hands far apart. Snow began to materialize and harden into a clear wall of ice. "Ice Defense no Jutsu!" He said as a 5-foot wide barrier loomed with the action of his sweeping hands.
(5/8 )
Kuma looked at the width of the barrier and was astounded. It was 3 feet thick at the sides and a clear as an ice cube. The heat from the dark night cause the wall to start sweating as Range stepped back and admired his giant icicle. "Yeah...that should about do it." He said and motioned Kuma to test its strength. The Inuzuka brought his fist back and tried to break the wall, but only managed a scratch. Range smiled as he brought his hands down and the ice crumbled into snow. He looked at Kuma with a great sense of pride. "The trick in this heat is to gather as much moisture as you can and use your chakra to double it strength and durability." Range explained as the heap of snow began to turn to slush.
(6/8 )
Kuma nodded as he focused his charka into his hands. The air was sickly hot and humid as Kuma swept his hands up and down, slowly forming ice crystals and bringing them together. "Ice Defense no Jutsu!" the Inuzuka said as the sheet of ice followed his hand movements. Range studied his handiwork and flicked the sheet. It gave a sharp cracking sound as the flicks cracked flowed all the way to the bottom. To Kuma's embarrassment; it shattered into nothing as Range gave him a tsk tsk sound. "You’ll need to gather more moisture and mold it with charka to get it to work. Try again." The ice ninja said as Kuma tried to correct his mistake.
(7/8 )
Failure after failure repeated itself as Kuma's barriers became slowly thicker and thicker in width. Range became more and more impressed as well as with each test; the walls became more resilient to attack. "Ice Defence no Jutsu!" Kuma cried again as another barrier sprang to life, 6 feet in height as Kuma tried to make his attack higher instead of longer. Range walked around to the frong and punched the barrier, creating a tiny crack in it. He slapped his hands together and gave Kuma thumbs up. "Good, good, good! You're getting it!" Range said happily. The man bent low again and swept in a motion that carried over his head to the other side of his body as the his own ice wall followed suit, creating a huge arch over his head. “As you can see, you can created a fortress if you liked.” Range said as he reduced the arch to snow, “But it takes a nice bit of chakra to do so, I wouldn’t advise it unless you planned on going for the long haul…. Are you ready for another technique?”

Tamao
Tamao had been on the boat for a while, but was too excited to take a nap or even relax. Despite how dangerous it was, she couldn't help getting to her feet and walking around. She was finally going home, and what was more, she was a ninja! She wasn't sure how her parents would react to the news, but she hoped they'd be even a little happy about it. Otherwise it'd kind of kill her good mood. But going home to see her parents wasn't her only reason. Oh no, there was another reason entirely. (1 of 6)
There were ninja in Hidden Nano, and many of them possessed skills that were very impressive. She still wasn't sure if she should enter the chunin exams or not, but she knew that if she was going to, she would definitely need to know more techniques than the handful she possessed now. She would seek those ninja out, and try to get them to train her, to teach her and make her stronger. Maybe it wouldn't be enough, but she would have at least tried. And that was enough for her. (2 of 6)
But first things first, she had to see her parents. The boat was just pulling into the docks now, so she walked to the side and disembarked when it was secured. Looking around, she felt a wave of familiarity wash over her. This was her home! She'd been gone for so long, but only now did she realize how much she had missed it. But as much as she missed it, as much as she'd like to stay, she couldn't. Both with her further training, and if she did attend those exams, she'd be leaving her home once more. (3 of 6)
Walking down the roads that she had a few months ago, she was a little surprised. Her home hadn't changed at all! It still looked just as she'd left it. She quicked her step, eager to get home and see how her parents had been doing. They lived on the other side of the village, it'd take some time to get there. But she was okay with that, that would give her the chance to re-familiarize herself with her home once more. everything looked the same, but her memories were a little hazy, she could use a little review. (4 of 6)
She passed by lots of people, and greeted the ones she recognized. They remarked how diffewrent she looked, and she stopped. Did she really look that different? She didn't think so, wasn't she the same person? Asking what they meant, she was a little embarassed when they said she used to look like the epitome of a spoiled rich girl. But now, she looked like a real person, like she had a fire within her or something. She blushed a little, that was awfulyl close to a flattering comment. Giggling, she continued on her way. (5 of 6)
Finally, she'd managed to cross about half of the village. She came to a stop, wanting to rest for just a moment. She wasn't really tired, but she didn't want to work up a sweat, either. Her parents probably wouldn't approve if she showed up smelling like a track star! So she went to an empty bench and sat down for a moment, before she felt rested and stood up once more, ready to press on. It was still light out, and would be for several hours. Even so, she'd probably have to wait for tomorrow to do any training. Hopefully everything would work out. (6 of 6, Hyakka Ryouran)

Tamao
Tamao continued walking through the village, enjoying the sights and sounds that she grew up on. It was strangely calming, returning to the place where she had lived out her formative years. The feeling was marred a little when she realized again how she'd be leaving very shortly. But she didn't let that get her down, she'd enjoy herself as much as she could until she had to leave. As long as she kept in mind she had to train a lot, the exams were going to be very tough. (1 of 10)
She tried to guess what the exams might be, but there were so many choices. Could it be like the exam to graduate the academy, just an odd test and a gauntlet of physical activities? Could it be a simple tournament? Or could it be somethign else entirely, something she couldn't even think of? That seemed the most likely. She probably shouldn't even be thinking about it, that just might make her hesitate and lose her nerve. And after what she'd come through so far, that was unacceptable. (2 of 10)
Looking up, she realized she'd nearly reached her home. She could see it in the distance, it was still a very big house. Even so, it looked a little smaller than she remembered it. That was odd, had it been rebuilt? No, everything looked the same. It just seemed smaller. How odd. She stepped onto the grounds, and made her way to the front door. She hoped her parents were able to see her right away, instead of being busy with work. They'd always been busy, that was probably how they'd managed to become so well-to-do. (3 of 10)
She wasn't sure how she felt about that, they had never really had time to spend time with her when she was younger. Of course, they had hired help, and she had spent time with them for a good deal of her life, but it wasn't the same. She knew her parents loved her, but they never really showed it, and she kind of regretted that. But that was how they were, and she tried to accept it. They'd likely be just as busy now as they were before, and that might be for the best. It'd be easier to leave if they were the same as they had been when she left. (4 of 10)
She had reached the door, and opened it slowly, looking around. Everything was just as clean and immaculate as it had always been, there was still the faint scent of wildflowers in the air. She walked through the house, looking to see if anyone was home. There should be at least somebody, but so far she wasn't seeing anyone. Then she reached the study, where her parents spent most of their time at work, and found the her parents. They were hard at work, and she hesitated to interrupt them to make her arrival known. (5 of 10)
So instead, though it felt kind of rude, she just wrote them a note and tossed it into their in pile, they'd find out when they got to it. She went through the rest of the house and found the butler and the maid chatting casually in the kitchen. She greeted them, and they responded warmly. they'd been the closest thing she had had to friends for many years, and she always looked on them fondly. They chatted for a good hour, until it was time to prepare the evening meal. The chef had gone on vacation, so the butler and maid were taking over his duties until he returned. (6 of 10)
Tamao helped a little, just like she had when she was a little girl. She still wasn't too good, her skills had lost some of their edge while she was being a ninja, but she still tried. She apologized again to the butler, who had been punished rather severely when he failed to bring her back. He said not to worry about it, it wasn't that bad. The atmosphere in the kitchen cheered up, and soon the meal was ready. As the places were set, Tamao decided to partake, maybe her parents would come to dinner and they could have a real reunion, not a paper one. (7 of 10)
But they didn't, apparantly they were still very busy with work. She sighed, she'd kind of been hoping it might have been different. But there was no use getting depressed, so she enjoyed the meal, and caught up with the maid and butler about what happened while she was gone. They talked until it went dark out, then she decided to turn in for the night, spend the night in her room before setting out for more training in the morning. They were rather disappointed to hear she'd be leaving so soon, but they let her go. (8 of 10)
Morning rolled around, and Tamao couldn't resist spending a leisurely couple of hours waking up and washing up, then she was ready to go. She had a quick breakfast and gave the maid and butler a hug and kiss goodbye, then she set out. She'd find a trainer today, she had to! Going up and down the roads of the town, she finally found someone. She couldn't precisely remember his name, but she remembered he was famous for inventing a very unique technique. He seemed to be relaxing at the moment, so she asked if he wouldn't mind training her for a while. (9 of 10)
He had nothing better to do, so he agreed. Her training began immediately, it was quite difficult. She had to understand a whole new method of using chakra, that of mingling it with the elements. She had read a little abou that, but had never had a chance to try it, so it was slow going. But she kept at it, and several hours later, she was finally able to perform the technique. When her teacher was able to move again, he handed her a pair of small glass bottles. they were an important part of the technique, and easier to rely on then the naturally occurring stuff. She accepted the flasks and thanked him profusely. (10 of 10, Denji Genmu)

Tamao
Tamao suddenly remembered his name, it was Jiga. She also remembered another technique that he knew, one that was very useful in the right situation. She asked if he wouldn't mind maybe teaching her one more technique, that of the Kunai Levitation. He agreed, he still wasn't very busy, so they continued training. The two techniques were somewhat close in theme, so if she learned the one, it shouldn't be too hard for her to learn the other one. (1 of 6)
Jiga began explaining the technique, what it actually did. If she were to learn it, Tamao would be able to redirect the path of thrown metal objects, like kunai and shuriken, to either avoid her, or correct their path to follow an opponent. It would take some concentration, especially if she tried to manipulate their path too much, but it could save her life. It wasn't terribly complicated either, at least the basics of the technique. Once she learned it, he said she should try to practice it as much as she could, until she could do it really fast. (2 of 6)
After all, if she saw the shuriken already about to hit her, she wouldn't have time to stumble through a half-learned technique. She'd need to do it fast, and do it right, otherwise she'd be injured, or killed. He'd made his point, Tamao was intent on learning the technique as fast and as well as she could. So when Jiga was ready to show her the technique, she was ready to watch very closely. She'd learn this technique, she'd give it her all! It may be difficult to get the timing, but she knew she could do it! (3 of 6)
Jiga began the demonstration, tossing a few kunai high into the air, a lazy arc that was more for show than anything. But then he did a series of handseals and the kunai began to change their path, turning in the air to point straight at their target. That in itself was pretty impressive, but it wasn't done yet. As they fell, their points were aimed directly at the ground, but just before they hit they turned around in the air, so the points were aimed up at the sky. Letting him catch them neatly, without fear of injuring himself. (4 of 6)
Tamao thought that was pretty great, and that was only a casual demonstration. She had seen the absics, now she was ready to try it. Jiga would toss the kunai past her, and she'd try to manipulate their flight as much as she could. The first few attempts were laughable at best, but as she worked she began to get the hang of it. Soon, the kunai would wobble a little, and after some more work, she could actually make them divert from their path. Jiga stopped the training, saying she'd gotten it. (5 of 6)
Tamao smiled, had she really gotten it? But before she got too excited, Jiga warned her that she was still a beginner, she needed a lot more work to really be able to sue the technique well. If she were to keep it at this level of skill during a battle, it wouldn't even be worth using, it'd hardly make a difference. Instead, she should practice more and more, until the technique was almost second nature. It should be almost instinctive, to be able to use the technique in as short a time as possible. Tamao
Tamao had practiced the technique a little, and then felt it was time to move on. As she was walking through the village, she saw another distinguished ninja of the village. Range, she believed that was their name. They knew a technique called Impossible Leap, which created a small pane of ice in the air to let the user change the angle of their jump in mid-air. Considering how hard it was to move during a fall or jump, it took care of quite a big problem, that of beign a sitting target during a jump. (1 of 7)
She went up to Range and asked if he wouldn't midn teaching her the technique. He agreed, and they began trainign after just a moment. The technique required a good degree of control over chakra, as well as a mind for thinking in three dimensions. It wasn't just what was in front or behind her, it was how high above or below her that mattered. If she could keep that in mind while moving, it'd be harder for others to trap her. It was normal human nature to not think of checking above them, and that was a dangerous liability. (2 of 7)
But when one was able to think in three dimensions, they could anticipate attacks and traps better than they otherwise might have been able to, a very useful ability. And this technique was a step on the path to becoming aware of oneself in three dimensions. By learning how to change a jump from one direction to another, the user was thinking in three dimensions, at least for a moment. This was the true essence of the technique Impossible Leap. Hard to master, but very good to know about. (3 of 7)
But before they got that far, Tamao had to learnt he first step. That was the creation of the sheet of ice. It had to be fast, as fast as she could possibly make it, but strong enough to allow her to shift her weight against it and change her path. The basic creation of a panel of ice wasn't terribly troublesome, as long as the creator focused enough. This would be Tamao's first test for using the technique. Range told her how to use her chakra to create the ice, how to move and how to visualize the ice to create the proper form. (4 of 7)
After he'd told her how to try it, she did. It was hard going, but she did her best and managed to make somethign close to what was desired. She saw it, and redoubled her efforts for the next try. Even so, it was proving difficult. But she kept at it, and after a few more tries, she was able to make a small sheet of ice that was big and thick enough to suit their purposes. The next step would be even harder, learning to make it appear at her feet. Hard to change a jump without using feet, after all. (5 of 7)
This proved more difficult, she even had to sit down and stretch her legs out so the panels of ice wouldn't be pressed against the ground and crack right away. But she was getting the hang of it quickly, and after a few dozen tries, she was able to do it almost perfectly. The next and final step was creating the ice, and actually using it. This would require her to actually jump, and perform the technique while in the air, so she could take advantage of it. And again, this step was harder than the last. (6 of 7)
Tamao leapt into the air, and tried to perform the technique, but hit the ground before it took effect. She was too slow! She kept at it, jumping higher, trying to do the signs faster, everything to shorten the time needed for it to take effect. Slowly but surely, it was beginning to work. The ice sheet was still showing up a little too slow, but she was showing very good progress. With a little more work, she'd probably have it. Range told her to keep at it, and left her to her own devices. (7 of 7, Impossible Leap)

Tamao
Tamao had kept practicing the impossible leap technique, and got a little better each time. Soon she felt confident enough to stop practicing longe enough to think about learning another technique. But which one? There were lots of interesting techniques here that she could probably use over her career as a ninja, but she didn't want to learn them all in one fell swoop. One, maybe two more, then she'd move on to another village and see what she could learn there. (1 of 6)
As she was walking through the village, she spotted another of the village's more famous ninja. Their name was Yurinojou, and they were a pretty good ninja. Maybe a little rash, but then again lots of ninja were like that. She approached them, and asked if they might have the time to teach her a technique. They seemed a little annoyed, but agreed to do it if she learned fast. She assured them that she was, that she'd do her very best to learn the technique as fast as she could. (2 of 6)
That seemed good enough, so Yurinojou agreed to train her. Without preamble, they went into an explanation of the skill, basically just saying the bare bones of it. Enough to understand it, but not enough to really understand it well. Kind of frustrating, but she wouldn't get mad. She calmed herself and limbered up, trying to relax enough to give the task her all. Yurinojou explained how the technique worked, the basics behind it, and why it was a useful technique. (3 of 6)
It was called Hikari Fukou, or Glittering Unhappiness. It used flower petals to blind the opponent, and was a great set-up to an aggressive move. If they were blinded, they would have a much harder time dodging any other attacks, and the fight would be practically over. Not that that meant she could get overconfident, sight wasn't everything. There were some blind ninjas out there, and they were at least as strong as ninjas who could still see. So she had to stay careful. (4 of 6)
Even so, this technique could give her an advantage in a fight, as long as she kept a clear head on her shoulders. Don't expect it to turn the tide of battle, don't rely on any one skill, no matter how powerful. She had only her own strength to rely on, techniques were just outward signs of inner strength. All of what Yurinojou said made a lot of sense, Tamao made sure to do her best to remember, these were bits of lessons she wouldn't have learned on her own for some time, experiences that other ninjas had gone through. (5 of 6)
Finally, it was time to move on and actually demonstrate the technique. Yurinojou used their chakra and sent a gust of flower petals at an imagined target. The flowers burst into sparkling motes which would likely blind the target. Even just watching like this, Tamao was nearly blinded, she had a few spots in her eyes for a moment. Then the demonstration was done, and it was her turn. Recalling everything she had seen, she tried the technique, and got it right on her first try! She was pretty happy about that, all of Yurinojou's explanations had done her a lot of good. (6 of 6, Hikari Fukou (Glittering Unhappiness))

Tamao
The day was passing by quickly, and Tamao felt like she hadn't quite done enough yet. But she couldn;t think of any other techniques in the village she really wanted to learnr ight now, maybe it was time to move on? It was stille arly enough she could catch a boat to another village. But what village? There were so many, each with their own clans, techniques and styles. No matter which one she chose, she'd probably find a technique she'd like. (1 of 6)
But she couldn't approach learning techniques without any sort of a plan, she wanted to find the right techniques to learn to maximize her strengths and minimize her weaknesses. But what techniques would those be? For that matter, what were her strengths and weaknesses? She didn't know that either, it hadn't come up during her stay at the academy. Kind of late in the game to figure that out now, but she'd have to do the best she could, and hope for the best. (2 of 6)
She doublechecked her belongings, she'd swapped out her luggage from the academy for a much more travel-worthy set, she hadn't brought nearly as much stuff with her this time around. Really just the bare necessities, enough to let her take care of herself and not much else. She had to learn to fend for herself, out in the world without the academy, or her parents to take care of her. That was part of what it meant to be a ninja, self-reliance. She'd do her best, and become stronger under her own power. (3 of 6)
Everything seemed in order, so she was ready to go. She'd already said goodbye to the butler and maid, and asked them to give her parents her regards, so all that was left was to actually leave. She took her time doing so, walking slowly through the village to see it one last time before she left again. She'd be back sooner or later, but that didn't change the fact that she'd miss it. So she took as much time as she dared on the way to the docks, eager to make some last-minute memories with her home. (4 of 6)
She spent some time chatting with some of the people she knew, the shopkeepers and tradesmen, the villagers and ninja, saying hi to each of them and asking how they'd been. But even so, she got closer and closer to the docks, and soon she was there. Looking at the array of boats, she realized she still hadn't decided where she wanted to go. Maybe be spontaneous and hop on the closest boat, see where it took her? No guarantee she'd go somewhere she'd like, but then again maybe she'd be pelasantly surprised. (5 of 6)
That sounded interesting, so she made her decision. Walking with energetic purpose, she amde her way to the closest boat and arranged passage, but made sure not to ask where she was going. If she was going to be surprised, she wanted to go for broke, not find out until she got there. Otherwise it'd be too easy to think about it on the way there and ruin the whole plan. As the boat pulled away, she looked at the water, watching the ripples swirl and combine into a chaotic mass that trailed behind the boat like a comet's tail. (6 of 6, Hana Shuriken)

Hedoro
Hedoro had spent some time scrounging around the Exam battle site before moving on. She'd finally pieced together enough scraps of fabric and cloth to make another impromptu outfit, to hide her true self. It didn't seem quite so important as before, after all, a lot of people knew what she really was now. That didn't sit well with her, but there wasn't much she could do about it just yet. First, she'd have to get stronger. (1 of 9)
This would help her. She still didn't know what it was, it was an oblong object wrapped in layer upon layer of bandages. She didn't even have a guess what it might be, and she couldn't open it to find out. Even so, she was positive it was something that would help her, once she could open it. So she tucked it away with her flute and other important items, and left the Exam site to continue her training. (2 of 9)
She would head back to Hidden Nano first, there were several more techniques there that she wanted to learn. Rather obviously, they were all water-based, no surprise there. Since she was watery by nature, she felt a special affinity for techniques like these, plus she could use them rather effectively. With reasons like that, there was no reason not to learn them whenever she could. (3 of 9)
Sitting on the boat, she watched the Exam site vanish behind her, and turned to face forward. The exam was done, she'd managed to be promoted from a genin to a chunin. She was on her way to becoming stronger and free, she just had to keep at it. Then, only then, could she rest easy, after she'd made them pay for what they'd done. Revenge was a strong motivator, it gave her all the determination she could ever need. (4 of 9)
The boat arrived at Hidden Nano only a short time later, and she got off. Moving into the city, she kept a look out, to see what she could find. She knew the various masters of techniques here, she'd been here once before. But that didn't make it much easier to find them. So she began searching, moving up and down the various roads and streets, keeping an eye out for her target. (5 of 9)
It certainly wasn't easy, it seemed she'd chosen to come at the wrong time. There were people everywhere, it seemed they were all doing something, bustling back and forth all over the roads. It made the going very slow, and she got more and more frustrated. All she had wanted was to learn a few techniques from someone in the village, now she was running a gauntlet through a thick crowd. (6 of 9)
Finally, she had to stop for a moment. She wasn't tired, but she was annoyed. If the crowd stayed thick much longer, she couldn't guarantee she wouldn't just up and attack someone without provocation. And if she did that, she knew she wouldn't be very likely at all to receive any training. So she settled down to wait the crowd out, and tried to calm down. She could be patient, when she had to. (7 of 9)
As she sat, she watched the people as they walked past her. Many of them seemed pretty busy, but some were apparantly at ease, leisurely walking, at odds to others' frenzied pacing. She could have probably thought up of all manner of histories and reasons for each person, but there was really no point. They weren't who she was looking for, so at least for the moment, they didn't matter. That could change at any time, it was impossible to know the future. (8 of 9)
As the day dragged on, the crowd finally began to dwindle. Hedoro had been getting impatient, her foot had been tapping the ground nearly continuously for the past hour. But now she could get up and resume her search. She did just that, her impatience causing her to move a little faster, to rush around trying to find the person she came to Hidden Nano to find. But just because she looked faster didn't mean much. (9 of 9, Aquatic Defense)
She kept searching, and gradually calmed down. Now that she was actively doing something, her frustration faded away, letting her regain her cool. She finally found who she'd been searching for at about the same time, and waited until they didn't look busy. They seemed to have been discussing something with another person, so she let them finish. She wasn't in an urgent hurry to train. (1 of 6)
Of course, that wasn't to say that she had all the time in the world. No, she preferred to be doing something if at all possible. That was her nature, it was part of who she was. If she wasn't doing anything she felt like she was just wasting time. And with the constant pressure of vengeance, wasting time was tantamount to getting weaker, something she couldn't tolerate. But still, she could be patient. (2 of 6)
Finally, the person she'd been looking for finished talking, and turned to face her. She introduced herself, having calmed down allowed her to remember her manners. The person she'd been looking for introduced themselves as well, saying their name was Ruiga. She asked if he'd be willing to teach her a few techniques, and he agreed. He asked which ones, and she said as many as he'd be willing to teach her. (3 of 6)
He laughed a little at this, perhaps that had been too audacious of her? No, he said he'd be glad to teach her, as long as she wasn't hopeless. She assured him she wasn't, she'd even been made a chunin. This impressed him a little, so he decided to begin the lessons right away. But first, he wanted them to move somewhere else. He led the way, Hedoro following close behind. (4 of 6)
They walked for a little while, going back towards the docks. Finally, they came to a stop, standing at the water's edge. Since he would be teaching her water-based techniques, it only made sense to be near a ready source of water. Sitting down on the pier, he gestured for Hedoro to do the same, and began the lesson. Like most instructors, he began with a lesson of practical knowledge. (5 of 6)
Of course, the lesson was almost worthless to Hedoro. She didn't say so, of course, but she didn't pay too close of attention. She already knew a lot about water, much of what he was saying she'd known since she was practically an infant. But still, she really had no choice, she had to listen to his lesson to be able to learn techniques from him. That was the true cost of learning techniques in this day and age. Verbose instructors. Hedoro
Finally, Ruiga stopped talking about water, and the real lessons could begin. He took it slow, covering every aspect of the lesson, even the stuff that the greenest academy student should know. It was a little frustrating, but she'd been prepared for it during his last little speech, so she managed to keep a handle on herself. She distracted herself by seeing how fast she could duplicate the technique on her own, rather than actually learning it from him. (1 of 7)
Of course, there were certain difficulties in doing that. One, she'd never actually seen the technique before, so she couldn't be sure she'd be doing it right. Two, it was manipulating regular water, not her own substance, and that proved a tiny bit more difficult. And three, if he caught her it'd make things awkward. So she had to take it slow, play it close to the chest so she wouldn't attract his attention. (2 of 7)
And at the same time, she still had to listen to him. Every so often through the lesson, he'd ask her if she had questions, or ask her one of his own, or even ask her to practice one of the lesson's steps a few times. So she had to divide her attention between two different activties, while not getting them mived up. This wasn't too hard, it was kind of like when she split into Hedoro and Koutai. (3 of 7)
Finally, the lesson reached it's final stage, the actual demonstration before she would have to perform the technique herself. She'd very nearly done it on her own, so she wasn't too worried about being able to. She still watched Ruiga carefully as he showed her how it was done, seeing spots where she hadn't gotten it quite right, where parts of her own performance could be improved. (4 of 7)
He had finished showing her the technique, now it was Hedoro's turn to try it for herself. She stood up and concentrated, recalling each part of the technique before trying it in her head. Then she was ready. Performing the handseals, she attempted the technique. It wasn't perfect, but it worked. She had the basics of water manipulation down pat, but the nuances were giving her a little trouble this time around. (5 of 7)
Or they would be, if she hadn't intentionally done poorly. She didn't want to risk making a scene by mastering the skill instantly, so she had purposely done less than her best. She'd still done the technique, but probably not good enough to get a passing grade. That was fine, Ruiga had seemed to expect as much and had no problems teaching her more about the technique. (6 of 7)
He started from the beginning, running through an abridged version of the same speech he'd made before. Thankfully, it went much faster than the first time through, and then it was time for Hedoro to try the technique again. This time she felt it would be alright to actually perform the technique as well as she could, so she did so. Predictably, she got the technique right this time. (7 of 7, Suiton Seibun Houfutsu (Water Cannon Replica))
Ruiga congratulated her, and asked if she was ready to continue their training. He had a few more techniques he thought she could learn, if she was up to it. She nodded, eager to acquire more skills and strength. They stayed where they were, and got right back to work. Ruiga had already gone through the big speech about water twice, so he didn't think she'd need to hear it again. (1 of 8 )
And that was good, because she definitely didn't need to. She knew water very well, quite possibly at the same level as Ruiga, or even higher. That's what came from a lifetime of constant exposure, after all. So they went straight into the explanation of the second technique he'd be teaching her. It was pretty similar to the first one, but where the first one affected the user, the second affected their opponent. Other than that, it was really almost the same technique. (2 of 8 )
As such, that meant it should be very easy for her to learn, since she'd just performed the first version successfully. She certainly thought so, it seemed easy enough. But overcofnidence led to foolish mistakes, so she went ahead and payed attention to the lesson as closely as she had the first time. She didn't learn too much she hadn't already known, but it was good to make sure, at least. (3 of 8 )
Then came the time to watch as Ruiga performed the technique himself. He performed it without trouble, which was only to be expected, as it was his technique, after all. Hedoro watched carefully, and after he'd finished, it was her turn. She thought it'd be okay to get it right the first time around this time, so she did. He congratulated her, and she asked if they could press on, learn another technique or two before she called it a day. (4 of 8 )
Ruiga seemed a bit impressed with her determination, but then again he knew just how driven lots of younger ninjas were. They thought they had to prove themselves as fast as they could. That wasn't the case, of course, but most younger ninja didn't learn that until some time into their lives as ninja. He could try telling them as many times as he wanted, but it never changed anything. So he agreed, and they moved on to the next technique. (5 of 8 )
The next technique was an evolution of the last one she'd learned, it drew upon the basics she'd just mastered. So once again, she settled in to hear the full explanation of it. Considering half of the speech was things they'd just reviewed a few minutes ago, it didn't take very long at all before she was feeling kind of bored. But she couldn't let it show, so she tried focusing on what Ruiga was saying. (6 of 8 )
That seemed to help, it made the time pass quicker, and before she knew it, it was her turn to try the technique. She hadn't payed too much attention to Ruiga's demonstration, but she still managed to perform the technique fairly well. He seemed impressed when she mastered it after her first try. Even before she had a chance to ask, he assumed she wanted to learn one more technique, so he went right into the lesson. (7 of 8 )
Again, this technique was the next step in Ruiga's technique's progressions. This meant she already knew a good deal about it's basics, so the lesson was very quick. Really, he just said the few alterations she'd have to make to the last technique, and then he demonstrated it. It seemed easy enough, so Hedoro immediately tried it herself as well. And she got it right, too. Ruiga congratulated her, and said that was all he had to teach her for the moment. (8 of 8, Stalking Wave)
She thanked Ruiga for all he'd taught her, and continued on her journey. She had recalled another technique that was available here in Hidden Nano. Since she was already here, there was no reason not to learn it. So she set out, looking for the next person she needed to find to continue her training. She wasn't sure precisely who it was, but she'd found out if she looked long enough. (1 of 10)
As she searched, she ended up admitting it would be much too hard to just find the unknown person without some sort of clue. She had no choice, she'd have to ask a local for help in the matter. It took a few tries, the first couple people she asked didn't seem to know who she was talking about. But finally, she found someone who knew who she was talking about. They told her where they'd seen him last, and she thanked them and went on her way. (2 of 10)
She followed the directions she'd been given, and soon found the person she'd been looking for. At least she assumed it was them, she had to ask to make sure. When she did, they took a moment before answering her, then nodded. So they were her next instructor, hopefully. She asked, and they agreed to teach her a technique. But only one, they didn't want to spend all day teaching some kid. (3 of 10)
Hedoro withheld her irritation at being called a kid, and asked Jiga which technique she'd be taught. She already had one in mind, and was surprised when Jiga suggested the very same one. It seemed a lot of ninja wished to learn this technique, he assumed she was just one more in the line. He was right, of course, not that Hedoro liked that. She didn't want to be just like everyone else. (4 of 10)
No, she just wanted to be strong, and free. If it meant having to learn a lot of techniques similar to other ninjas' repertoires, then she could handle it. It didn't make her happy, but then again nothing really made her happy. That was important to her, it kept her calm and collected. Happiness would only make her weak, something she wouldn't tolerate. Better to be unemotional, and strong, then happy and weak. (5 of 10)
Without further ado, the lesson for the technique began. Jiga explained the basics of the technique, and Hedoro listened closely. This one wasn't water-based, it would prove more difficult to master. Especially for her. So she payed as much attention as she could, watching as Jiga showed the requirements to use the technique. It wasn't terribly complicated, but it was different enough that she had to pay a lot of attention. (6 of 10)
Then it was time to watch as he demonstrated the technique. She watched closely, recording every detail to her memory as best she could. She was pretty sure she had it down, but listened as Jiga explained the technique once more. He pointed out that this technique needed raw metarials, which weren't always available. Which was why he gave her a trio of vials filled with grey dust. If there were no raw materials on hand, she could use these. (7 of 10)
She accepted the vials, thanking Jiga. Then it was time for her to try the technique herself. She did so, and it seemed to work as well as she could expect. Unlike water-based techniques, in this field she actually was a total beginner. Her technique barely counted as a pass, she'd have to work on it a bit to get the hang of it. Even so, she'd still done it, enough for Jiga to say so, anyways. (8 of 10)
She thanked him for teaching her, and said farewell. That was the last technique she wanted to learn from Hidden Nano at the moment, so now she could leave, and head to the next village. She wasn't sure which one she'd go to yet, there were a few that possessed techniques that she wanted to acquire. She'd decided at the docks, and get on the first boat that met her requirements. (9 of 10)
Reaching the docks, she checked the departure times for all the different boats, paying extra attention to the ones that were going to any of the villages she wanted to go to. According to what she read, there was one leaving in about five minutes, that was going to one of her destinations. That made the choice much easier, she purchased a ticket and boarded the boat. As it pulled away from Hidden Nano, she prepared herself to learn more techniques once she arrived at her next stop. (10 of 10, Denji Genmu)

Mitsuko landed in Nano again, and noticed that it has fluorished after her last visit here. The place seemed quite peaceful and Mitsuko didn't know where to find the brothers in this kind of situation. Mitsuko closed her eyes and waited for a sense of some significant chakra source, there wasn't any. Sighing, Mitsuko walked to the older quarters to see if any body has the clues she needed to track those people down.
There was nothing interesting as she headed down the direction. the houses appeared to be rotting before her eyes and she realized the dark mood hanging around the streets.

suddenly, a fine film of water sformed around her and mitsuko noticed that it was closing into a sphere. mitsuko lashed out with the samehada, but the sides were strengthened with chakra to have almost unlimited elasticity. mitsuko sighed and knew that she had fallen into something akin to aquatic defense, but one that is used to trap enemies.
a skinny man with blue hair and a painted face walked out:"well, well, if it isn't the mizukage..." Mitsuko didn't respond, but used wind chakra to fill the entire bubble and gave it a drastic change in volume. the thing burst and she stepped out to confront the guy.

"so ruiga, how's it going? running from the authorities five times a day?" said mitsuko with a slight jeer in her voice. this guy was a criminal, but he's promised to stay low or he would be deported.
“I don't believe that you came here for nothing mitsuko, state your purpose..." said ruiga, not wishing to get sent back to jail. "simple," said mitsuko with a sweet smile dripping with menace. "just teach me that technique you trapped me in, and I'll leave you alone..."
ruiga sighed, knowing that refusing can open up a whole new can of worms.
