d 0 t t Has anyone tried All-State Tryouts or Solo and Ensemble festivals? :O I was in the All-State Band last year, and have been invited to audition this year. *furiously practices piece* @shimmeringcancer: Relax! It's a slow forum.

Lol. I play oboe and I am one of 5 at my school. It's sad. Last year there were 9, this year there are 5, and we did the math and figured out that next year there will only be 3. crying
We have an AMAZING English horn solo in one of our annual pieces that my step-sister got to play this year. I want to learn English horn so bad!

@Pyros_Blood: Yeah. I almost never practiced for All-State until there was only 2 months left. xD I didn't make it, but I came close.

HI!!!Well..I play oboe. I started playing it my freshman year. During middle school I played the flute. I basically learned most of the stuff I know through flute. After my 8th grade I got switched over to oboe, which until now has been one of my best experiences ever!!!! I love it!!! This year as a senior, I play the English Horn and the oboe! English horn is the best! I practically can say that English Horn is my favorite double-reed instrument!
This coming month I have Area auditions, and if I am good enough I'll make it to the All-State Band and travel to San Antonio. I've been practicing so hard and I am pretty sure I'll make it. If I do, I'll be the first All-State English Horn player in my school and probably the whole city!!! So exciting!!!!!!! biggrin smile exclaim exclaim xp whee xd smile biggrin

What mean oboe jokes!!!! I looooooove my oboe and I would die for it if I had to. I'm in the Symphonic wind Ensamble at my school. The only oboist as a matter of fact. We don't have a marching band...or Pit...

Hey! I play the most wonderful oboe! I made all-state in 7th grade, but then I moved and they won't let me try out until 9th grade :[
Our band stinks. We only have 2 oboes and no bassons :[

our band has 4 oboes and like 200 something ppl -.-
other than our section leader i'm the only decent oboe
WHY WHY WITH ALL THE BAD OBOES THEY GIVE US A BAD REPUTATION!!!!!

but during marching season I'm a tenor sax crying
Yeah I'm going to go to state try-outs this year and I'm soo excited rofl dramallama but yeah I doubt I'd make it XDD
I hardly practice what I'm supposed to be practicing....I've been teaching myself the french horn and the piano (my 8 and 9th instruments that I can play)
OOO!! I realllyyyy wannna play the Contrabassoon or the Tenoroon though!! X3 they are sooo awesome! mrgreen My private lesson teacher plays the Contrabassoon sweatdrop and it sounds so cool!

ive been playing oboe for concert band. i know im probably not alone when i say that ve been the only double reed player in school ever since i started playing crying .... makes me sad... but i platy percussion in marching band. marching with double reeds just wouldnt work for me lol
