I play Percussion in my school band, and I'm best in the section lolz I went to State Honors Band Clinic on Saturday. We played awesome songs. We played with all instruments in band and we played Thriller by Michael Jackson, We Will Rock You by Queen, etc. and I played Snare Drum, Hi-Hat, Drum set, and Marimba.

Rhap-chan HelterSkelterX I don't know how many people in this guild are drummers. I started drumming with I was 4, which by all rights should've make it easier right? Yeah...so marching band music is in no way, shape, or form the same. Why can't there be more rudimental drummers out there?! ^_^ **waves** Greetings, fellow drummer! Though perhaps I should be called a xylophone addict. ^_^ That's my thing really. My boyfriend began his drumming career at the same age, though he's a set drummer mostly. Marching band music is evil and wrong (^^ kidding, but it's definitely hard). And there aren't many rudimental drummers out there because.... many "drummers" can't play rudiments! Like me! But at least I have an excuse, being a xylo addict. I'm glad someone made a topic for percussionists! Struggle on, my friend. im a xylo addict too, but marimba is better razz

Ya know what's sad, when I was still in highschool (graduated) I played everything there was to play in percussion outside of set... because I couldn't.
My friends figured out Through the Fire and Flames on mallet instruments, just because we got bored. Something I could pull off now with 2 years off the instrument.... no. crying
I'm a pit player at heart. Kinda makes me sad I tried so hard to get on tenor.
Much love to the mallet maniacs.

Where I come from, we have a Drumline. Technically it's separated into the traditional battery and pit, but we do everything together because the director says so and we want to.
This was my first band season (in any band, including concert bands), and my first time playing anything other than piano. So I was in the pit. Hella fun, although the other pit members drive me absolutely up the wall.
My life's ambition is to be a bass drum next year. Specifically the 6th bass drum. >3 But this year we only got the 5th on the field, and I'm a short and skinny girl with no percussion experience prior to this year. I've been allowed to carry the 3rd and 5th bass drums back to the band room/trailer after nearly every game, but that probably doesn't qualify me for the 6th drum. DESPITE MY BURNING PASSION FOR IT AND MY EXTREMELY PUBLIC/UNHEALTHY OBSESSION WITH THE BASSLINE D:
And I'll conclude by affirming my shockingly worrisome love of my section. Holy hell, I love you guys. heart

I am a one of the two girls in the whole drumline (during marching season) and I play bass 3. I have been playing bass 3 since my freshman year. I absolutely love percussion! All of the guys are super nice and sweet to me and Cara (the other girl, she plays fourth bass.) We're all a big happy family. We pull pranks on each other and tell each other everything I'm not kidding. We tell each other who we're dating and who hooked up with who. It is awesome!
I am original a bass clarinet player who switched to bass drum after there was only two at the time. I also play Baritone in OC ( a DCI open class group.)

I came up with a rhyme:
No discussion, when it comes down to percussion.

Dont get me wrong but dont quit if you dont make it. That means she won and u lost what you should do is out shine her by performance and being ready and prepared it pays off. Btw i am a percussionist drumline and I have made fun of another percussionist who was gay but the fact is after a while of us just trying to be freinds and pass through the school year it was pretty kool now we are pretty close she calls me her little brother (she was a senior. Me sophmore. but Im taller) and yet I never minded her being gay again and she graduated and when I played at her graduation crying it was emotianal and kool to see how far you can go if you just try and no matter what people say keep pushing.
